Also I have to say the the "love" scene with Miranda is the one that left me coldest. Nothing but sex (which is kinda boring form a character development point of view).

Also; any bets on how long before someone hacks the skin used in the "love scene" so that she'll be unzipped in game?

Ashley doesn't hate aliens, she is just distrusts them, there is a difference. She even speaks out against the racist people in ME1 during the Terra Firma protest.

This is called "Poor writing" If there's supposed to be a difference between Ashley's stated views  and those of Terra Firma they should have written one.

Listen to what Terra Firma tells Shepard.

Compare and contrast that to what she has already said about aliens and humanity's position.

While you may never see Ashley at one of those Terra Firma teabagger rallies, she believes exactly as they do.

She belives that the aliens, as a whole, would be just like humans. That a turian would save a turian over a human just like most humans would save a human over a turian. In the ME universe you kind of get the feling that every one belives this to some extend. Yes there are exeptional indivduals (like para-Shep) that would sacrifice their own for the good of the other races but that is the exception among all of the speicies.

I can understand Miranda's insecurity, it comes from her "family" background. She grew up thinking that she was a tool only but somehow found the strength to throw all of that away. Granted she jumped from one sinking ship to another but at least she chose to be used by Cerberus whereas he father didn't give her that option.

Ashley had it much better, in my opinion, because she had a loving family and that far outweighs any happiness or upbringing that monetary wealth alone could provide. Only through interacting with Shepard does Miranda finally see that she's just as human as anybody else and that she should take value in herself.

There are light years of differences between the two gals but I think that core family upbringing is the biggest. Still the two are caring big sisters and each went to help their sister when she was in trouble... one more so than the other but still, I think we all know Ashley would do the same thing Miranda did if any member of her family was in the crosshairs of a mercenary group.

Yeah, I went with Miranda in my playthrough after I ran into Ashley. Hell, I can understand her not wanting to go along with me in the mission because she would be working with Cerebus but after everything in ME1, she didn't trust my word in ME2 and that pissed me off. Sure she sent that email later but I felt things changed too much for Shepard for him to stay with Ashley.

Hell, my Shepard was quite a bit more renegade in his options in ME1 (asides from towards the crew/party for the most part) since he's been basically abandoned by everyone for the most part and only has Cerebus to help him (doesn't help that renegade actions usually tend to be somewhat helpful in some form in some battles and usually are funny.).

I have one character who’s love interest is Miranda, who’s past love interest was Liara from ME1. (I wonder how that is going to play in ME3?)

I made another character with the default story in ME2 and his love interest is Jack. And so far I like Jack above Miranda. I might go back and play with Miranda as a team member more often as I have done Jack. But with Jack in the group, each comment she makes, makes me like her even more. I will make another character that will go after Tali then Kelly.

But to answer the question, I like Miranda more than Ashley. But there is no telling what can happen in ME3. But so far I like Jack the best.

I liked that scene actually -- not just for the black lace bra, although my God that did help -- but because it fit the situation of two people facing near-certain death and making one last desperate grasp at life.

I was not an Ashley fan in ME1 and Miranda is way cooler and hotter to me. It also helps that she is based off of one of the sexiest woman on the planet. Her character is very cool, calm, and collected and she can deal with Shepard on his/her level. My first play through, although I am a Tali fanatic, had Miranda as my LI and I have her on my desktop at work. Tali is on the desktop at home.

I think she is that character that didn't ever expect to find happiness because of her past and it was cool to see her fall in love with you. Being with her in the engine room was great. Not just because she is super hot but because she is full of passion and lust. That is how she made me feel and it really comes out in the sex. There is nothing wrong with knowing what you are doing in the bed room. She brought that sexy confidence with her and that just made her character more appealing. The best part though is calling her up to your room afterwards. You can see just how happy she is being with you and letting her guard down. That smile on her face when you are sleeping made leaving Liara all worth it for me. I can't wait to see the cat fight though in ME3 because these two have a history together since she is the one that brought Liara to Cerberus in the first place.

Err no she dousn't all she believes is that humanity has to try and be strong on their own because aliens can't always be trusted, and lets be fair, after saving the council and hearing them denying the reaper threat you can't blame her

Ash, defiantly. Though I was rather pissed at her after Horizon, and went to Tali as a LI. Though I will do a play-through where I stay faithful to Ash.

I think Miranda's romance progressed a lot better. Well really, all the romances in ME 2 progressed a lot better.

I never really liked Ashley in ME 1, and I liked Kaidan more than her. Bear in mind, I didn't really hate any characters from either game (closest to it is probably Samara), but Ashley just wasn't for my Shepard.

Now, on to Miranda. I really like her and Shepard's romance (my Shepard). Each romance in ME 2 has it's specific motivations and themes, and each one is different. Miranda's to me was extremely passionate, fiery, and irrational (the engine room scene captures this perfectly). It's two people who didn't expect to even get along, but they just sort of find this spontaneous attraction to one another. I admit that Miranda's romance to me was not really about compatibility, or having things in common, or even trust. It's just two people with this immense, unexplainable attraction to one another.

That's my take, anyways. I usually like to make decisions based on how well they work with the narrative and my character as opposed to what I want (eg. I like to have a few characters die at the endgame).

I like them both but Miranda stole my heart. I mean for one my Shepard has so much more in common with her than with Ashley and two they were each willing to go the distance to get the job done no matter what.

Besides the whole "So don't die, you promise me damnit!" scene really showed that she was as human as the next person.

And of course, after seeing all the Cerberus uglies in ME2 she resigned and decided to follow Shepard no matter what. Ashley, though she sent an endearing letter afterwards, wouldn't leave the alliance to help do what it takes. Shepard is a marine, but he's also something so much more than that and that's a place Ashley just can't follow.

So Miranda, by far.

*Edit: By similarities I mean we each had our share of family problems, I lost mine on Mindoir and she never really had one to begin with.

No one would join cerberus after seeing their experiments, I felt extremly bad being on a cerberus ship at first, I only felt a little better after I got to know the crew and sheperd would never work for cerberus normally, it just so happens he had no choice since they revived him so before he could say he wouldn't work for them he had already talked to soem fo them and seen they wern't all evil

Ashley hands down. Miranda looks like a science experiment. I have never seen a person which such disproportionate front teeth and just a wide jaw before. Yeah Ash is a giraffe but Miranda, for someone supposedly perfect is pretty ugly in my book. Also character wise, i think i related alot more to Ash than Miranda. I think Ash's voice actor is better as well. I completely understand her freakout reaction as well, as in her eyes, shepard betrayed her. I would be that angry if someone betrayed me, especially if we were emotionally attached.

Though my first play through, Tali is my LI.

They did, that is what the whole Terra Firma event was supposed to show. The information is there if you want to acknowledge it.

What you are listening to is a politician, not a racist. (Even if the politician is racist underneath, he isn't going to say so.)
Just because you want to believe someone is racist doesn't make it so.

Ashley pissed me off on Horizon. Miranda pieced Shep back together over the course of two years. I will go with Miranda.

I like Tali more than both of them though.

Myself, i chose not to romance Miranda (even if it was very hard to resist) but to be loyal for Ash. After Miranda resigned from Cerberus in the end, i felt that i made a wrong decision. :pinched:

Well, i was happy that i had Kelly at least! :wizard:

If I dare say this, a lot of my friends may kill me...but Miranda is only second to Liara in my book. Miranda stole my heart in ME2, but not with my Main(Liara) Shepherd, but my Ashley Shepherd couldn't help it.

Miranda without contest for me (although pre-ME2release it was Ashley) What can I say, she is a well thought out character.

No one, I mean NO ONE! replaces Liara...

I think it may be possible to romance Miranda in ME 3. You can turn her down, claiming the mission to be too important. She says something akin to "let's be friends, and maybe we'll see what the future holds".

Is there a LI from ME1 if you play the default character in ME2? Who is it?

Between the two, Miranda is so much better.

Ashley has a lazy eye. Plus, Miranda is just flat more interesting of a character and not to mention "dat ass".
