I'd have to go with Miranda, especially after Ashley was such a **** when seeing her. Calling me a traitor for saving the universe yet again while the alliance does nothing just showed how brainwashed she really is. Kinda sad though since I picked Ashley on my very first ME character, was really hoping to have her as an option in ME2.

Miranda hands down. Too bad they went for the ME1 way and not the DA:O, though. so u can only romance one squadie at a time ("it's a small ship"), and make u choose.

The more I think about it, the more I like Ashley in ME2. She's not some simpering girl who needs someone to cling to; she sticks to her guns, as it were. My Paragon Shep made her realize in ME1 that aliens were okay, then in ME2 she sees me working with rabidly pro-human Cerberus, probably understands that Cerberus was using the colony as bait...I held her to higher standards in ME1, I appreciate that she held me to higher standards in ME2. Just wish she played a larger role. Hopefully she'll be back as a full companion in ME3 and we can work things out. "Really, honey, Bioware made me work with them..."

I liked Miranda more b/c she ends up coming out of her shell in pre-endgame dialog and she even *spoilers* quits Cerberus near endgame. I really ended up warming to her character after intially promising to always hate her b/c she replaced Ashley.

Out of the two, Miranda certainly. I never liked Ashley, but after meeting her on Horizon it cemented my opinion.

Miranda, and as people have already said it's partly because she's so damn useful in game.

"Hi; I've got nice cleavage, Warp, and my passive ability buffs the entire squad."

Seriously, what's not to love?

I do like that during her loyalty mission the asari chick disses her uniform for being too sl*tty though.

Miranda is only second to Tali for me. I keep them both throughout the game. They both did the last mission with me because I was going to make sure they didnt die and it was great having an all around squad. Guns, Tech, Biotics. Worked out great in taking down every kind of enemy. Nothing like hitting some one with lift then slowing down time while I take away their shields and shoot them full of holes. Yet when they came back down it didnt matter who they were they were dead. I left Liara for Miranda on my first play through and keep Tali close after I found out she was an LI. The woman is bad and Ashley can't touch her on any level. It also doesn't hurt that she is walking around with Yvonne Strahovski's face. I also loved her interview. I mean she looked so real in that thing.

Second play through I'm staying loyal to Ash though, even though she ran the train on me on Horizon...

lol, both women are brainwashed...one by alliance, and one by cerberus, more or less. And...tali, well, not really into aliens...haha

Well, coming to think of it.
One brainwashed by Alliance women
One brainwashed by Cerberus women
One alien teenager women
One blue alien teenager women
One tortured and mentally torn women

Man, Shepard is sc..wed :)

But anyways, if I were to choose one as a lead secondary character to stand beside Shepard, that would be Ashley.
Ash... she is the most human sidekick in the game at least in my opinion.

I think the problem Miranda has that isn't really explored is that the second she sides with you over Cerberus some quiet, professional, nutters are going to turn up at her sister's house and take her out, along with her new family. This is bad.

Frankly I'd be loathe to ever presume the loyalty of somebody who is that emotionally invested to somebody who is, ultimately, a hostage. If the Illusive Man ever posed a serious threat to her sister Miranda would collapse faster than a toilet paper submarine.

Well...the Ass lady has ASS which is way better than having a personality, it seems.

Just kidding. I prefer Ashley - Miranda is just so cold, arrogant and...fanservice-y. Ash grew on me during the first game.

I am glad to see that more people prefer Miranda. How anybody could find Ashley likeable after that scene on Horizon just boggles my mind. Ashley is nothing more than an ignorant, self-righteous bigot who is not that good of a soldier. Her whole squad died on Eden Prime and pretty much the entire colony was abducted on Horizon, and yet she thinks she has to right to judge Shepard? Please!!!

If you read the mission summary the Illusive Man (I assume he writes them) says that Cerberus taking care of Oriana is the thing that's securing Miranda's loyalty. It will be interesting to see if anything happens as a result of Miranda's resignation.
