(Although later that night, I happened to be reading the artbook that came with the ME2 Collector's Edition box and that same spoiler was mentioned in there anyway, so... I guess it was just fated to be. Heh.)

Out of courtesy it would be nice for people label ME2 spoilers or not to give too much away but there is no requirement for that. The fact is there will be ME2 spoilers on this forum and those not wanting to see them should either accept seeing the occasional ME2 spoiler as part and parcel of being on this forum or leave. You can't expect people who have played ME2 to have their hands tied for your convenience.
As for people posting ME2 threads in ME1 boards that has gone on for a long time, here and the old forums, and I have never once seen one locked or moved. They shouldn't but the reality is it happens. Report it if you like but the fact is it will happen again. Yet again live with it or move along.

Aldridge, you're an idiot. No one's complaining about spoilers, they're complaining about MASS EFFECT 2 SPOILERS. They should be on the ME2 official spoiler forum, not here. This forum contains spoilers for ME 1.
At what point did I become abusive or rude towards you or do anything to warant you making disparaging remarks about someone that you dont even know ? I don't recal !! Funny how some people become very brave when they have a keyboard to hide behind !! who the hell do you think you are calling me an idiot. I suggest you take your poisonous opinions elsewhere because it CLEARLY states at the top of the forum that spoilers are allowed.

I hope you learned english as a second language. Also, this isn't the ME2 forum, this is 1 I don't mind spoilers for 1, as I've played it a few times. I don't want spoilers for 2 as i just started it last night. Simple really.

It's a storyline spoiler forum, as I understand it all spoilers are allowed by forum policy, no differentiation between ME1 and ME2. The two stories are so connected that it can be hard to discuss ME1 without going into ME2 spoilers. There are long on going discussions from well into the old forum about various aspects of ME1's story where ME2 gives definitive answers to some of those questions so those ME1 discussions basically can't happen without ME2 spoilers.
Out of courtesy it would be nice for people label ME2 spoilers or not to give too much away but there is no requirement for that. I see your point, but the fact remains that this is a ME1 forum (it even says so right in the title). Any discussion of ME2 information or spoilers should be kept to the ME2 forums. (I have not taken a step in there since the game was released).
I don't mind mild spoilers along the lines of, "Your question as to the true nature of the Reapers will be answered in ME2", but somebody saying something like, "The Reapers are actually all figments of your imagination in a hallucinating Shepard's mind!" is just being inconsiderate.

don't think you have understood the extent of the connection between the two stories. There are aspects of ME1's story that can no longer be discussed without spoiling ME2. I would love to give a concrete example but that would be a spoiler. The fact is those are still things which are much more a part of ME1's story and don't really belong in the ME2 forum. It's not enough to say "Your question as to the true nature of the *blah* will be answered in ME2" because people may actually want to discuss it and this being the ME1 spoiler forum, this is the correct forum.
The bottom line remains this is a spoiler forum and there will be ME2 spoilers when they are relevant to ME1. There is a non-spoiler forum it just sucks a lot at the moment and is too busy to be properly moderated. Now I understand some people are avoiding the other forums to avoid ME2 spoilers but the idea that this forum is and should be 100% ME2 spoiler safe is a misconception: the only thing stopping ME2 spoilers is courtesy not forum policy.

Yes, spoilers are allowed. Spoilers from Mass Effect 1, since this is the Mass Effect 1 Official Campaign Quests and Storylines board. The fact that you cannot see the logic of what three people have told you makes you an idiot.

and refering to me as an idiot and a troll when i have not been insulting or made personal remarks about YOU in any fashion doesnt make YOU a troll.....I suggest you get back under your bridge, I think I hear the goats coming !!

So, be courteous then. Just because you tehnically are allowed to do a thing, doesn't mean you should. Or do you like having people upset at you, and ruining some people's ME2 experience?

You have entirely missed my point. I'm not arguing about whether I am allowed to post spoilers I'm pointing out there will be spoilers for ME2 on this forum, both necessary and from the fact ME2 threads don't get moved. Anyone not wanting to see them should weigh up that risk if they continue in this forum rather than getting angry when they caught out by them.

Except your "logic" is wrong. There are topics which are specific to ME1 the context of which are changed by ME2. Discussion of those topics are still ME1 storyline so should be on this board and not ME2 but need ME2 spoilers. Your assumption that people who have played ME2 won't use this board is wrong as they may well still want to discuss ME1's story. In the longer view who would want to discuss ME1's story and not play ME2? ME2 is still new so some people will not have finished it yet but in time that's going to be a smaller and smaller minority. The value of killing discussion on this forum to protect ME2 spoilers will be very minor. That balance is going to shift over time so expect to see people being more blasé about ME2 spoilers, not less, no matter how much insulting goes on.

Then it SHOULD be forum policy, in my opinion. If people want to discuss those specific aspects of the ME1 story with regards to information that was revealed in ME2, then create a new thread covering that discussion on the ME2 forum. Isn't that the whole point of having a ME2 forum? If it wasn't, then wouldn't Bioware just have created a single 'Mass Effect Storyline' forum and lump all posts into it?
I understand that spoilers are inevitable if one hangs around on these forums; it's a risk one has to take by being part of a community, and I'm fortunately one of those people who doesn't mind too badly if I'm spoiled, but we should at least endeavour to keep the ME1 forum as free of ME2 spoilers as possible.

People on this forum are not interested in ME2 spoilers. And there is no reason to present ME2 spoilers on this forum. The reasons or effects of certain actions in ME1 are affected by ME2, but that is no reason to present spoilers proper in this forum (now spoilers minor, such as saying, "such-and-such a decision leads to something bad in ME2", the badness being unspecified is quite different)
Anyways, the OP had nothing at all to do with this forum. It's not even a spoiler that had anything to do with ME1, even vaguely.

No, the point of the ME2 forum is to discuss ME2 where as there are parts of ME1 that have context in ME2 but are still very much an important part of ME1 but not ME2. I would love to give you a concrete example but as I wrote before that would be a spoiler. As for the reason of the separation ME1 and ME2 forums I think it's mostly so ME1 discussions aren't just drowned out. ME1 does need a separate forum but compartmentalising spoilers is only a very small part of that.

Actually I think you highlight why spoilers are needed. Without spoilers that is what discussions of certain parts of ME1's plot are reduced to, "something good/bad happens". It's a discussions board, and if you look at the old board people want to discuss the plot in great detail, not broad strokes. You can't expect people wanting to discuss those elements of the plot to have their hands tied.

Yet that's the direction the thread took and having perpetuated it yourself there's no point complaining about it. It also goes to demonstrate entirely off topic threads don't get removed from this forum. Anyone who gets a spoiler from something like this really has themselves to blame knowing that, regardless of whether it should be on the forum or not, it is posted here.

Funny. You use an insult that holds no water. Because his spelling is correct except for probably and really. And punctuation.
