Other than the extra mission DLC for the character I have seen almost nothing positive about him on any site, including these very forums. He is even voted as the 'least popular' character in polls that I have taken.

Is the DLC mission that comes with him his Loyalty Mission?

Is he a Soldier class?
My main Shepard is a Soldier and it seems like Garrus is a Soldier too, even though he specializes in using the Sniper Rifle (which would have made infiltrator a better role wouldn't it?) I almost always take Garrus with me on assignment (bromance), so I wouldn't want to take ANOTHER Soldier since I am also that class.

Anyways, I was just wondering about him because his conversations  are always one-sided. There is no interactivity to the dialog, You can't ask him questions, he just gives 'canned' replies when you attempt to engage him on the Normandy SR2.

Any thoughts?

the DLC mission is the normandy crash site, which is not related to him. But he does have a loyalty mission. He is a soldier.

I found him relatively useless and rather bland interaction between missions just as you said, since he just explains some of his past. Which I guess is kinda cool, but doesn't establish an emotional connection with the player like the others do.

His dialog does suck... however he's far from useless.

His loyalty missions gives you his grenade skill-- great AoE ability for Soldiers, as they have little naturally. Also, just because YOU'RE a soldier, and it makes him redundant for YOU, doesn't mean he's useless. He's great if you bring him along while you're playing Adept, Engineer, Infiltrator, or Sentinel.

If you are a vanguard. You can use him and Legion. Priceless. Legion as sniper. Zaeed middle ground and you at the front. Combo. Drone, granade and shockewave. Kills everything.

Zaeed is a great character. I hate that you can't talk to him, but in a way it makes sense. He's a merc. All he's got to share are his war stories. He was also one of my MVPs in the final mission.

I'm a Soldier too, and while he was redundant, I found him to be pretty smart. I thought his AI was good, unlike Miranda who likes to standup in the middle of the battlefield, which is problematic on Insanity. I thought that his stories on the ship where entertaining. Kinda like listening to another, older Renegade Shep.

Well I'm an infiltrator and he compliments me nicely as a soldier, everything dies quite fast

I don't really like him after doing his loyalty mission. He needs a right punch in the mouth. Which my Paragon Shepard Character was almost able to deliver.

However, He was good at what he does.

I disliked him from the very moment I met him, and his loyalty mission makes him out to be a complete ******.

The paragon interupt punch to the head would be the only decent part to the Zaeed content.

I just realized reading this that I only take out squad mates who I find personally interesting, which is why I never take Zaeed. Probably he is pretty useful from a combat perspective, but the lack of interactive dialog makes him feel more like a tool than a member of the team.

His ammo skill is pretty handy versus synthetics.

He is useful since he can handle the enemies for you while you can conserve the ammo. The NPC does not seems to have the ammo restriction like Shepard. With Zaeed and Jack as your teammates, you can just sit back and relax.

Agreed.  It's not that I hate him or think that he is useless, I wanted to see other peoples opinions on him since the poll numbers I saw were low and I have read many comments about how folks just didn't like him.

And him being a soldier is a bonus for people playing a class that could use a soldier as a squad member to increase their odds of survival.

He's a tad underwhelming to be sure, but he could definitely hold his own in a fire fight.

His loyalty mission was so repulsive, I'm not even recruiting him on my second playthrough. Saw him in the spaceport and just kept walking.

i supose he depends on if your paragon or renegade, if your paragon he comes off as a jerk but if your renegade he is exactly the kind of person you want on your team.

I have to say I found him dissapointing as well. I loved the fact he had a British accent though. But lets be honest, did u expect someone with that name to be A) white or B) human? I didn't. Still, Free DLC is free DLC! Thx bio!

I'm glad I got this character for free, as I would certainly not have paid for him.

This character should have been developed just like the rest.but. The fact is Bioware couldn't be bothered to give us a well-developed character, and instead gave us this cheap thing.

I would've much prefered waiting for this character to come out with a backstory similar to the other characters. Even if he didn't have much impact on the story, allowing me to have a conversation would've been good enough. :D

Playing on Insanity, and Zaeed is definitely not useless. He may be the toughest party member I have so far...
