Mass Effect MMO = free to play like WAR?

Perhaps I should update the OP with some new thoughts after a year of game announcements and previews...
For anyone who stumbles across this thread and wonders what the heck I was thinking a year ago, I want to offer proof as to how this concept is actually doable....
www.guildwars2.com
Check out personal storylines, dynamic content, and active combat to see how ArenaNet is making a game that is soooo close to what I mentioned in the OP that it's just flat out silly.
All that would need to happen is that GW2 be changed to the ME universe, converted to a 3rd person action/shooter, and be exclusive to consoles...Then you would have the game I've always dreamed of.

Plus, be very careful what you believe about GW2. In the end many people will be disappointed when they actually play it. ArenaNet has been very careful to tell you what you WANT to hear and not what you SHOULD hear that allows you to be a good consumer.

No, they have SWTOR. Two MMOs is too much of an investment.
I have no idea why people have focused on this...
First of all, MEO (my unofficial name for the game) would be a CONSOLE MMO.
Secondly, MEO would be a Third Person Shooter (TPS) that would have action-based skills similar to ME2 instead of simple button presses which is found in TOR.
Thirdly, MEO would not even begin development until the next generation of consoles is announced...pushing the release date out AT LEAST 7-10 years from now. This would be due to the next gen consoles not being released for about another 4-5 years, with an extra 3-5 years for development time AFTER the console is released.
Therefore, TOR and MEO wouldn't even be in competition with each other due to being on completely different systems, being competely different games, and being in completely different life-cycles.
Why does everyone keep trying to cite the existence of TOR as a reason why MEO couldn't happen?

Um...have you even read what all the game critics have been saying about GW2 in all the trade shows?
EVERY SINGLE FEATURE that ArenaNet has promised would be in its demos has been delivered perfectly.
If you haven't seen gameplay videos and read the previews posted, then I really don't think you are informed about GW2. Unless, of course, you have played the game yourself (which I doubt).
ArenaNet has delivered a MASSIVE, working, smoth, balanced, and innovative demo to thousands of fans and critics alike...I've read just about every preview available for the game, as well as watching gameplay vids....it looks like absolutely nothing else on the market at this time. It certainly looks better than TOR will ever have a chance at achieving (in my humble opinion, of course).

As long as it's for consoles, too.

however their is another option for an ME4 which is an elder scrolls sand box type game which could work well for the ME universe.

My idea would be designed for consoles...
If they wanted to include PC, that'd be fine, but the entire design of the game would be similar to ME2 (and probably ME3), just that you would have more of a progression system along with a much more interactive world.

after ME3 I would love to see a great MMO about ME just for the sake of keeping the ME universe alive, although I don't like MMOs in general (played wow for a while) I would not mind if its done well.
I'm pretty sure they could pull it off...
I just don't know if they would ever want to actually give it a shot.

I really don't see how this would work well with the current combat system... I mean, where do you get the open roaming from in a space game? I guess you could do it with massive planet-size maps, or if you had some form of planet-wide war...would be an interesting concept to consider!

- I am a fan of what MMO's should be. WoW has had it's time in the sun, and the only reason it continues to be succesful is that 9/10 new MMO's are just poorly executed clones. Every time a new MMO comes to market, people rush it because they're starved for something new. They never find anything new however, and in a month or two, eventually slide back to WoW.
- The appeal for me is to give Bioware the platform on which to build the rest of the world that we didn't get to experience. I want to see more of Omega, the Citadel, Illium. I want to play as a Quarian and explore the fleet. So do many people. MMO's allow you an ability to explore worlds that is unparalleled.
- No one wants to see another point and click, mindless grind - cookie cut MMO. I feel that most of the mechanics from the franchise could carry over with relative ease. No need to go to a Dragon Age, style platform.
What myself (and i'm sure many others want) is to see Bioware take that skill and build the universe. Start small, with one system, and build out from there (It can be expanded over time through content expansions). Make it real, make it immersive. Make the mechanics original (for an MMO) and let us explore this universe that we've only gotten a small taste of!
Most importantly.. don't make it for little kids like all the Rated T for Teen, MMO's!
