A nice possibility, the never state directly that all the Protheans died in the first game when you're talking to Vigil.

So TIM is a renegade (obvious)? Sweet!
No, if he were a renegade, he would have red eyes. His are blue.

either an original prothean, or an AI of some sort...
im sure hes gonna be evil in ME3 .. and some sort of event could trigger him to turn against humanity or some ****, who knows..
i still wonder what the restricted things that EDI could do were?
i mean when u first talked to EDI he said there were some sealed things that would open when somethin triggered em etc?

Yes, the Illusive Man is Prothean with a pro-human agenda. Maybe it's because humans are ancient descendants of the last 12 remaining Protheans!

::applause:: -awesome.

Did you guys notice that the sun he looks at is always red. But at the end of the Game the last time we see him his sun is now blue?
Only if you destroy the station, keep it and it's red. It's like the planet at the end of ME1 being blue or red (paragon or renegade)

He doesn't look like a Collector to me
I think he's just an AI.

The Protheans were very heavily modified to become the collectors, though. He also doesn't need to look like one to be one... but I really doubt he's anything but a modified human.
