Anyone else run into this problem? I started Tali's loyalty quest, and as I was reaching the courtyard, I talked to Shala'rann it acted like the trial had already finished. At that point, I couldn't trigger the trial to happen at all and everyone seemed to act like I was heading over to the ship already.
I knew something was screwed up so I restarted the mission and saw that the trial was supposed to start automatically when you get close enough - I imagine you're not *supposed* to be able to talk to Shala'rann before that point, but you can. This seems like a pretty big oversight. I'm not sure what skipping the trial would have done, but given there were some paragon/renegade choices in there, I'd be surprised if things turned out ok.

Same thing happened to me today. I guess I ran past the cutscene and initiated the
conversation with Shala'rann as the TC suggested.
I didn't restart and was able to skip the trial and head to the battle part of Tali's quest. Upon return to the trial, everything seemed to proceed normally. I'm sure I missed some paragaon/renegade points, but I was already 100% renegade so it didn't matter to me.
I assume from TC's post that if I had walked instead of run toward Shala'rann I would've seen the trial cutscene.... good to know if it happens again and I want to restart.
