So RPGs = no emphasis on player skill whatsoever and leave all combat up to randomly determined dice rolls?
Traditionally that's what a roleplaying game is. You act out your part and the "game" factor is through stats and the randomness of dice rolls. D&D was more about imagination than it was twitch reflexes.
When I was a kid I used to play a roleplaying game on the playground. It was called space marine war. I ran around and pointed by imagainary rifle at aliens. ME2 has manifested my boyhood dreams in a video game. How is that any different than D&D? How is ME2 "less" of a roleplaying game because it doesn't have dice rolls?
Play acting != Role Playing.
What?
Play acting does not equal Role Playing. Very often role playing includes play acting, but they are not always the same thing.

So by all your guys standards World of
Warcraft would probably be the best RPG ever correct? It has TONS of
loot, a huge variety of customization, tons of possible characters, a
huge world to explore, and the combat is based off nice comfy
RNG.
Every time, it's this same tired old argument. Other games are not RPGs because they don't share the correct characteristics. WarcraftIII was a strategy because it involed unit production, base logistics, and combat strategy. RPGs do not have logistics and unit production as part of their core. The only aspects that WarcraftIII shared with an RPG is individual protagonist/antagonist characters with a statistical representation that you followed through the game.
