I've installed Dragon Age Origins: Collecters edition onto my PC. when I try to play the game or configure. the utility starts up. then crashes as the loading bar fills up. I don't think its a hardware problem.

Any suggestions?

I have the same issue, emailed EA but no reply yet. I've been able to get around this by running the game straight from daorigins.exe in the game folder, which skips the utility config, you can do it in game. However my game crashes as soon as I get anywhere near Ostragar, so it's a partial fix at best. What system are you running the game on, as other people may have some suggestions. Mine is on an Intel i7 (2.6Ghz) with a GeForce GTX 260 as my graphics card (up to date drivers et al. ofc.).

I have same problem. Did not launch after initial install, so I downloaded and installed patch. Still will not get past Configuration Utility. Windows 7 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64x2 proc, ATI Radeon 5870 with latest drivers.

Well, a year later I haven't come across an answer, but I did find this solution in *another* forum which worked:

I had the same problem, in Vista. Try right clicking on the .exe file (:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\DAOriginsLauncher.exe) and running it as administrator
