God, this is a brilliant idea... I want the Hammerhead about as much, but I'd sacrifice a thousand half-baked extra characters for content like this.

Especially for Thane. He dragged me into his family crap, the least he can do is visit Mindoir with me. I mean, that damned Galactic News thing said that I "maintain ties to the colony"... when did I do that? Dead for two years, all that stuff with the geth beforehand... so it's been maybe four years, and that's "maintaining ties"? So let me do some maintaining already!

I don't have basically any hope for this because it'd probably be too much work and expense, but hell... I'd shell out a good bit of money for this sort of thing. An expansion of the relationships. Especially if it gave you an alternate path to romance Garrus besides having to sound like a pervy turian-fancier.

I really like your idea...DLC with some substance, (or expansion since it would cost money), but realistically, I doubt you would ever see something like that happen.

First Bioware would have to see value in it, from time and resources spent on developing it, and what they would actually make off of it. I realize there are quite a few people who posts on here that would buy your expansion in a heartbeat, but there are equally a lot of folks that wouldn't be bothered with it because it's part of your character building and the in-game relationships.

I'll bump this thread with my comment and hope that BW might see some merit in your idea.

If it's any consolation, I would buy it. :)

The idea of the Romance pack sounds great. I have a couple of suggestions to build on it:

1. I think that on top of quests that Shepard can request of love interest, said love interest could ask Shepard about background (either the Earthborn, Colonist, or Spacer) and how the background and experiences within (revealed by Shepard via choices in dialogue) affected Shepard's development and personality, and could spark a side mission for Shepard/Love interest to undertake

2. Love interest could ask about Shepard's ME1 love interest and how the breakup has affected Shepard, what drew Shepard to his/her ME1 love, and depending on the character, ask if Shepard still loves them, which Shepard can answer yes or no depending on your choice.

If any of this sounds confusing, let me explain further via example if my idea was implemented:

My second ME2 playthrough is as follows:

-Male Commander Shepard, Vanguard

-Earthborn, War Hero

-In ME1, was 100% paragon, no renegade, Made the Paragon choices in all 3 main missions, saved the Council during the fight against Saren

-In origins missions, made paragon choices. Strongly renounced his time with The Reds, prevented the terrorist bomb from going off on that one uncharted planet (forgot mission title)

-romanced Ashley entire time in ME1

-ME2; 100% paragon with only a small bit renegade, achieved 100% loyalty with all the squad and fully upgraded Normandy, but still lost 2 squad members, romanced Tali and saved her's AND her father's reputation in loyalty mission, and destroyed the collector base against Illusive Man's wishes.

Now, if my ideas were implemented in the Romance pack:

-that would mean that Tali could ask my Shepard about his rough upbringing on Earth and his association with the Reds, and how Shepard changed himself and elevated his life above his upbringing. This could spawn a mission where Tali helps Shepard either work with or eliminate the Reds once and for all. Shepard could either reveal his misfortune in having to do dirty deeds or reveal the event that changed his views.

-Tali could ask about Shepard's relationship with Ashley Williams, why Shepard thinks Ashley left him, and how Shepard feels about Ashley now.

the above is purely an example only. There can be many combinations depending on how you would play out the dialogue.

Besides my suggestions, I have nothing else to add to an already awesome idea :D

I am posting in this thread because I would pay for this DLC. I'm all for DLC that adds some kind of depth to the story/game as opposed to DLC that seems forced and only adds gear.

This is a great idea. I have 800 Microsoft points just waiting to be spent on this. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

What I really like about it is that its highly personal. You've really come up with a good piece of dlc, OP.

I would to see some ME2 DLC for the Horizon love interests, whether its a phone call (or the upgraded version of a phone) or whatever, there needs to be more for Ashley/Kaidan to bring Shepard back, at least for those of us who want to remain loyal.

Awesome idea. Garrus keeps talking as if he and Shepard haven't done anything yet... it's stupid.

It would make the whole thing much more personal and develop the characters much more. And it bugs me how Shepard doesn't come out and say 'I love you.'

This would also be a great incentive to continue playing after the main story. Because doing dinky little left-over quests just doesn't cut it.

I would totally buy a DLC like this.

DLC: You could have Shepard and his li go away on a little couples getaway after the team's big "suicide mission" to rest and blow off some steam, when the couples get attack by an unknown assassin. They are saved by one of their teammates, but they don't know that fact and the teammate could be the li's rival. For example: If your li is Miranda, then maybe Jacob or Jack shows up to save the day. If its Jacob, then Shepard may think that Jacob still has feelings for Mir or that Jack has feelings for Shepard or maybe even Ashley shows up. So now you have this internal fighting/arguing and mistrust from teammates as to why the teammate is actual there since the couple didn't see the actual assassin, the teammate tries to prove that someone is after the couple. If your li is Tali, maybe Legion shows up or if its Jack, then Miranda shows up to save them. Anyway, depending on your Li, it also affects which mission you get. If your li is Miranda, then maybe the Illusive puts a "hit" on the couple because of what Shepard did with the Reaper base and Miranda quit Cerberbus. If your female Shepard and li is Thane maybe past job that Thane did comes back to "even" the score. Also, you can play the dlc no matter what happens in the mass effect 2 game cause one option would be to let you pick options at the start of the dlc to set up the quests and storyline. It will ask if you are male or female Shepard, who you're li is, and so forth, or you can download the info from your saved games, similar to what was done from ME1 to ME2. By letting you pick the info to start the dlc you can play all missions with each li. Now this is just some suggestions on who shows up and what the story maybe about, you could even have an enemy from li's past show up (I just throwing up idea's). But it would be a good way to increase interest in the romantic subplots and get some dlc for the game. Just an idea...

I like your idea OP(and I agree with you on the Normandy DLC, I wanted to hear Garrus',Tali's, or Joker's opinion on the wreckage escpecially), the development of the relationship even further would be wonderful. Only two things are missing in my opinion.
1. ME1 LI's, I don't know how they'd do it, but it would be nice to see them beyond casual conversations or the dreaded single, unrepliable e-mail.:crying:
2. A non-romance pack. This isn't really an addition to your well thought out plan, but rather a different bit of DLC for those with no LI that still want to learn of more Shepard's past. Instead of a conversation with an LI to bring up the backround quests, maybe with Chakwas/Joker/Tali/Garrus since they've known you since the beginning.

All in all, I think any storydriven DLC would be nice, help us out here Bioware!

The unfortunate problem with the DLC that the OP mentions is that BioWare has shown itself extremely reluctant to even think about that sort of thing. Take a look at Kaiden, Ashley, and Wrex. Reduced to cameos with about a paragraph of dialogue. Why? Because it wouldn't be accessible to everyone. It would take a lot of effort to do that sort of DLC justice, and only, what, a tenth of the players would purchase and view each one?

ME showed that BioWare seems to view DLC as secondary, and disconnected to the main plot and story. The sort of DLC the fans want to see, continuing story and character development, is something they (to this point) seem to think is too risky to implement.

I hope for DLC like this. Where we get to know the characters better, and explore more of the universe and backstories. But I fear we won't get it.

I would pay 40$ for that.
And I am highly supportive of the OPs original idea. The post-endgame romance is cute with all the cuddling, but it needs some expansion, since Tali still talks to me as if what happened before the suicide mission never existed.
This DLC has my full support.

I would definitely pay money for an expansion of the romantic subplot between characters. I'm not sure about the likelihood of it though. They may want to keep it open-ended for the players' imaginations. That's just the flip side of the argument (among others.) I still would like to see at least some more dialogue. Expanding more on the characters' backstories (romantic or otherwise) would be great.

I'm especially worried about that last bit, as something like that could get lost in the next game. Not overlooked, but not a priority among all the amazingness that is sure to come.

In short, I support expanded personal DLC!!!

I'd definitely buy this.Given the scope we'd all like, they could even make it into a full-fledged expansion, like they did with Throne of Bhaal or like they're doing with DAO: Awakening.
If they do it, though, it will most likely be a story-driven expansion, delving somewhat deeper into every character's background. Like a set of new loyalty missions with some overarching plot line to hold everything together, e.g. finding a surviving collector outpost or uncovering some other proof of reaper meddling.
The single-character-centered DLC would be even far more awesome if done right, but not lucrative enough for them to make it, I fear. The audience for each one would be too narrow.Except perhaps for the one for Tali, as evidenced by her prolific fanbase B)

This would be great. I'd pay whatever amount for it. Lack of dialogue/commentary was a big issue and more romance development would be nice.

Yes if it includes a satisfactory explanation to why ME1 LI suddenly joins you on SR2.

No if not.
