Best class for insanity difficulty?

Started my insanity playthrough as a sentinel, and it's tough! Since almost every enemy has shields and armor, it seems like sentinel has the best skills to deal- overload and warp. Plus, I (so far) don't see any reason to take team members with me that don't have one of those (Miranda for sure, Thane, Garrus). Since biotics don't have an effect on shields/armor, being an adept seems useless, as does taking full biotic squaddies along.
People who have played on insanity: what was your class and why, and how did it work out? Which (in your opinion) are the best squadmates to take?

I agree with your post though, any teammate that doesnt help take down shields or armor is useless.

Shields are more useful than Health beacause
1. You get about double the amount of Shields compared to Health, and the Guardian + gear + Miranda is usable by any class, and so the 40% extra health bonus for a shock trooper is trivial anyways.
2. You don't get thrown back by biotics with it on
3. It is the first thing to be taken off, so you can spam tech armor or some shield boost constantly
4. There are some useful upgrades like hard shields (20% off shield damage) and another one (forgot its name) that puts your shields back on instantly.
Another reason Sentinel is good is because every class can be made into a decent gunner. The Vindicator is very strong at any range and your really not losing that much if your rolling with a Garrus with Armor Piercing squad ammo. Plus smgs and pistols can already take down any defense if used correctly.
If i'm alone against a shielded opponent, I can melee some of the stronger enemies to death and live on insanity (melee works well against armor).
Sentinel is also one of the only two classes (the other being soldier) that gains powers that can take down each and every defense as well.

Also the tali loyalty quest can be a pain with the geth hunters rushing you.

The only problem with Sentinel is that they have like no offense, and I've heard a lot of people have problems on the last boss, just simply because they can't kill it.

Last boss was easy, it just takes a while because hes the only armored opponent that Warp does absolutely no damage to. Besides, Cain kills him just like any other class.DrDoom6 wrote...
Infiltrator or Sentinel.

I'm playing an Infilitrator on Insanity right now, my only problem comes when Husks and varen swarm since I'm usually trying to snipe other things and don't notice their approach.
That happens to me sometimes, my best advice is to have Grunt or Zaeed with you so they can knock it down with Concusive Shot.

Most health, Adrenalinaline Rush is basically a 5 sec I win button and with the best constant damage output in the game..this is no contest.
but Infiltrator is close. Vanguard is hard to play but if you master charge you can kill really fast, even on Insanity. I have not played as Sentinel yet, so no idea about that class.

If they still don't have shields or armour on Insanity, Pull Field is also effective.

I took like three fire balls on veteran at once and it didn't even knock my shields down half way. Not to mention I couldn't energy drain anything yet. Harbringer aka the collector boss was more annoying.DrDoom6 wrote...
Cain might but I'm not gonna jump up and take all that time for that stupid thing to load and shoot. Besides Plasma Rifle is where it's at.

If you're early in the game, trust me, it gets a lot easier.
Using Barrier as my bonus power helped me a lot when I got it early, I redid my points so I only had 1 in charge so I could get more barrier hehe. Because frankly early on you die way too fast to use charge most of the time.
Once you get the AR or the Sniper Rifle things get better also.
Basically, don't fight up close with shotguns. Not worth it (unless they're charging you of course). Use your squad to blow up enemy shields and then pull them to their deaths. Never shoot husks past removing their armor: your biotics kill unarmored husks instantly.

Veteran isn't Insantity. You can't jump out like that on Insantity and expect to live more then a couple of seconds.

You can take down shields/barriers/armor really fast with the Revenant Machine Gun. Then you add in Legion with a Widow Anti-Material Sniper Rifle (and extra shields to boot), and Miranda/Samara/Garrus (Overload, Warp, Reave) and you are good to go.
The only mission that gave me any trouble was Zaeed's loyalty quest. Then again, I did it around level 27-28. You get swarmed by 6-8 guys with flamethrowers and whew. Then you throw in a Heavy Mech...I couldn't keep my squad alive for more than a minute.
Other than that one mission, I thought the rest of the game was relatively easy. Adrenaline Rush is really useful once it's upgraded to Hardened and you take 50% less damage when it's in effect.
Good luck...

... Damnit, I already chose the shotgun when the choice came along. I'm using NG+. Thanks for the advice though, I hadn't thought of leaving charge at 1 to build up barrier.
