I know how you feel. Tali is so well done that I wish she was real. Wanted to romance her in the first game but Bio Ware did me a solid by making me wait. They gave her a very deep story and some of the best emotional reach in the game. That is saying something since you cant even see her face. The only issue with a character this good is that it blurrs the line of reality for you if you are the type to really get into your RPGs. You could end up really falling in love with something that is not real. Just goes to show you what good art does. It makes you feel.

Tali for the win!

I am willing to throw myself to the wolves and say that I actually fell in love with Tali. I know she's not real, but she is so well done that she could be. During the final mission I kept her in my squad the whole time because I didn't want her to die. After you beat the reaper, when all of the platforms are falling, I felt a deep feeling of dread when I saw Tali laying on the ground with a metal slab on top of her. I was on the edge of my seat hoping that she wasn't dead. I have even found myself unable to sleep because I was thinking about her. Kind of creepy, I know, but I can't help it.

I tip my hat to you BioWare.

Too bad she's not into girls.. The Male Shepard's voice/facial expressions really just annoy the living ****** out of me every time I see it.. /ugh.

lol

YUCK

Tali would never be like that.

Why not? Care to explain your deeper insight into the mind of the Quarian? :?

haha, so true, plus the paragon hug was great.

The hug was great, but my favorite was at the end:

Shepard: "Tali, you deserved better than this."

Tali: "I did get better, Shepard. I got you."

Such a strong moment.

Wait when did she say that? I dont remember that.

When you talk to Tali after the verdict at her trial. I don't think the verdict matters.

Man I was all chocked up when she said that. Their's is a true fairy tail romance. The kind most people on read about in books but it feels so real when you are immersed in the game. She is just such a well made character.

I don't agree. It wasn't fairytale, because fairytale is unrealistic. Talimance actually struck me as a very realistic romance. She has a crush on Shepard, he reciprocates, and that's that. The only problems are logistic, with Tali needing to find a way to be with Shepard safely.

I agree that Shepard defending Tali at the hearing, and being with her when she found her father, was top notch. It really added a lot to their relationship. Just remember that this part could easily apply to Tali+Shep friendship as well as Talimance.

Yes, that was one of the best moments. Together with the hug interrupt. I mean, she actually acknowledges Shepard being more that the Fleet. It's quite something, and her voice actress plays that one just right.

When you call her to your quarters later, and "rest" on the bed, does anyone else get that strangely-comforting-yet-sad feeling? I mean, it looks sweet - the well-deserved rest of a hero - but because of the mask, it has that odd note... Not sure how to describe it.
Either way, she's definitely the best female romance out there. I hope they won't ruin her with a face scanned off some real-world person. It usually goes right into the uncanny valley.

I don't know about it being in the valley. Miranda and Liara both worked for me. They are based on real life actresses and they both look amazing. In fact Miranda's interview for the commercials and her stills just look amazingly real. It almost saddens me that none of that stuff is used in the actual game. They went with completely different textures.  As for Tali's face we at least know two things about it.  It seems to have a humanoid shape and she has glowing eyes.  I really can't wait to see her.  I just hope when we do she is safe in a clean room.

I honestly believe that we will never see Tali's face. At this point, anything Bioware come up with will be hated by too many people. There's no way they can reveal it and get away with it.

After Mass Effect 2, yes.
I can safely say I have been converted completely. Liara ain't got nothin' on her!
Though I did stick with Liara the first time around... just so I won't get my Engineer's ass kicked by a biotic blast in Mass Effect 3.

I love Tali. She was one of my favorite people in ME1 but ME2 really concreated it in. I would like to see what she looks like behind her mask but that won't change how much I like her. She could look like Predator and I would still love her. =P

LOL, i can understand your frustration (and I'm a Tali fan).  It just goes to show you how much time BioWare spent on character development for her.  I also get the same impression about Garrus's character too.

I am right there with you. I keep her and Miranda with me the who time because I didn't want anything to happen to either one of them. My heart fell to the floor when she was hurt and even my wife was in shock at my reaction. I told her plain and simple that if she stayed with me she would not die and that I would not send her into the vents alone. At the time I started a relationship with Miranda before I knew that Tali was going to be available so they both were important to me. It hurt too having that conversation with her and knowing that she knew about Miranda. I had to do another play through so I could be totally loyal to her.

She quite probably has a more alien look than most other humanoid species, most of her fans who would find her a nice "love interest" option probably don't realize that they would back track about that idea the day she removes that helmet of hers... and... I mean, look at her feet, she has what, two big pointy toes? Gah... don't know about you guys but I'll stick to the Asari when it comes to "alien attraction" or "exotic interests", it's as far as I can go.

Her character, however, and her voice, makes her very unique and adorable as well, I mean it, she's great, I actually cried during her own side quest, she's part of the "family" since ME1, still is there in the new Normandy, I couldn't ask for more, and that's the whole point, I wouldn't see my Shepard sleeping with a Quarian, I'm almost certain without being certain in the absolute sense of it that if they do remove their suit, female or male, would suddenly make lots of people think more than twice about it, according to art sketches and Ascension they actually look almost reptilian, think Drell with some Asari-like "hair" extensions at the back.

Anyways, I "love" the character as a very valuable, or even invaluable part of the crew, but for romance... without being sure at 100% I'd still say no.

I definitely will have a play-through picking Tali. Afterall, Kelly tells you she has a thing for you. ;)

BTW: Someone else posted this in another thread...if you DON'T want to see what Tali might look like under the mask, DON'T click the link. If it doesn't matter to you, the picture could very well be the concept they used for Tali

Tali was a much better character in ME2, i'm not really seeing what everyones pull is for the lover interest though, i just want to know what Quarians look like outside the envirosuits.

My top 3 characters though are...

Garrus - Dunno he's like a battle brother, my Shepard and Garrus were best pals in ME1 and 2, preferred him in 2 though as he was a lot darker.

Mordin - This guy is quality, so funny from his actions to the way he speaks ect.

Joker - Really sarcastic cripple that can outfly anyone and is on the verge of romance with an AI, nuff said really...

I think one of the reasons Tali's romance works so well is that when she finally manages to explain that she secretly has had a big crush on Shepard for years, it's somehow believable because I have litterally known her for years now, since I bought Mass Effect 1 back when it was released.

I liked Tali then, but I was never one of the super fans and I didn't realize until recently just how much people had been going on about romancing her in ME2. So when bought ME2 and realized that Tali seemed a bit more mature now and then she mentions her crush on Shepard, it felt quite natural to imagine that I really had not seen her the way she hoped for all this time (being to busy chatting up Ashley as I recall...)

It sucks only having one optional squad spot because Tali is always there.

Tali is the only choice really. Otherwise you'll have to choose from crazy tatted-up b*tch with a bald head or Buckteeth McButterface or a asari with some sort with voodoo mind control sh*t that kills you if you bed her.

I'm sorry I am a Tali fan but I like Miranda as well.  Not as much as Tali but I see nothing wrong with her features.  Some times small flaws make a person look better.  Her teeth are made just like Yvonne's.

They really know how to push our buttons, that's for sure. She embodies all the qualities of our ideal woman. Like somebody else pointed out, she's strong and intelligent, yet vulnerable and shy. Add the mistery, her faithfulness and we're powerless to resist.

She's always been my favorite character, but during her loyalty mission/romance in ME2 I felt I had crossed some boundary. I was shocked when I realized what my intense, strangely familiar feelings were. I was hopelessly in love with her. A fictional character. From a videogame.

So, no, you're not alone and yes, this game, while not perfect, is well worth the money.
