Sorry to hear that, it sucks. I was once burgled and I was living in a small community that time, we found out who it was, and I can say that in the end, he returned the stuff right onto my doorstep, didn't take much pursuation.

was it two-fisted persuasion:whistle:

Make sure to file a police report, for your protection, and as a record if/when they catch the thief. Take pictures of everything before you clean up (or whatever you can now) for insurance purposes and if the cops or courts need any evidence in the future. If anything with any of your personal information on it was stolen (credit card or bank statements, for instance), or check pads, contact your bank immediately. Put fraud alerts on your name with every credit reporting agency in your country (in the US Equifax, TransUnion, etc.). Change your locks and secure your windows. Keep track of everything that was stolen and all you had to spend on clean up, changing locks, etc. That kind of thing might be a tax write-off depending on your situation--an accountant or tax advisor could give you more info on that.

Hope the situation improves for you soon.

I did not have contents insurance. I was investigating getting some.

Police report has been files, and the larger (chain) second hand shops have been given serial numbers and the police incident number.

The police saw the damage and have a description of what happened.

None fo the spare keys were taken, so no need to change locks.

All active credit cards were on me at the time, and I am monitoring my accounts.

Burglary cannot be written off on tax in Australia.

Anestis.
