Same thing happens with me. Had about 95% paragon and I still couldn't get the two of them to stop catfighting without outright choosing sides.
My only conclusion is that if you bonked Jack or have initiated the start up romance conversation with Miranda then maybe it's impossible to satisfy both of them, but that's pretty gay.
Anyone shed light on this particular issue? Or at least point out whether you had started a romance between one of the two before you resolved it?

I have the PC version and have had no problem, but I have only done one play through.

People pointed out that it may have to do with the previous conversations you had with them.

If that's the case could some of the successful charmers/intimidators provide some insight into the conversations you had with them prior to the catfight?

Well, mostly... I think - be nice if somebody confirmed.
Anyway, I was doing my paragade - saw that I was about half a bar away from max paragon and I still had half my loyalty missions left including Jack. But after reading all these posts about people having 100% and not getting the option it occurred to me that aside from having 100% par or ren all these people were also waiting towards the end in order to get that option.
Even though my meter wasn't maxed out I immediately went to do the mission and found that the option was indeed available even though the meter wasn't maxed out. So, if this theory pans out, it comes back to not having the argument too late in the game as well as having enough points to get the neutral/impartial option.

I didn't romance either Jack nor Miranda during the catfight and the option was available for me, so it might be tied to romance.
Oh Bioware, why must you do this?!
The whole conversation unlocked according to Paragon/Renegade status has just turned out to be a giant buggy confusing clusterf*ck.
I want me some Persuade skill.

Increase your class power, and if you are really nervous evolve into the mastery that gives +100% Paragon/Renegade. Done both scenes at least three times now and never a problem.yummysoap wrote...

Did you guys try to restart from a save during Jack's mission? It might just be a temporary glitch.

It's not tied to romance, I play a female Paragon, was able to diffuse Tali and Legion, but not Miranda and Jack, both occured close to the end of the game.. I left those missions for last.
Will do those missions first next time around.

Nope, not the solution. Just finished the scene with my imported shepard. Did it as last loyalty mission (except Legion).. Worked fine. 100% Paragon.
What I also did: I explored more, I switched the crew I took with me more often.
Don't know the real solution, somehow I believe it has to do something with importing or not importing from ME1.
