I defused both situations (on the 360) as a Paragon (I also had 50% renegade, though I don't think that matters).

Going for the 100% bonus version of your class skill helps a lot.

I sided with jack and thought that with 100%paragon ...later in the game I could use the "be the better woman option" in Mirandas office...but nope 100%paragon and it's still greyed out--WTF!

I'm sure I did it on PC and Xbox, both times male characters (if it changes anything), and I don't think I had max Paragon. I am sure however that I had on the first character the evolve that gives +100% P/R points, while on the second one I went with the +70% option. Won't be able to find the exact save now, but I will check, since I'm replaying through it again.

Did you guys try to restart from a save during Jack's mission? It might just be a temporary glitch.

I've played 3 times and never had this problem, with either Jack/Miranda or Tali/Legion.  I was also playing an imported FemShep from ME1.  I think it's just some kind of temporary bug, because it's never happened to me on any playthrough.

Ok, so every one seems to have problems with the Miranda/Jack question only when one or the other side quest is done later in the game. On 3 runs I have have never had a problem with this. or the tali legion.

For Miranda/jack you need to NOT start the romance with either after doing one of their loyalty missions. So if this means you do the missions back to back fine, or you don't talk to them and only start the romance until after this scene. Why is this so hard to understand?

If you have started a romance with either, the paragon and renegade option will be greyed out no matter if you have 100% ren or par.

WHY? because that is how emotions work, if I just told the girl I loved to kiss and make up(for the sake of the job/quest/mission) with a girl that was pointing a gun at her face well the romance would be gone. she would no longer want to be involved with me, now If I loved the other girl (that was pointing the gun in the others face) and told her the same thing (we have to get along for the mission) well she would no longer be willing to be in a relationship with me.

WHY??

Because either the paragon and renegade option would have told the girl that I was starting to get a romance on with that I cared more about the mission than her.

Jeezus, I know there are a lot of young guys out there playing this, and fine you want to see it in binary (ON, or OFF) but in real life as the have done really well to portray here it is not like that. Its all grey man all grey.

It's weird how Bioware did the charm/intimidate thing in ME2. I had plenty of renegade/paragon for certain options yet could do neither.

No it is not actually weird at all, it is all based on your previous conversations with those characters.  can NO one other that I see Biowares geniuss in implementing this?

Actually, no. If it's because of the romance then the Para/Ren options still should be in there, but you'd risk ending the romance if you picked them. A choice between preserving the loyalty of both but losing romance, and preserving the romance but losing the loyalty of the other one would be much more "ingeniuous" than forcing the player down one route.

And it still doesn't explain what's up with the Tali/Legion check, I mean, I was running a femShep, and unfortunately I can't romance Legion either

Yeah this is really suckish. I've played through with an imported maleshep and i diffused both... But then with a non-imported femaleshep i can't persuade Miranda to like me again. I think i will put Miri in my squad for the final mission so she doesnt die. I have 100% paragon on my femaleshep and I had about 75% on my maleshep at the time.

AAAArgh!!!!!! I kept Miranda in my squad for the final mission but she still died. She was the only death. I wonder if she would have survived had she been loyal. Funny though, the computer says she was not loyal, yet when I decided to screw over TIM and he told Miranda to stop me, she told him to go to hell basically.

Not sure if this was said before, but what if the Rene/Paragon thingies sort of affect each other in those things. I know they didn't want to take the ''Be bad your meter goes up and turn good and it starts to go down again''- route, but maybe it still carries along as ''burden'' the other route still harming the other.

On the other hand, if you don't have Jack's loyalty, she might die on the suicide mission, which is a good thing, right?

Yea, I cannot get Miranda and Jack to make nice either. No matter how high my para is. I will try the no romance route next and go from there. It is a bit irritating I do admit.

From what I understand your ability to charm/intimidate is not actually directly tied to your paragon/renegade bar; instead, the game keeps track of how many missed opportunities of paragon/renegade points you had and then has a percentage score that determines whether or not you can charm/intimidate. If the character is not imported it's unlikely that you'll be able to defuse some of the intraparty conflict. Imported characters have it a bit easier since they have that 'buffer' of paragon or renegade points to allow them a few conversation options where they chose the neutral or renegade one.

The sooner in the game you get to that conflict the better your chances of keeping both of them loyal. The later you leave a situation in the game, the higher the scores for paragon/renegade are. I did this conflict BEFORE doing the Collector Ship mission with just over two bars of Paragon and could use the Paragon choice.

Same with Samara's mission. Granted, this one is -much- easier to pull off with an ME1 import because of the moral buffer.

I'm a little surprised at how many people haven't figured this out, usually I'm the last one to know something...

I've found that by doing the Zaeed, Miranda and Jack loyalty missions ASAP the persuade option is always available. Whenever I've done them later in the game, no amount of Paragon/Renegade works.
