So I'm planning on writing a fanfic for this amazingly written game and I have a question about a character I wanted to write.

Do you guys think it could be possible that an apostate mage could be raised as a warrior instead of a mage? Not an arcane warrior exactly as his muscles and strength are well, his. :P I guess the way I want to write him is sort of that of a paladin or cleric and even then he rarely uses his healing abilities. There's only one scene I have planned where he uses offensive magic and it requires a large amount of lyrium. I like to write my stories so they fit nicely in the universe. I don't like trying to change the things too much that the writers had envisioned. I don't want him to come off as some out of place, stupid powerful guy. I also plan on making him sort of an opposite to Alistair that falls in love with the male warden. Seeing Alistair get jealous over nothing cracks me up inside. ( I got bored and wrote some banter to explore the relationships)

I want this story to include a lot about mages and magic in general. I also really want to include Dagna in the warden's group. I find her such a wonderfully fascinating character!

I guess I'd just like some opinions. Too farfetched?

Apostate? Sure. But mage first then warrior, I think.

So he doesn't want to be a mage or he's becoming a warrior to hide the fact he's a mage? :)

My first thoughts would be that you'd need a good reason for him to not have been raised in the Tower. Without the aid of another (unlicensed) mage he wouldn't be able to hide his abilities, I don't think, or that's the impression I got from the Connor situation at Redcliffe.

Second thoughts are his abilities to learn spells. Do they pop into his head? Does he get taught them? Does he discover them on his own (which could be very dangerous)? Things to consider. :)
