Alright, apparently reapers can divide by zero.

If i remeber correctly the whole purpose of ME1 was stopping 'Nazara'  from openng up a mass relay to send in the reapers. And of course, we stopped it.

Fast forward to ME2 blow up baby arnold and then...the reapers come in anyways?

So if teh reapers can just fly in at anytime they please why the **** did they leave soveriegn to bring them back?! wouldn't it make more sense to come in and suprise rape the galaxy? doesn't make sense.

There stuck behind the relay in citadel. Through it is a whole galaxy owned by them.

Are we sure they have escaped from darkspace in the end of the second one? Also, I'm sure we'll find out how they did it, if they have.

FTL travel =/= relay travel.

because the reapers could not use the relay's, they have to rely on FTL travel from deep space. this takes a significantly longer amount of time to do. we are talking years perhaps.

the citadel relay is one of convenience for the reapers, as much as it is a trap. without being able to use it, their conquest of the galaxy is not only delayed, but made a bit more difficult

They use the citadel to insta jump into the heart of galactic power, they then take out the galactic leaders, isolate the mass relays and terminate inter system communication. thus effectively isolating every system.. this enables them to swiftly and without opposition begin a campaign of harvesting.

However, now they seem to be traveling towards the galaxy in the "traditional" sense, which I assume would take a lot more time than using the insta Citadel relay. Also, they wont have that initial element of shock and awe of taking control of the citadel and people may notice several Drednought reaper fleets consiting of thousands of ships bearing upon them.

The first way is efficient, the second way is more time consuming but the end result is the same...

Part of their process is eliminating the central galactic government that inevitably forms around the Citadel, cutting of space faring civilization's head so its body will whither and die, or at least be easier pickings. In a stand-up fight Reapers could actually be killed (and have been before), so they like to come in through the Citadel. Plus it takes years to get to the galaxy without using the mass relays.

i assumed they were still in dark space (which i'm guessing is past the omega 4 relay?) during the ending, but they were gathering. i'm also assuming that if they can fill two whole games witht ehir lackies, finding some in the 3rd one who actually lets them out shouldnt be hard.

I suspect it has something to do with the dark energy mentioned in ME2... that sort of thing is generally foreshadowing.

Nope, Omega 4 lead to the galactic core.

Well this would make sense except for the fact that if the reapers can wait 50 million years, they can't wait another 2 years to get her? I mean they were still pretty far but if they're goin FTL they'll make it pretty quick.

I thought they were in some form of hibernation?

Dark space is just their fancy way of saying intergalactic space. You know, empty space without stars. I think Sovereign says as much in ME1. There's nothing to bug them out there, but it takes forever to get back to the galaxy and uses up a lot of energy or other respurces if you can't travel via relay.

Remember, ALL the Mass Relays can be shutdown and locked through the Citadel. THAT was the whole point of Soveriegn getting to the Citadel. He would open a backdoor allowing all the other Reapers to get there then shut off and seal the Mass Relays from use by anyone other then the Reapers.

This isolates every system in the galaxy, cuts off galactic communication, cuts off any chance of a galaxy wide alliance to fight back, and makes everyone easy pickings for the Reaper fleets.

With that strategy now gone, and their new human reaper destroyed, their last resort is to presumably power on the fleet and take the galaxy down the hard way.

Also remember that Vigil said on Illos that even the Reapers fear a galaxy wide alliance against them, because as powerful as they are apparently even they can't stand up against EVERY other being in the galaxy if they all united against them. Hence why they wouldn't just all rush in before trying their other methods first.

Edit: It appears I've been Image IPB'd

I guess that makes sense. I just figure with them being super computer gods they would have soem kind of fail safe or at leats a plan B...
If they are coiming here personally they're gonna be  piiiiiiissed...well as pissed as an "Old Machine" can be...

In the ending - they were in front of the Milky Way galaxy. They're not far away from attacking.

Presumably their Plan B is what we take down in ME 2.

Well... ONE Reaper (Sovereign) couldn't stand against the entire galaxy. Hundreds/thousands/millions of Reapers, through?

Uh, they are QUITE a far way away, especially for travel without relay.  Take in mind how long it takes you to travel from system to system inside on "sector" and that you CANT travel from sector to sector except via Mass Relay.

Then realize the fact they're outside the Milky Way disc completely and are cruising in without any form of Relay.

Their incentive for using the relay and wanting to do so is simple. If you could effectively teleport from California to Washington DC in 2 seconds, or drive, which would you use?

As seen in game, they may be Gods, but as the Spartans proved even Gods bleed. Some other round of sentient life in the galaxy put a mass accelerator round in one of their faces and they took none to kindly to it. We're just here to ensure that we get that same opportunity. If we are to face death, let it at least look us in the eye before we fight.

This is also why they had to make a new reaper since they are kinda stuck in darkspace for the moment. Just a matter of time before they reach known space.

If they're using normal FTL, how are they storing several years of fuel? Also, how are they avoiding the drive-charge problem associated with FTL travel? Ships have to stop after a few days of cruise, maximum, to discharge somewhere. You can't discharge into vacuum.

Hard to tell right now, ME1 was:

1 Reaver + Geth VS 1 Alliance Fleet + Citadel Fleet + 1 Dreadnaught.

ME 3 could have Reaver vs every race we know already + more.

Well they are reapers and made the Mass Relays and the citadel maybe their FTL is closer to Relay speed

"... they've gone to plaid!"
