Radical muslims have joined their voices with crazy christians over Dragon Ages gay sex scences.  Condeming the game Zev and Lelianna deeming them the works of Satan.  Seriously?  I really can't tell the difference between Chrisitans and Muslims.  I'm not gonna give these nutjobs a link but you can google Dragon Age Outrage to see what I'm talking about.

I think my favorite was the quote "Another example of liberals forcing you to become homosexual"

To which I reply, "Another ignoramus hooting and beeping about a game he or she has never played. Rock on."

I actually haven't seen any religious outrage over Dragon Age. Are you just going to random blogs and picking this up?

Because I can find websites where people claim the earth is a cube. I suppose 'random interweb person outraged at gay sex' isn't as interesting a thread title.

Given that Satan was entirely fabricated by the Vatican to deride those who opposed them (the word even means adversary), I'd take that as high praise.

Hmmm... As a Christian myself, I find the rape to be the most offensive, actually. I shall say nothing more on this matter, however.

Of all the things religious nut jobs COULD object to in this game, it boogles my mind that they focus on the 30 second sex scenes . . . Or is it that two people of the same gender can actually fall in love and have a commitment?

Are you freakin kidding, n here I thought I've heard it all... it's a game... I don't know whether I want to lmfao or go over to the site n give them a so not nice piece of my mind... of all the things in the world, somebody has to complain about a game because it has gay sex scenes WOW

Like I said I'm not going to link hate filled web-sites to this board. You can do your own research and yes there is an uproar among religious groups. Pat Robertson and the 700 club have spoken out about it and its been talked about it the media and such. In fact they were just mentioned it on G4 during XPlay today. Heres something tame

So what? The Christian Right targets all kinds of silly things for equally silly reasons. And really, after Pat Robertson's comment on Haiti, is anyone bothering with his rantings? If you're enjoying the game then that's that.

I too found the rape offensive, but that has more to do with me not being a psychopath and less to do with my religious leanings.

The funniest thing about all of these articles is that they really only complain about Zev ... and Leliana the religous bisexual (who I suspect prefers girls anyway) is completely ignored. I'm sure theres some complaing about her but really they just freak out about the 2 naked dudes.

I haven't seen any either. And I'm an evangelical Christian.

Anyone can claim to be anything really. Just because someone claims to be of a religious/social/cultural/secret decoder ring group doesn't mean that they are, or are the best representation of such group. More to the point just because one guy/girl/group of people say that dragon age is offensive to their views doesn't mean everyone else in that group feels the same way.

Conservative website, WorldNetDaily, wrote about the incident for their readers, and titled the piece, humorously,
Players have dirty 'gay' sex in hit game

lol?

and then this aswell:
Though for the oblivious teenager who is not careful about what s/he is
doing they might end up learning more about how gay men do it.

as far as i can remember there where no details at all so how can someone learn how gay men do it? roflwtf

lovely how they pick the worst out of 3 options of how to deal with the conner situation aswell in the linked article

I suppose that means that gay men have sex with their knickers on :D

And I agree with the posters that point out that anyone can claim to be a representative for any given faith.  That doesn't mean that the majority, or even a large portion, of the members of that religion agree with them.

I was curious about how some people might feel about the whole Andraste/Chantry depiction.  Yes, it's not the Christian church, but it certainly has the flavour of the medieval Church.  Is a fantasy religion that shares some outward characteristics of a real religion less offense to those of that faith than using the actual religion would be?  If the Andraste's Ashes quest had been replaced with the Quest for the Holy Grail (hush, all you Python fans), would it be bothersome?  Speaking for myself, no, but I'm not an evangelical/fundamentalist, either.

Unlikely, at least for players. Indiana Jones did a pretty good job of it, and of recovering the Ark of the Covenant. Of course, it also depicts what happens when these are used for the wrong reasons. *is now secretly wishing Genitivi's face will melt off*

It is not just the gay sex scenes, but any sex scene in a video game is the subject of objection. It is like the M rating on the game does not mean anything. No Dragon Age is not Super Mario Brothers. You find more sex in a Playboy magazine than in DA.
But some groups like to point to DA with it "dirty gay sex scenes" and cry foul. See how the entertainment industry is corrupting our youth! Da is teaching our youth about gay sex. Really if any youth is learning about gay sex from the scenes in DA they are in serious trouble.
It is an adult game that tackles very mildly and tastefully some mature themes.
But it allows some far right or far left individuals to get on their soapboxes and rally their audience.
They will find something new later on to complain about and DA rage will be a memory. I am liberal in some matters and conservative in others, but even for me some actions just go way over the top.

Heh, I really don't hold normal, rational christians and muslims responsible for things fringe fundamentalists say. That's like blaming them for that wingnut who protests soldier's funerals saying that their deaths are punishment for allowing homosexuality. There are lunatics in every walk of life.

Fire Dragon076,

In the link you gave:

http://clipsandchips...video-game.html

The writer at the end of the piece equates having sex with an elf to beastility!?

Will writers never cease to amaze me?

It's a joke. Surely you've seen at least one or two members here say something along the lines of "It's not gay if it's with an Elf".

Fringies like to hook on to anything popular cuz it gets them a minute of fame - those soldier funeral protesters nutballs showed up at my synagogue earlier this year and had taught their grade school kids to sing a song about how great the Holocaust was ... frankly if we are offending these people I rather think it means we are doing something right!

I am Muslim and I think those radicals are imbeciles. It's as if all our problems are solved and a game is the most important thing Muslims should be worried about.

Ah, yes. The "intense occult training of D&D." And here I thought it was just pizza and soda night.
