Isn't it ironic that, given the overwhelming amount of violence that can be found in your average video game, conservative groups get much more upset by the option to see a male on male scene that would be tame enough to show on tv at 5:00. Even if you buy the argument that the moral outlook of mature people can be influenced by the video games they play, which seems like it would be more dangerous to society?

The best part of this is I get to imagine Pat Robertson playing DA:O, because I just KNOW he wouldn't comment on something he's never played.

I can see him having a lot of fun with the game at first; "Whoooaaa"ing the first time he jump-stab-kills an Ogre, or a victory yell after finally beating the Brood Mother after 10+ reloads... Then he's nice to Zevran one too many times and his character is rolling around the camp in his undies with the elf. And now he can never play that character again....

To be fair, this isn't what religous people care about. It's just what the fringe wants them to care about, so they write articles and make TV specials trying to rile people up... but it just doesn't work. Most Muslims and Christians just think "Uh... I signed up for this religion for the 'Do onto others.' and 'Something greater than myself.' aspect... not to monitor pixel-sex."

I find that neither ironic nor strange.  Of course these "conservative groups"  see nothing  wrong at all with graphic violence.  And why should they.  They're the ones who peddle WARS, and martyrdom for God/Allah.  Many of them  instill their OWN KIDS with the value system that dictates that growing up and serving in your country's armed forces in war  is the highest calling in life for a man.

Given that sort of mindset, its not unusual  that they'd  then take offense at  a notion  that happens to represent the complete opposite of their  value system.  (ie. sleeping with your fellow man, instead of  killing him)

In any event, Bioware should be damn proud that their creation is being so awesomely promoted by these groups.  It's actually a selling point.  A game becomes so controversial that  your average joe suddenly wants to see what all the hype is about...    So they buy the game when they otherwise wouldn't have...

They'll never admit it, but I think all they want is power and control over other people. It's absolutely essential that the rest of the world stand united against the types of folks because, if we don't, we'll wind up regretting it — as will our children and grandchildren.

I think the whole thing is stupid, really. If you're offended by certain scenarios, don't put yourself in them. Furthermore, you might not want to buy a game rated M for Sexual themes, parial nudity, and blood and violence. That doesn't sound like a game that would support a few Christian ideals.

Even though I'm not gay myself I was happy to read that same sex relationships are possible in this game. The reason for this is that gay people are completely accepted where I live and can even get married, as it should be imho.

So what are these people to do in a game that allows romances? Romance a character of the opposing sex, that would be exactly the same as forcing a hetero player to romance a same sex character... They have just as many rights as anyone else to have fun and go through the same rollercoaster ride of crazy feelings relationships in this game have to offer!
