So it's unnatural. I think religion will object anything that seems unnatural except supposed miracles that benefit them.

Those wacky christians, one of these days they will wake up and realize it isn't the Dark ages anymore, or at least I hold out hope for that.

This thread is fantastic...

I played DnD, Vampire, Werewolf, all of those, and I never got any mystical powers...

Maybe the books I bought had a few pages missing.

I also LARPd, which surely is far worse, but still no magic powers... Actually on Larp did anyone see a film made in the 70s or 80s that showed some kid getting too much into DnD and then going insane and killing his freinds. Hilariously bad, looked fairly obvious who asked for that to be made.

Clothes are unnatural. Cotton doesn't grow into this shape in the wild, all intertwined and coloured, with a convenient little tag on the back saying what size it is.
We better take 'em off before the fundies find out! :wizard:

See, that's what those people are complaining about! It's not that you can have gay sex, it's that you're still wearing your loincloth when you bump uglies!

Well it also occurs to me that for them to know about that scene, they have to have seen it.

To see it they have to actively pursue that course of action.

Its not like you can get the wrong message, Zevran is about as subtle as lemon wrapped around a gold brick.

Which surely means they had to be secretly enjoying it, otherwise they wouldnt pursue it, doesn't that mean its just their own guilt they are feeling then?

That's incredible, seeing as how my country's reps made a huge fuss over the violence, but the sex was a-okay. Gay marriages (civil unions, not church, though) are a part of our culture, and has been for many years. Our Minister of the Exterior is gay, and brought his life-mate to the election victory party.
/Ohmygosh, gazing at his partner lovingly, on national TV even and everthing. /sarcasm

That said, I think there was an American lawyer who thought that The Sims was sexually deviant. I'm not sure, though, I only heard about it.

Given that and more of it, you can't really blame the northern Europeans for allowing ourselves a bemused smile at the hullaballoo coming from the US about a perfectly natural and human aspect.

That doesn't mean that I think that all Americans are like that. I know plenty, and they are just as tolerant and baffled over the outcies as we are. It appears to me, that those who view sex (in any form or shape) as 'teh horror' are actually in the minority, and think that screaming really, really loud and publicly will automatically make them right.

Radical muslims have joined their voices with crazy christians over Dragon Ages gay sex scences.  Condeming the game Zev and Lelianna deeming them the works of Satan.  Seriously?  I really can't tell the difference between Chrisitans and Muslims.  I'm not gonna give these nutjobs a link but you can google Dragon Age Outrage to see what I'm talking about.

I think my favorite was the quote "Another example of liberals forcing you to become homosexual"

This is nothing new hehehe..didn't you know that back a few years..many years in fact, playing D&D tabletop roleplaying was akin to solicting the presence of the "Devil".  Well at least according to "some" journalists looking for recognition...and some religious groups.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. :)

I don't think anyone is going to declare a jihad ..hehe.

My favourite quotes:

"The video cuts to a scene in which the two men are dirty, naked and kissing. They are depicted in various homosexual sex positions, and the clip concludes with the two nestling together and gazing into one another's eyes."
Various positions? Is this after they kiss and then the screen fades to black?

So yeah, I found "the scene" on YouTube, and how are the characters dirty?

And really? Who does it hurt? It's almost as if the writer quoted the Amazon.com part about the "moral dilemmas", and then decided to completely disregard it and act as if you don't have a choice but to have sex with Zevran and kill little kids.

Gay sex with Zevran. GAY sex. And it's also dirty.

Hmm well maybe when that journalist played the game, he made those two have a mud bath first?   And what was he doing instigating that kind of scenario, if he was so totally offended by gay relations?

Sounds like an utter hypocrite to me.  Besides everyone knows that the "sex" scenes what little is shown...everyone (ingame) does it with granny underwear on, so..whats the problem here?   hehehehe

I do believe this says it all:

Image IPB

Seriously though, do they have nothing better to do with their lives? DA turned me into a baby eating gay who worships satan! Oh wait, no it didn't, because I'm not a religious nutcase and can tell reality apart from a game. It may seem funny and amusing to some people, but you have to stand up for games like DA:O against this persecution. The UK want to set up their own group to defend gamers and their rights against this kind of nonsense.

Good thing there are plenty of decapitations and bloody disembowelments in the game, amirite???

Hopefully kids will see enough of those to make them forget about dirty, wicked sex, amirite???

Umm, there is more gamer outrage at christians in this thread then there is religious outrage about Dragon Age on the entire internet. Your suggested Google search didn't reveal a whole lot of on topic hits.

I'm a Christian and I really don't see a problem with playing the game. As long as you don't play it for that reason its really not a big deal and it will never be an issue. I play RPGs for the leveling and deep gameplay/exploration. Not to watch scenes like that.. I think some people really lose sight of what to really get mad about.. Video games arent on my list there.

Yeah, right.  I bet you only own Dragon Age: Origins because you cast a Geas on someone to buy it for you.

The outrage over Christian outrage is usually more outrageous than the actual outrage. I think people enjoy this kind of stoking. Sad, really.

It's redundant issues like these that make me ponder driving a railroad spike through my left retina out of a lost faith in humanity. Not so much because of the subject matter. It's more of a problem with repetition.

This isn't the Dark Ages. You can't use inbreeding as an excuse for your own stupidity anymore.

Good on them. I like these fundies. They are giving Bioware free advertisement and recognition, which will end up getting more people interested and buying the games. Bioware marketing couldn't ask for better free press than that. No such thing as bad publicity, is there?

Even religous whackjobs are useful. The Maker made them for a reason too!

Now if you'll excuse me, I got to get back to my game so I can learn how to summon demons from dead kids to have freaky sex with them and spread homosexuality for my dark lord, Satan.

Ive never seen the Zevran sex scene with my male PC because I dont see myself doing that but I dont care that it's in there. It's only a representation of what happens in real life and I guarantee that if a gay scene wasnt in there, guess what? The homosexual community would probably be upset about it, too. Cant please everybody so it's no point in even trying.

Well, on the bright side we now know that if you want to do anything religiously questionable, make sure you do whatever you like and then throw in some gay sex to distract them from the rest. lol I'ma make female priests in my game, pagan imagery, murder in surplus, and then crucify a man and then just have someone having gay sex so i can hush all the rest of it up. But why stop there! i will insert subliminal messages to have teens everywhere have unprotected and premarital sex, encourage the selling of souls to satan because frankly, earth is full and then start work on discrediting the theory of evolution in various foreign languages in world chatter, just because once a monkey threw poop on my aunt at a trip to the zoo. But, i will make sure there is a 20 second clip of gay sex to distract everyone, and then, oh yes then, the world will be mine! *muahaha*

*cough* What was this thread about, *really* again?

Fire Dragon076,

In the link you gave:

The writer at the end of the piece equates having sex with an elf to beastility!?
Will writers never cease to amaze me?

That is surprising seeing as there is no such thing as Elves anyway so the entire thing is nothing but a fantasy and a story even if sex is in that story...lol

Actually, I'd be a bit concerned about this - it appears similar pressure caused Bioware to remove gay/lesbian relationships from Mass Effect 2, so there is reason to suspect it could happen in this title as well.

I don't know which is worse, that people will make such a big deal about this sort of thing or that the game company will do an about face and pander to the whining, hateful minority.

I do believe that is supposed to be a joke, considering the place Elves hold in Dragon Age society and the eyes of the human ruling class.
