Again, a typical progressive response. Rather than take on an alternative point of view you claim moral superiority. It doesn't get much more pathetic than that.

"A typical progressive response"

You sound like a broken record. Seriously, what do you hate so much about progressivists? Did your ancestors go bankrupt after slavery was removed? Yes, we claim moral superiority, we're hedging for minority representation, remember? What's your policy? Why do you keep banging on progressives? We aren't arguing about that, we're debating whether or not you should be able to bone a virtual dude in a video game. You might take a little sip of perspective here. This isn't politics, it's videogames.

Erm..no they don't? At least not in the games. Unless you're a woman, but even then, calling an alien romance a lesbian thing, given the nature of the Asari is just stretching it a bit.

Heh.  You fail at empathy.

You're lucky he's being so nice as to empathize with you.

You're a minor minority, representing a tiny portion of the fanbase.

He was expressing the desire to beat me up the other day.  He's backed off on that, but still not overflowing with the milk of human kindness.

You're one to talk, anyway.

I've never claimed to be nice, nor would I.  Too many apologists running around being extra nice everywhere anyway.  The moment someone says something in a non progressive PC way, it's deemed hateful.

I respect the fact that you guys WANT this (to a limited extent), but you guys are totally disrespecting this game.  Which happens to be my favorite game.

I don't respect you at all, and I could give a rats ass if it's your ''favoritest most adored extra speciuls' game. This is MY game too, and I will continue to voice my opinion on features I want implemented.  And you haven't been PC at all anyway. You've just been slinging your hyperbolic assumptions about gay people and calling me a purse carrying queer that isn't really a man. Gee, thanks, but I will still live my life how I want. And to say Shepard can't be a tough, kick-ass hero and get the guy is just completely moronic and tasteless. Guess what, gays exist in mass effect universe. SORRY

Judging by the digital diary on Omega, it seems that at least humans consider it a gay romance if a female partners with the Asari.

If there were no ME games out and this article was pre-ME1 I would agree with you. But this, coupled with 3 years of heckling from the gay community and 2 games without gaymance, it falls on the definitive side of the line for me.

I agree that the odds are small. Considering that they are likely going to incorporate all the romances from the first and second game, as well as probably some new romances, it seems a tall order for a gay romance to make it into the game.

However, on the other hand, they have tried twice to get the content into the series so they may also attempt for the third game.

It's inevtiable that if it was included, Mass Effect being mass appeal and set in a very macho universe, they would be a fair amount of controversy/negative feedback. And if there's one thing EA avoid like the plague, its bad press.

Its not even a full blown romance...and besides, Kelly's just a out and out sex freak. She's all about aliens/men/women whatever.

Red brought up a good point tho, that from an iconic and media point of view, FemShep might as well not exist.

I find it really funny that people have pieced this stuff together tho, it's sad, but funny in a way.

Actually, the only thing I "modded" was a single variable in the save file (gender). Everything is entirely within the limits of the game's code, which is why you only have to download a save to get it to work.

Not romance, but a lesbian flirt.... and cuddling.... with (i guess) implied sex...

Another strong indicator is that implementing it at this late stage would just make no sense at all.

Not really because the romances play no part in how the each game essentially ends. It only effects itself therefore it doesn't matter when it is put in, it would not hurt anything.

I don't think that BioWare is as concerned about this public image as people think they are.

Was Jade Empire not suppose to be a "macho" kung fu movie?

As for the controversy, BioWare takes it in stride. They'll work in some joke about it in a future DLC, but continue doing what they want to do. I think being a Canadian developer helps with not having to worry about the public backlash nearly as much.

Seems more like politics to me the way you guys are slinging around terms like homophobe etc.

The very first thread I started was completely neutral, erring on the side of being confrontational.

First few comments?  Homophobe, close minded, etc.

No argument, no logic.  Just slinging terms.

You guys can't do anything but form a sad little group and ***** on the forums constantly, completely ignoring the fantastic amount of work that went into the story.

You guys have hundreds of pages focusing on ****** romance.

There's something wrong if that's all you care about for ME3.

Dr. Muzyka cleared up the status of your little crusade very politely.

You tools just keep going though

So you basically caused Harkin to say what he was supposed to say to a woman, to a man? Meaning it was never actually made that way? :P

Uh. Actually isn't one of the characters in the book gay. And no one gives a s***? No one cares in the ME universe. The game is just cleansed of all the realistic parts of ME so that the people who get offended can play it. <_<

Me hopes that director cut has realistic strippers too. :pinched:

Also: LOL at how timid Meer sounds in that scene. "Uh...thanks..." The only thing that would have made that funnier was if you had a running away option.

The article does not answer the question. It goes to say Shepard is PREDEFINED and it even mentions the different gender of Shepard. A predefined Shepard would not be able to have the option to romance a woman, being a woman, or a man.

lolwut?

How the hell did you reach this conclusion?  What kind of reasoning was involved?

"A predefined Shepard would not be able to have the option to romance a woman, being a woman, or a man."

Your ignorance could sink an ocean liner.

It is simple you just did not understand my wording. I will spell it out for you:

Female Shepard if predefined, would not have the OPTION to romance a female or a male or both (if you count both games together BOTH can be done for the same Shepard)

Lemme spell it out for you.

Female Shepard might as well not exist.  She's not the face of Commander Shepard.

She can be whatever, she is irrelevant to the game itself.

The iconic Shepard is the one you see on the box, in the commercials, in magazines.

He's the galaxy saving badass, and he's a hetero, like every other galaxy saving badass in any story.

Having him have the option to be a ****** means he's bicurious.

Haha, in other words, not very iconic.

the iconic Shepard may be hetero. One of the game's biggest selling points is the ability to stray from canon. Just like a female shepard isn't canon, but still a possibillity, there's no reason a gay shepard should be ruled out. Just the option doesn't need to touch the canon. by your logic, Shepard should be a hermaphrodite, since he can be either gender. In fact, there are billions of different flavors of Shepard. You're icon is quite the bipolar, I'm afraid.

Yes, Hendel(The rugged ex-marine biotic) from the Ascension book was indeed gay and his sexuality was not some big huge controversy.

Again I say, IGNORE THESE PEOPLE. They've been doing this for days, proven wrong for days, but keep coming back because you all keep responding to them. It's really that simple. (lol at Kelly not being romancable makes her any less of a lesbian scenario btw, that's exactly what I mean)

I was very pleased with EA for integrating same-sex marriage into the Sims 3, considering the debate in the US.
