Bearing in mind that DAO did not have such issues, that's highly unlikely.Groggy Grognard wrote...
Also, another point to consider here is the fact that this game is being issued in various global regions, each with their particular censoring bodies. Perhaps it was decided to program the options in the game, but a survey of censoring bodies said that A, B and C would get the red flag, and as a result, the particular features were held back. Just look at the recent big flap about games and parental ratings in Australia to see what's been a-brewing.

Yeah, but it's not much of a romance if all you get is a hug and him saying he lovED you.Ryuuichi009 wrote...
I am grateful to BioWare however for leaving most of the romance reunion dialogue (if not all of it) genderless. So my Shep can be gay with Kaiden without anyone else being the wiser

It would explain how it is that the audio and video files for the interactions were in the game itself, but weren't actually used in the end. On the other hand, given that a few settings could have modified the actual results, perhaps you can spike BW/EA for coming down with the case of the lazies....
This is actually the only explanation that has made sense in this entire debate. Now, I don't know whether it's true or not (I think most blood has to be edited out for release in Germany, and I know that doesn't stop companies from making bloody games), but it's a reasonable hypothesis.
I still wish there were m/m romance in the game though.

There is a link to a save file which you can use, if you have the PC version.

No thanks, for the past 2 games he has been a straight man for the third all of a sudden he turns homosexual? No thanks. You don't have to do the romances if you don't want to. You can tell all the girls no and pretend your character is gay.

Lol, I played a male!Shep, and was going to romance Ashley but I did something to screw that up and she turned him down. So I let her die instead. (Can't remember if I ended up romancing Liara...)

But my shep has been gay for the past 2 games. Just because yours is straight, you want to deny me a romance? What If I said I didn't want any straight romances in the game?? You are so ignorant

Your Shepard may have been straight, but it doesn't mean everyone else's was. Your Shepard could still be as straight as you want, if there were a potential male/male romance option. To claim that Shepard was suddenly gay because there was an option present is silly. Just like a gay Shepard could turn down any straight romance options if their player so chooses.
How would having a male/male romance option (important word, there - option) impact you whatsoever, if you chose not to pursue it?

Is your Shepard also a woman? You realize that there is a "be a woman" option in this series, yes?klmg8 wrote...

it's not anyone's shepard, it's biowares shepard; they had an image in mind when they created him as a character and they considered the possibility of same sex romances, in the end they decided that wasn't how they were going to portray him (do to various reasons i assume) and it's highly unlikely that there will be an option for it in the third game
and on that note, i doubt there will be any romances in Mass Effect 3, considering how much the devs have stressed the importances of your LI's from ME1 & ME2, i get the feeling that the love interest will have a core part to the story of ME3, which is why i doubt they will have more in it

Why is it that everyone is ignoring that Shep is not CANONICALLY Anything? <_< Lack of an option doesn't mean your character can't be gay. Just means he can't get laid by someone sharing his preferences.
For pete's sake F!Shep exists damnit! She's not bloody nonexistant!

Previous versions of this thread have been closed, not due to the topic, but because people cannot keep their "real world" opinions out of the discussion.
If you support homosexual options for Mass Effect, that is fine. If you support there being no homosexual options in Mass Effect, that is fine too. However name calling, bickering, pointless arguements, flaming, etc are not allowed here. Discussion and polite arguing are fine (there is nothing wrong with trying to convince people your side of a discussion is correct), but if this again degenerates into "gay bashing", bigotry or similar the thread will be closed and the people involved will be banned.
So play nice and respect your fellow posters.

Your creating your own shepard from the confines of the shepard that bioware wants to portray; bioware has stated (and i think i could find the post if needed) that there are things that are not placed in the game because that was not fit with the character; Shepard is supposed to be this amazing military agent, and the military part is what affected things like hairstyles; i'm sure there's someone who wants their shepard to 4ft tall but it can't happen because thoose are outside the parameters that bioware has set for the character.
Now, once again i'm sure they considered it at some point but eventually decided against it for various reasons (though i think it would help if thoose reasons were explained, might calm down some of the people on the boards)
