It's not just youngsters who are homophobic; homosexuality is against many religions/personal beliefs, especially with the older generation. My father is not homophobic (in the sense that he is not bothered how people choose to live their lives/live and let live philosophy) however I know for a fact he would not be happy with my younger brother playing a video game that had homosexual romances available, nor myself when I was 15/16 years old. I think that just because gay rights has told us that it is now acceptable, doesn't mean the majority of people either personally see it as acceptable, or want it to be overtly in their faces.
As for Liara in ME1 - the asari are neither male nor female so her romance was neither straight nor gay.
But he is ok with the profanity, the violence in which you can blow peoples brains out or watch people get harvested in to bloody chunks, or other such things?
Yep; and you don't have to point out the irony, I'm well aware
My only point was that for a lot of people, homosexual references make them uncomfortable, and they don't want to associate with it, however daft that attitude may be. Sadly the more the issue is forced on people who feel that way, the more against the entire thing they become.
.. How does having the option within the game constitute as being forced on any of them?

Having just spent 2 hours watching popular, highly rated, critically adored, gaaaay friendly television... i gotta say all the arguments about how it would cause a controversy or how the majority of people would be upset...
well they just don't hold any merit for me. Sorry. Perhaps I'm naive but I honestly believe the world is getting better.
So... Any more ideas on how we can demonstrate to BioWare that the option would be well received?

I'm not too sure sadly.
Hm...if only there was some way to prove the way homosexual options (especially MM) affected video game sells.

That they didn't have the time to create both sexes of each races, so they made one race all females, so there would be females in the game other then humans. Then they pieced it together from there.
Though in the mass effect universe they do portray them as being the most open with sexuality and same, different sex relationships. Even though they really portrayed and identified with our human standards of female. (Some stereotypes, some not)

odd... must have been before they designed Tali?
Since Tali was just a character, and was the only Quarian in the game, it was a non-issue. It was the same as designing the default shepard or Saren.
But now with the Quarians being shown and females being shown of their race, I am having hopes to eventually see Turian, and Salarian women in the next game.
Though sorry, this looks a bit off topic

If you support homosexual options for Mass Effect, that is fine. If you support there being no homosexual options in Mass Effect, that is fine too. However name calling, bickering, pointless arguements, flaming, etc are not allowed here. Discussion and polite arguing are fine (there is nothing wrong with trying to convince people your side of a discussion is correct), but if this again degenerates into "gay bashing", bigotry or similar the thread will be closed and the people involved will be banned.

You guys ban nothing. My last account got banned and I was never even told why. Maybe you sould just close all threads related to this and avoid the issue al together, like the Armed Forces. Its not like it has any thing at all to do with the game.

I think it has EVERYTHING to do with the game but I'm not opening this can of worms again so I will leave you with your opinion. a gay romance enhances the game for me

Well I think we all know why it wasn't in the game even if BioWare wont admit it. And it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if there was a g@y relationship. I just don't understand why its such a huge issue.

Can you make the MaleShep x Jacob romance happen?La Sangreal wrote...
Just finished a run through with maleshep. The save will be at the very beginning of the game (the earliest you can save). Unfortunately, it's not perfect. Pretty much everyone will refer to you as the wrong gender, not all the dialog is present for the romance, and Shepard occasionally speaks with femshep's voice during cutscenes. On a positive note, the dialog that isn't voiced will show up in subtitles, regardless of your settings. You'll be able to play through the entire game, and will be able to import the character into ME2 to have the relationship continue. In the case of ME2, there are minimal problems. Only a single line of dialog isn't voiced as far as I'm aware, and that's only while speaking with Joker.
Tomorrow I'll test with femshep and Ashley, followed by a youtube vid and a save upload.

So my M!Shep is going to have to deal with everyone calling him a woman?
If I could actually give him long hair and make him a bishounen that might actually not be that bad.
Edit: Does Meer say the "you have alittle black raincloud over your head." when talking to Kaiden about Liara?
And how often is "ocassionally?"

I recall Shepard saying something about a black raincloud, but I don't think I ever talked to him about Liara.
Occassionally is not very often. It would only happen when Shepard says something you don't have control over, and even then it's not every case. The first time you hear it is at the end of Eden Prime when Shepard calls the normandy to pick them up. I can only think of about four cases where it happens in the main game. This is for both femshep and maleshep. Right now I'm testing femshep to see what dialog is missing.
As far as ME2 goes... I suppose I could create saves... but it'd be completely void of dialog. I've mainly been doing this so people get the chance to see (hear) cut content. I'll look into Thane though, considering that youtube vid.

However, given the backlash against Bioware providing as much sexual imagery as it did in ME 1, I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if they touched gay/bi romance with a ten-foot pole.
