It was planned anyway, for Tali. I don't think anybody has gone and datamined Garrus or Thane's dialogue yet to see if they have the same-sex lines.

:bandit: This:  is generally taken as proof of Thane.

Yeah, I'm positive it was at least planned or whatever. (Why I don't know, Thane seems the least likely to swing that way due to his story :P) I'm just curious if it's actually on the disc or not, like the Ashley/Kaidan stuff was. I'd love to listen to what could have been.

So it's not "Lesbian" to for FemShep to Like Liara. Why, you just derailed half this thread :wizard:

Even though Liara is an alien, she has mor efeminine characteristics, so in essence it is a lesbian relationship.
Garrus is more of an exotic type alien, so his masculine features aren't as easily defined.

Both are still aliens, thanks for proving my point. Xenophilia either way

And you're just being willfully obtuse anyway, because Garrus is presented as male and rugged in the game, and Tali is clearly suppose to be female, hence the cleavage on her suit. Liara was also clearly female, with her soft voice and feminine body.

So would I.  :(  La Sangreal said he would work on it after finishing early-game Ash/Kaidan saves, so it may happen.  Not sure when, though.

I would love to listen to the Thane/Shepard Dialogue.I'm using a mod to switch the gender flags to female, so I will upload it with Male Shep/Thane with the dialogue if I get it

The odd thing is that ME 2 is more likely to have gay/bi squadmates than ME 1.

You have Jack, who might even had a relationship with a girl (I'm pretty sure my subtitles said "girlfriend", not "girl friend" - it's not like anyone else than BW can say it for sure, but I guess it was about relationship, not about friendship).

You have Tali and Miranda, both of them have conversations with femShep which wouldn't make it seem awkward if they fell in love with her.

You have Thane, who's dying but still trying to make the best of it. I have no idea how a fictional race like the Drell would deal with something like homosexuality, but I'm sure it is also not a "can't happen!"-thing for him to have a crush on maleshep. And for those who say "But he had a wife!".... one word: Sky.

Garrus and Jacob, on the other hand... I can't imagine them being bisexual.

SPOILERS:

When I was playing my FemShep before I knew anyone's sexuality; I thought Tali was bi due to conversations, as did I think Jack was bi (damn her with her girlfriend talk). I also thought Jacob was gay and my femshep was trying to turn him after his fail with Miranda...but then I was disgusted when my FemShep was all "lemme get some of that raptor teeth lovin'"...but to each their own.

I think someone mentioned some time ago that those "alternate audio files" were just for Meer and Hale to be able to duplicate each other's performances.  I think that's the biggest load of bunk ever for several reasons.

1) It obviously didn't work. :P Those two couldn't give more different performances if they tried.

2) Why would you possibly need to duplicate the inflection of lines that the other wasn't ever going to say?  That makes no sense at all.  If ManShep wasn't ever going to say those lines, what the heck would it matter how FemShep said them?

3) Maybe most significantly, these files weren't found hidden in some acting director's basement.  They were found in the game.  They were obviously meant to be implemented in the game.

4) Ash and Kaidan's lines are all still gender-neutral, even for the specifically romantic scenes. (Heck, I think Kaidan actually says "sir" at one point in the romance) Why write gender-neutral romantic dialogue if the romance wasn't originally intended for both genders?  Answer: It was.

4b) This is also true for many of the ME2 romance scenes.  No gender-specific dialogue at all for the ones I've seen.

tl;dr...gay romance was obviously, originally intended to be in ME1.

I think Arik's point was less about whether or not Garrus would like men and more a question of why Garrus would love a human period.
It's a safe assumption that with Garrus/fem.shep it's more about the bond between them than it is about sex. It's about their experience together and their shared history and all that stuff.

That can be said about any relationship on this game

Exactly.
If it's about the bond between the characters I see no reason sexuality should be the defining factor. Those bonds can only exist between two people of the opposite sex? absurd.

As for the military thing... (sorry to be harping on things said hours ago. Got distracted with my second playthrough)
1: The heads of the US military think DADT is a terrible idea and want it repealed. The soliders themselves think it's a terrible idea and want it repealed. The American public thinks it's a terrible idea and wants it repealed...
2: Several extremely strong foreign militaries allow gays to serve openly. The UK, Israel, Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, Italy.  You know... all those militaries helping the US in Iraq and Afghanistan... Russia has a weird policy that technically allows gays to serve as long as they don't have sexual identity problems.

and back up to speed.

I like how you pointed everything out. I do have a quick question: How could I get a signature like yours? Fight for the love :D

Though, for me the more appropriate would be Fight for Kaiden's Love! mwha

I'm just sick of this whole thing now, knowing that the same thing happened in ME2 as in ME1 (male VA voicing obvious m/m lines).

Come on Bioware, this is pretty pathetic by now.

Ooo make sure you join the group too! It's already up to 218 members and it keeps growing.

Edit:
I'm fairly amused by the provocation thread. Primarily because on this thread most of the first comments were "ew no". that thread so far is made entirely of  "get over it and stop trolling"

Done, and just joined up. I want my Kaiden!!!

They could do a ME1 patch adding him has possible romance for male Shepard as well (considering some of it is already hidden on the PC version i heard. Saw a video and the voice acting was obviously intented for Male Shepard seducing Kaiden. Hell he said "I don't think I had priveledge of you serving under me, Kaiden." It was Shepards voice, figure and all speaking to Kaiden. No mod can do that.

A patch dlc-ish patch could add it in ME1 and allow it to carry to ME2. That would work and I would not mind having to go back to me1 to get that romance on! ha ha

Homosexuality is frowned upon in most military organizations if the majority of their force fits in with which gender you find sexually attractive, so to have a ******-sexual soldier is quite far-fetched in that sense, although if he were to have homosexual relations with someone, I don't see the problem with it, although it would most likely be something he would have had to restrain from in his years in the Alliance, therefore it is more appropriate that he would not follow through on his thoughts, as he would have had years of restraining his sexual urges.

If there was a gay shepard, I wouldn't object as that's some people's life and sexuality choice, although the consensus seems to be against it, so I doubt it will be implemented, or if it is, it will probably be a mono-gendered species that resemble males, like with the Asari and previous LI's. So I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you, although it would be an interesting change, although even then there are two work arounds:

1. Make a very butch female and get some of the male LI's into bed while RPing it's a man.

2. Role Play you are a homosexual, so refrain from hetero' relationships and just get close to the men.

This argument (is it an argument?) makes no sense.  One, "most military organizations frown on homosexuality" is not true; many do not care and that is the trend, if the trend continues this way in the future it will not be an issue.  In the past militaries frowned on the inclusion of women, not a problem in this game.  Then, on top of that you seem to be insisting on stereotypes, also strange.  It's a role playing game; we can play it however we like.  Why would you need to tell us how gays in games should act?

I seriously doubt Bioware will do anything about that for the third and last game of the trilogy, if there was to be same sex romances, they would have done so in the first. Hell otherwise you can continue to be with Ashley in the 3rd but wouldn't be able to be with Kaidan? The first game romance subplot is an important part of the romance subplot in ME3, if there's no gay romance in ME1, I highly doubt there will in ME3.

Why not? Until now there official statement is: "We don`t know what we do in ME3". Of course they do know some things but everything? No. Even if Ashley and Kaiden came back, why shouldn`t BioWare make them now avaible for a same sex romance, only because the didn`t in the first game?

Because some options wouldn't be possible. In ME2, you can decide whether or not to cheat on your ME1 love interest and either way there has to be a history with the character. Even if a femshep could romance Ashley, there would be no "history" available, thus limiting the choices for same sex romances, something that I think would feel wrong in ME3.

The romance from ME1 does not exist for all the players who started ME2 fresh.   For them, Ashley/Kaidan just shakes their hand in the "cannon" story.   Many, perhaps most people, will not go through the romance trilogy anyway.    Moreover, Tali and Garrus showed absolutely no signs of attraction to Shepard in ME1, yet they are LIs in ME2.   Bioware can change existing characters or add new ones.   It's better late than never for same-sex romance options in the ME games.
