Goth Skunk, I did not buy the game on principle. While I am huge sci-fi fan, I don't want to endorse BioWare's latest decision with my money.  I may borrow the game, but i'm not going to buy it.

Many of those your so-called primates have DAO avatars and DAO profiles. I don't see them leaving in droves because there is just an option to have a M/M relationship. If you are not looking for one, it's not going to affect you. I don't see constant threads scomplaining about those options. Where was Faux news when DAO came out?

A game has to be big in name to be a controversial news story, Dragon Age only sold around 3 million copies.

See GTA every time it comes out.

 Wait DA:O sold 3 million copies? Really? That's a nice amount for such a niche game! :wizard:

If anyone has decided not to purchase this video game because of the lack of a gay male romance, they lack the maturity and intelligence to properly weigh in on issues facing the gay community any how.

As a gay guy I am embarrassed and ashamed that I could be linked with such in intolerant and ignorant person.

People treat this video game like it's a Government Run program to which they have a right to influence.

I respect Bioware's creative license 100%. It's their world and no-one has any right to make demands, just as if a Homosexual Only Space Opera RPG (HOSORPG?) were developed and heterosexuals demanded the inclusion of a female love interest.

Can't you see that by strong arming gay romance into something like this we are in fact working against other goals of the homosexual community?

We preach tolerance and acceptance, but fail to do it ourselves. :?

The hypocrisy is suffocating

I think it's something that should be brought ot bioware's attention and the request has been made obviously, after that it's up to them ,I['ll still buy ME3 even there aren't any gay romances, it's a good game without them, for me it'd be a just a tiny bit better with them. Lol, yeah but gay realtionships not being present is no reason to not buy the game, it's just immature and makes you miss out a really fun game.

@Ryuuichi009 I totally agree with you, stronger friendships would better, I hate trying to get close to Tali as friend and then she starts talking about linking up with me -_-

Right now I play DAO and the Sims 3.  While I do not expect every game to include same-sex romance, it is what I expect from an RPG that has romance, especially if it released in 2010.   Obviously I am not expecting gay romance when I play Command & Conquer 3 or the like...

Suckage. I just want to be to give someone of the opposite (or same if BioWare decides to change their minds) a hug and a compliment without automatically hitting on them. >_> I give my friends compliments all the time, doesn't mean I want to hop in the sack with them. (especially when you're trying to COMFORT someone! I mean COME ON BIOWARE! Hug = / = I want sexy time! DX

Plus: Hugs are for close buddies, kisses are for lovers, and handshakes are for associates.

Is it too much just to want a hug without innuendo? :crying:

Oi. I absolutely agree with you Op... but seriously people need to pay attention to the Mods/Devs.

When they tell you ten times to move a topic to the spoiler thread just do as they say.
This will be closed shortly. Your fault.

oh and... putting gay in the thread title is an idiot magnet...

What are you talking about, the last one was shut down because people got caught up insulting each other.

I don't really get how this is a spoiler though >_>

Any title that has anything remotely related to homoseuxality will ALWAYS attract idiots

One simple solution for this having same sex romances or heterosexual romances. Put both options in the game and for those who want the same sex romances, they could get a key from Bioware to unlock it. Simple answer for anyone opposed or not to same sex romance. If you don't have the key to unlock it then you don't have to worry about seeing it. There are ways to make everyone happy. that would be a simple solution.

huh...

See... If someone did make a HOSORPG (i'm so using that forever now) I would be right there alongside the straight players in requesting the hetero romance option.  Exclusion is exclusion to me.

Oh and, no I can't see that.

Yeah that was my mistake. By last one I meant "last one I saw". It was the "Bioware it's 2010.." thread.
Chris shut it down claiming spoilers.

I started to play ME1 because of the f/f romance, without it, I wouldn't have bought the game. I ended up loving the game because of its story and Jennifer Hale's voice. Although there is no f/f romance in ME2, I still bought my copy of ME2 because I want to see the story, but at the same time, I am just extremely disappointed that there is no same sex romance in the game.

I think even if there is no same sex romance in ME3, I will still buy it just because I want to finish the trilogy. However, I am not sure if I will continue buying Bioware's future games knowing that there might not be same sex but only opposite sex romances. It's not like I refuse to buy games without same sex romances, that will leave me very few choices and I also agree that romance is not a must in games anyway. My point is that if I need to romance someone to experience the complete content of a game or if romance is one of the selling points of the game and there is no same sex romance option, I will not play the game because I can't force myself(or my character) into opposite sex romance just to see the complete content. I think this is the same for people who just can't romance same sex characters.

ps. forgive my English because I am not a native speaker.

Based solely on the fact no gay male romance option exists?

While you're entitled to your stance, that is an incredibly weak justification.

hmm that is a pretty good idea. Except I'm not sure how it would work unless they waited until ME3.

Theoretically the same principle could be applied to DLC. Don't like it, don't buy it. The combined coin of the fanboys, fangirls, gaymers, acheivement zombies, and those who just don't care about sexuality, would make it profitable even without the haters.

First of all, complete content of a game doesn't mean it must include same sex romance. As in ME2, the game is as complete as it is.

Second, romance is never the selling point of the game, it's merely part of the game. And yet again, even the romance as selling point could totally mean opposite sex romance and it's up to the developer's will.

Third, you are contradicting yourself by saying "It's not like I refuse to buy games without same sex romances and I also agree that romance is not a must in games anyway" and "I can't force myself(or my character) into opposite sex romance just to
see the complete content".

figure ill chime in on this topic.

if our god awful cultural double standards and hypocrisys are ever to be changed, if homosexual realtionships are ever to be taken seriously by the whole of society, Bioware is the ones to do it.

ME1 has already inspired a realm of tolerance far beyond our own. not only does this group accept homosexuality, but chicken-feet and scaley alien love. as absurd as it sounds now, these forums have become a vehicle for social progress.

people here have found an attraction in women who's face theyve never seen and a man whos entire anatomy may not even be compatible with humans. we are hippies in the 1860s; full of a whole lotta BS some of the time, but decades ahead of our time. we already have relations outside our entire species, what is so shocking about the same sex of the same species with that considered?

Look, to some people, values are more important than video games.  It is so difficult to understand?

Moreover, the point of this type of game is to experience YOUR own adventure.  If I cannot identify with my Shepard, then I cannot fully enjoy the game.

If you treated ME1 in the same manner which you treat ME2, then I will grant you that.

If however you have purchased ME1, but will not purchase ME2 because no gay male romance option exists, then I will stand by my statement; it is a weak justification.

Let's just be clear though: I am disappointed that no such romance option exists. I personally think it's unfair that those wishing to see a gay romance option don't get to see one. But that's where I leave it.

The point of this type of game is to experience your own adventure PRE-DESIGNED by BioWare. If you cannot identify with your Shepard PRE-DESIGNED by BioWare, then you cannot fully enjoy the game.
