Any chance the two unrevealed squadmates could be gay. Bioware I believe in you.
I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler but short answer: No.

I think its a good idea, still prefer just having the same options as others. Wouldn't a side quest cost more then just giving us gay romance options though?
They already plan on putting out DLC and most likely expansions (depending, I suppose, on how well Awakening does...) so the resources are already there and will already be used. It's just a matter how whether or not any new protagonists will be introduced and how their romance options, if any, will be handled.
Although I think my use of the term "side quest" may have been inaccurate to what I was aiming for.
More like the roots of a new series. Instead of just waiting for ME3 to be out and done, start building the new story now alongside ME so that the stories can flow together. Put together an expansion where the story runs simultaneous to the events of ME2, which introduces characters who can then be used in ME3, and then move on to their own series after Shep's story is done.
Theoretically, if Miranda or Jacob were to helm a new spin-off, they would have already done it just not on the main consoles.

Here's some food for thought: should it even be considered gay if it's between two "male" beings of different races? how would you even define which gender was "male" or "female". What if there was a species with THREE genders? What if two genders are biologically different, but both can give birth to children?
Ever read "Lilith's Brood" by Octavia Butler? Male, Female, and Ooloi. Everyone should read that book.
I just can't understand why people are so bothered by options. Don't like an option? Don't use it.
I would also predicate that ruling out too many options is the sure path to a dull life. <3<3<3
not too mention fewer customers
Also, "Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula Leguin. Both genders give birth in that one.

If there were an expansion, spin-off, or add-on with a gay/bi main character and/or romanceable squadmate, I'd buy it. I do have to point out that many of the criticisms against those of us who support same-sex romances for Shepard have fallen back on the argument that "it's a waste of resources just to please a niche market!" Surely, including the script for a character who follows the same script whether they romance a male or female Shepard (like the Kaiden dialogue and voiceover) is a far more efficient use of resources and doesn't have the same issues of marginalization ("You can be gay, just pay extra!").
For folks who are already feeling the defeatist "that ship has sailed and sunk!" sentiment after a vitriolic flurry of forum activity... don't surrender to the feeling. I've been doing social equity advocacy work for years, and often it *takes* years. I believe that BioWare are more likely to be responsive than many I've made pleas to before.
We may yet get our "Hell, Kaiden, you're a sight for sore eyes!" reunion. Or maybe Sven the scruffy yet sensitive space mercenary. He'd be fine, too.
Opening up the xenophilic relationships would be a nice step, although I've already mentioned my thoughts on intergalactic gender variance and the entire idea of "gay/straight" seeming nonsensical where aliens are concerned.
For those who said kind things about my earlier post @p.71, thanks. Yes, I know I'm overly wordy: thank you for reading, and your own reasoned contributions to this discussion. I've appreciated all of your points of view.

I almost wish I never saw those would be videos of MShepard and Kaiden because it just peeves me off more knowing that it was intended and DONE, but thrown away in the end. Its bull.

IGN: Will there be gay relationships for the male Shepard? Here at IGN we've heard a lot of positive feedback from the inclusion of gay relationships in Dragon Age; compare that with the somewhat conspicuous absence of them from the first Mass Effect, especially with the chance for a lesbian relationship.
Ray Muzyka: Here's how the games are different: Dragon Age is a first person narrative, where you're taking on an origin and a role, and you are that character at a fundamental level. It's fundamentally about defining your character, including those kinds of concepts. In Mass Effect it's more a third person narrative, where you have a pre-defined character who is who he is, or she is. But it's not a wide-open choice matrix. It's more choice on a tactical level with a pre-defined character. So they're different types of narratives, and that's intentional
Why can't male shepard be gay? Because he's a pre-defined character...oh ok then let's throw the dialogue trees out the window, the exploration, the ability to choose what girl you want to romance, and what armor Shepard gets to wear because OBVIOUSLY mr Muzyka has made that choice for us. Why doesn't he just come over my house and play the game for me, if he's so adamant about pre-defined choices. In other words, this is the story, and THIS is how you're SUPPOSE to be playing it. Ridiculous
