Shepard being STRAIGHT nor GAY would not change who Shepard the character is. I play the game because it is fun and I like Shepard. My Shepard simply can't romance Kaiden whom he's been trying to since ME1 (because of the obvious tension the developers set up when they speak even). Yet, it is not offered as an option. It was removed in the final product. Its still out there, it would be no effort on Bioware's part to put it back out there through a game update or dlc if people are so "uncomfortable" in their sexuality.

My Shepard is Jack Harkness, and he wants a man :P plain and simple.

Shepard isn't 'solely straight.'  FemShep/Kelly proves this.

I was talking about MaleShep.

Damn right. There is already too much romance in the game, instead of character development.

The romance is a part of the character development.

Putting in a transgender or transsexual option isn't as clearly necessary.  Someone who's playing a transsexual can play as the gender their character identifies with.  Someone playing a transgendered character can play as the sex their character is phenotypically but play as their chosen gender.

That's the same argument people are using against gay Shepard inclusion. You can roleplay him already. Just as you are proposing that transgender characters can roleplay their Shepard as transgender without experiencing actual content about it in the game.

You can only role-play him gay and celibate.  Since sexual orientation is about relationships, Bioware should drop the other shoe and put in a m/m romance.

That's very limited. People can be attracted to dominant lesbian females as men, but not to normal heterosexual females, you can be attracted to transgenders undergoing sexual change, but not to post-op transgender and so on.

Bolded:  sucks to be them.  :P  But these are not sexual orientations, they're preferences within a sexual orientation.  Some men prefer blondes, other have more unusual tastes, I guess.

You base this claim on what, exactly ? Because I don't know about other countries, but being from Poland I can assure you that there is no way anybody would be gay openly in the military and be in the military for long, besides serving in some dusty warehouse nobody looks in, 10 km from the base.

From what I can find, Poland does not disallow gays serving in the military.  They may have some unwritten discriminatory policy, but if so I can't find anything about it on the internet.

Kaidens romance was removed because he's clearly straight...he mentions how Liara looks good, and also talks about a lost love (with a GIRL, that's right) on Jump Zero.

All you gay's trying to make out like Kaiden is a ****** just starting to ****** me off now. That's DEFINITELY not going to happen.

All threads along this Gay/Not Gay line need to just die off...or get locked.

My other thread got locked, and I'm just sick of this debate. EVERYONE (both sides) needs to just STFU and see what happens, in the meantime talking about how to actually improve upon known issues. not just some gay romance fantasy that's being going on for 3 years, get the ****ing hint.

You're talking about preferences ("I like only blondes"), being lesbian is orientation. In fact I know some lesbians, who were in relationship with transmen - until testosterone started affecting their looks.
As said before lesbian doesn't equal gay...
And my vision of Shepards is both confirmed by current game series and Bioware.
So you're talking about double standards, but there was discussion about it.
Serious mature role players will have nothing against a solely straight or gay character.
Not if he's presented as hypocritical as is Shepard.
The fact that lesbian women are seen and treated differently from gay men by our culture has been pointed out numerously in the topics about it. There is no lack of logic there.
He was illogic because he pointed as examples of "free choices" in that matter Baldurs Gate and KOTOR, which was not true. Next time please read twice.

JM123's right though - kaiden was clearly not gay. in fact there are no references to any male homosexual characters in either games (apart from mordin's teasing you), an interpretation of such is at the player's behest, not BWs.

If he was straight then why did they even act out the romance scenes.

Also, so what if he had a heterosexual past? That makes no difference, perhaps they intended for him to be bi with that scene, either way the statement still stands:

Female Shep can have a woman Male Shep can not have a man. That is the issue. If not Kaidan then someone else fitting.

This debate is bull**** man...I'm so sick of seeing it front page everytime I come to the forum. I'd say less than 10%, hell less than 5% of ME players are gay. Theres NO CHANCE anyone is going to implement something for that percentage. Just let it go...

who? because if you say liara, she's an alien, monogendered species (whatever she may physiologically resemble).

Who cares? They weren't in the released game, and that was 3 YEARS ago man...let it go. You've got even less chance with EA at the helm...

What the hell is with the NO BISEXUALS policy that seems to have taken over the forums? O_o

One CAN be attracted to both genders you realize? And I'm pretty sure Shep is so awesome he/she oozes a If its you its okay. Vibe.

Honestly dude make your own thread. You complaining isn't going to make this thread go away its just making you more irritated. Just ignore the thread. You've said your piece several times over.

Edit: The Sims has plenty of gay content as does Dragon Age so that "It's EA!" excuse doesn't hold water. Now its sort of believeable for it to be the devs but given the audio files I'm guessing the devs had a fight about it and they decided as a unit just to leave it out.

Also nice on reaffirming your lack of honor after mocking mine before. Amazing that I actually managed to hold my side of the deal. <_<

Hey I wasn't with ME 3 years ago, didn't get into the game until 6 months or so ago so for me its not be 3 years.

Also, this is all I have to say:

Fitting and romantic. And even without it I still see romance in how they interact in the game, but meh, that could just be me.

Thats not what this is about though. Bioware a company who seemed to have prided themselves on doing what other game developers are scared to do made 7 steps forward at first and then walked 5 back by CREATING the option for a Kaiden/Shepard romance and removing it.

As I said before, i don't care you don't want to see it: as you would not have to unless you choose to.

I want Bioware to answer the damn questions asked of them, not dodge around them. I want them to give their REASONING for removing that Shepard option. And this still goes back to the fact they would not lose any business. Not in the scope that it would effect any of their earnings at least. I still plan to buy ME2 dlc content and ME3 with or without M/M romance for Shepard, but this is me wanting what was offered and taken away with the first ME1. I say give it back, especially if they have no problem with the female Shepard having the lesbian option.

If a gamer is so uncormfortable with the mere THOUGHT of m/m romance in THEIR game, well, they sound more scared that they would be tempted to choose it than disgusted of the thought.

Bioware OWE you nothing. like any minority group, you are given an inch and want to take a mile. the damn game is not a romance simulator - it is one aspect yes, but pandering to minorities is not BW's duty. in fact they don't have to include anything for anyone - it is their game. complaining about it, (with a very telling profile name btw) vociferously for 80+ pages, by the same few people is just annoying for everyone. if you don't like it, don't play it - go back to all those other games that showcase gay romances.... oh yeah, there aren't any.

If it's annoying then don't click on the link and don't read the posts, you very actions are counter-productive.

We're customers, we have the right make requests or complaints about the product we buy. If they don't have to include anything for anyone then why did they make the shooter gameplay more focused and strip rpg elements down, people complained and requested that and thy did it. You just don' like what we're reuqesting.

Because what you're requesting is bull****. For 95% of players it wont make any difference to their game, except to choose one dialogue option saying "No thanks".
BW hopefully will focus on implementing things that aren't tailored for an EXTREMELY small minority group.
As the previous poster said, like all minorites you get given an inch and wanna take a mile.
