Insanity is A LOT harder if you import your character from the end of a previous ME 2 game. If you start a new one on insanity, it's much, MUCH easier.

Interesting. Harder because Shepard is lvl 30, yet none of the gear is totally upgraded yet.  Hence, the enemies are max out, yet Shepard and the squad need to catch up.

Makes sense.  However, being already well on the way into a ME2 2nd play Soldier on Insanity, I don't want to start over.

However, when I do play ME2 for a 3rd time, I'm gonna play CASUAL just to erase the mental damage building up from play this Insanity pass.

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

It's lame because the AI has instant aim+firing. Difference between hard and just plain tedious asswork difficult

Rather annoying when I've cleared an area, brought back my teammates, move into the next hostile area, and get stuck at a -glitch- that won't let me freaking move though. Especially without the chance to save in between and I have to solo all over again. : |

^^ this, without a doubt.  it was annoying as hell for me as well.  especially on hard part.  happened to me horizon when i ran from cover from the praetorian (who was almost dead mind you).  god the nerd rage i had when it happened....

Only glitch I have had so far, was not being able to save in areas I was able to save during my 1st play thru.

Yes, particularly useful when locked in battles with no ammo spawns.  I got killed quite a few times before I gave up on Blackstorm on Insanity.  And pray you have enough charge to fire it.

Recommend slam as a bonus power if it's your second+ playthough and you gained Miranda's loyalty in a game. Worked with my sentinel, especially with the waves of husks.

yeah, I think insanity is there for those OCD 1337 gamers to finish so they can sleep at night knowing they are living in their parent's basement.

When you have to start manipulating the AI and exploiting inbalances in the game, it really pulls you out of the fun and just makes it a project or some personal goal. I'm more interested in immersion so I rarely play above veteran.

I got through with soldier. (you will die alot.. alot..). I had a slight migraine. Use incendiary ammo for vorchas if you have issues with regen. On the last mission, you will have to replay a lot if you don't want to lose people.. I got kelly killed but no way in #@$ that I am going to load an earlier save to save her.  You will be pulling your hair out when you "intelligent" squad mates decide to climb boxes or take cover in front of enemies and get the obvious results..  So people who have short tempers DON'T play it on insane.  (By the way.. I need a new mouse now..#@#$@)

Eh, as someone who suffers from extreme OCD, I resent that comment, since my parents live in my basement, not the other way around.

Insanity Level quickly taught me that I need desperately to learn how to use heavy weapons other than the Collector Beam. One Vorcha Pyro gave me a face full of flamethrower every time I tried to round a corner in the Archangel mission. I finally got past him using a combination of biotic powers (mine and team-mates) and by using my squad members as bait/fire shields, but I realized it was going to be one horrible slog through a whole game without something that:

1. fires around corners, or
2. can bounce off a wall into where you want it, or
3. Has a blast serious enough that all you have to do is get anywhere near your target.

On a side note, I learned that while the LMG may not be all that accurate, it packs punch. Fire it in short burst, starting at your target's hips or lower and let it rise.

Playing on Insanity makes me feel like this game is going to be more of a challenge. Though I do agree the difference between Hardcore & Insanity is pretty large.

Its makes you think, use strategy and not just walk around unloading all shots into the nearest target. You need to create a strategy.

For me Infiltrator works best. MY suggestion, beat the game with an infiltrator, then play with him again on Insanity.

AGREED

Having to baby sit Garrus & Grunt so they don't get themselves wasted sucks. Especially since Med-Gel is the new GOLD in ME2.

Now I just tuck them back in a corner with a baby rattle, and use their powers on enemies.

Then I also find the safe zone, retreat point, like in the tower when recruiting Thane. You got to have a fall back strategy when the next wave comes and can over power you, advancing on your position. I had to fall back to the front door blind (3) times.

If it's like ME1, the harder difficulty levels will be more manageable on subsequent playthroughs with higher level characters.

The hardest difficulty on ME1 on my second and third playthroughs wasn't all that hard. It was just kinda tedious because it took so long to kill everything.

I used the grenade launcher on horizon against those husk.

Garrus was ridiculous, I can't do the missing cargo yet coz those mech's rape face on me and my team. maybe when i get tali i'll have a better shot.

Insanity is intense for shore but not impossible you just need really understand how to cover you and your dumb AI teammates.

Im playing as the Sentinel, after i beat the game i'm gonna lower the difficulty and show the game whose boss on the second play through.

I think Insanity relies more on effective squad members/weapons combination. E.g. I've just done Horizon Courtyard. As you know there are two Scions and Husks. I didn't take my chances or running around - got the nuke (was at 130%), and done, Scions left with 5%. Rest (Collectors and Preatorian) was a joke.

Doing 2nd runthrough on insanity, level 30, no upgrades, not fun.

Altough my main beef is that i just keep running out of ammo for my sniper rifle and other weapons doing little to no damage.

Got past the archangel missions with minimal problems (had actually less trouble with the last door than i had on my first play through on normal, probably because i knew what i was doing.), i also left Jacob to help Garrus (as i had done on my first playthrough), main issue was dealing with the blood pack mercs after the doors were sealed.

Mordin was pretty easy, had to reload a few times due to deaths but no major problems (actually found some stuff i had missed last time).

Now trying to recruit Jack, and can't get past the first room, but i'll keep at it and try to figure out how to get past it.

Wait let me get this straight... You are complaining that the highest difficulty in the game, intended to be the most challenging for the most hardcore players to strain their abilities, is too hard?

Have you listened to yourself?

Infiltrator or Sentinel is the way to go. Vanguard and Adept make it nearly impossible. Engineer seems to be uniformly not all that great, and Soldier has to be out of cover for too long to do effective damage, thus turning him into swiss cheese.

Did it once as an adept (warpspam ftl), working on a second one as a soldier, it really isnt that bad. Compared to the adept run its stupidly easy, especially now that i got the widow rifle. The hp of mobs does not go up at all, only the mitigation... which means if you can stay up to take a couple hits (which soldiers can), things die. :D

I really can't understand how any class can have so many problems with it, do you not use cover? do you take 5 seconds to aim before shooting? Whats the huge issue? :x

Man, i know EXACTLY what youre talking about, that one Vorcha drove me insane (guess thats why its called insanity). I couldnt figure out how to get to that guy without dying (it was just me and Zaeed down there and i was a soldier). I think i finally figured out that Zaeeds concussive shot would put him on his ass.

I wholly disagree with you. You must just be bad at the game or something. Only a few spots on Horizon gave me serious trouble(Taking down The Praetorian / both Scions with the rest of my team dead and no medigel ftw.) I have breezed through parts that gave me severe problems when I played on veteran. Collectors seem to have gotten the biggest buff though. The Widow still one hits drones and a lot of other enemies though :D. Learn to use cover, use your powers in tandem with your teammates, give squad orders, fall back when necessary, and dare to be bold when you need to take down a powerful enemy. Insanity is not that hard.

Its pretty easy if you start off on Insanity as I died a lot but I didn't know how easy it was so now I'm a pro when I play on any difficulty as I know how to go about things and what my plan of attack would be. It is tough but if you stick with it and really think before acting you'll get it.

NG+ Lv 30 Shep Insanity has very hard irrating spots..The whole bouncing up from cover to get stun for 3 secs and killed,Is a little irratating. Some of the cover can be shot through which is a glitch that pisses me off.Although it is beatable i'm on the collector ship right now,the first time you board it.

The first fight when you connect the normandy to the collector ship and they ambush you on the platforms with no cover and numerous collectors And the Reaper keeps showing up walking up in front of you slow as hell eating bullets and biotics while the scion shoots off shockwaves in the background is proving to be a little hard. The crew dies in about 10 secs.with 4 or 5 medi-gels I can't keep them alive...It's just as fun as it is hard.

My only problem was that Garrus got shot again and again in the Archangel mission. The rest went nice as Sentinel. But that mission brought me to the brink of insanity *lol*

^ Yeah, for some reason on that mission he liked to just stand there and receive Incendiary headshots.

I find that the safest way in Insanity is just to hang back. If you're not careful, the last bastard on the map comes from the flank and kills you. Seriously, I was going through the Purgatory, and

Sometimes it's just the party being idiots. In Purgatory, again, my entire party (along with me, because I was busy shooting at somewhere else) was gored to death by one robodog, because they weren't paying attention. **** you, Aibo...
