I have the same video card as you and have to use the green screens becuase I have a single core. The game works until you get on the normandy and then crash when you try to go to a differnt level. If you get passed that point please say so. Mine keeps locking up after you click what level to go.
Thanks.

Don't expect me to spend a single dime on your games in the future. I know I'll play ME 3. Still you can put my expected contribution were the sun don't shine! I'll get it second hand! 'Cause I don't need no Cerberus crap or disrupting gameplay cheat armors I don't even use.
You bloody thieves!
Now I can think about enjoying the game I have bought, Thanks to you, Sargass! You take care, all right? I think we'll need your genius in the future to counter straight-out-the-butt future plans. And I'm not even mentionning DLCs, here!!!
DAMMIT!!!!!!!

It actually ended up being the nondefault ones that were the problem. I put in the default and now I've seen the entire openning for the first time.
What does this mean? Are you saying not to use the directions you gave before, or changing them somehow? If you could repost your solution with the complete and updated steps, it would be appreciated.
EDIT: Er, sorry, I thought you were the poster that suggested which 4 files to place. I really would prefer to only put the files that are necessary there, since a number of these files seem superfluous.

Ok can anyone give me a better link to get this green screen download and where do I put it? The guy I've been messaging is offering minimal help.
Just go to google type in masseffect 2 single core fix and download from a site (REMBER TO SCAN FOR VIRUS'S)
Sorry, I can't rember what site I got mine from. CHECK IF FILES ARE 1K size then you know they are blank files.
What you need to do.
1. make a folder on your desktop and move the .bik files that start with load_f in it to the new folder. FOR BACKUP
(game movie folders should be in your c:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Movies folder)
2. replace the load_f .bik's with blank .bik files.
3. prey it works

You can definately skip the 2 readme files :-) also you can skip vars_pc.cfg (unless u have Radeon X1300-1950 or similar card but i don't think u can run ME2 on that sort of card). So we have 4 files and 2 folders left. Those 2 folders contain slightly different versions of enbseries.ini. Strange thing though is that the files in folders are exactly the same, so we only really have 2 versions of that file (the one in the folders and the one with the rest of the files. They are also only different by 2 lines. I think the one with the rest of the files should work for everyone. Both worked for me, but only the default one worked for Spiro12. So its safer to use the default one.
Hope this helps.

The green loading screens can be found on GameCopyWorld
http://m0001.gamecop..._effect_2.shtml
The file is called NO INTRO FIX & SINGLE CORE FIX.
The only problem is that it contains too many files. You should not replace all loading screens becaouse not all of them are broken. Only replace those listed in this post:

I have the exact same problem, but cpu-z and ME2's config tool are detecting my 2 cores from my E6600 just fine, as does windows. Also, I've tried the greenscreen fix and the -nomovie string in the shortcut, but neither of them helps.
So I'm a tad puzzled, are there any other people that are experiencing the same thing (ie the suggested make-shift fixes don't work) or am I just looking at a completely different problem?

All greetings.
I do not understand English (I'm from Ukraine). But here's the patch, made by a Russian craftsman for solving the problem of single-core processors. This patch was made for Silent Hill, but also works with ME2.
Need to unpack the contents of the archive to a folder Binaries. The green loading screens should be abandoned.
Surprising that workers BioWare has not done what was done by one person.
bioware.ru/forum/index.php
It works, thank you so much.

Ok so if I have this green loading thing an the sargass fix I should be able to avoid the lockup when starting a new game? What r the repercussions?
You will not be abe to enjoy the fancy loading screens ;-)
Is that all? You sure you dont lose any plot related dialogue sequences or cinematics?
If its only some load screens, I'm game, but I'd hate to miss anything relevant.
Can someone please clarify this issue for me before I go & dive in for this fix?

If you are using Windows XP SP3, and you have a multi-core processor, but ME2 isn't working properly, please try this solution to enable more than one core:

If you overwrite ONLY the files listed in this post:
http://social.biowar...72168/47#837079
...then you shouldn't miss anything plot related. If you just take all the files in the megaupload d/l and overwrite every load*.blk file, then you will miss more than you really need to.
Limiting it to those files should prevent headaches at the IFF mission, too.

Yeah, I had to use the green screen too, but I found I still had issues at the IFF. On the up side the standard IFF fix of letting the trailer run before pressing any key works, but with this fix there is no lag. It locked up anyway afterwards, though, and I don't know why. But it's ok because I just did it back to the greens and now I've seen the entire ending as well as the beginning without lag. It was awesome.Asended wrote...

Thanks, I think i got rid of all my problems thou I havent had a problem after I redid the green screen fix and I put load_f80_INT.bik and load_f80_ESN.bik files back to orginals. One of them is the team select screen so crashs when you try to go some where you need your team.

Sargassss, you & you Russian 'friend' rock! Thanks a ton! And thanks Quinn for the advice & everyone else who's contributed with constructive posts in this thread! I'm sooooo chuffed!
I've just started the game & so far so good...
The only thing that appears out of sink so far is the dialogue, but that's survivable I guess.
Bioware: You guys really aught to delve into this fix Sargassss provided, might save you guys the time and effort of fixing the single core issue from scratch, while you guys can work on streamlining it further for ME2.
Either way, I'm still looking forward to that official patch from you guys.

Do you mean the part where you activate the IFF? Had that too. But that's the only part now that gives problems. Everything else works fine. The Sargass Fix is just plain awesome. The only way Bioware could top that when they even fix the IFF problem.Spiro12 wrote...

I agree about the fix, goes nicely, can play normally after movies, but the only problem is the sound. Stutters, skips, lags, tried to set from full to none, no help there. Fix one thing, issues with other
In the readme for the fix it says, that if you are having sound problems you can try adjusting DelayTime in enbseries.ini . Did you try this ? I understand u tried adjusting sound acceleration in dxdiag.exe.

Perhaps it is worth putting this decision in the first message threads, so that many more people could use it. At least it is important to release an official patch.
It would also be interesting to hear comments from developers about this patch. Since I am not a developer - I am very interested to see how it works.
PS Sorry for my English - I translate with Google.
