Im on 12% downloading off steam.. So i've been reading through the comments and god bioware did not really think this through, Im new to PC Gaming i played the first mass effect on xbox but you thought bioware would actually not attempt to load the cinematics during loading objects, that'd mean more longer loading periods but still least i can play a descent smooth running game and also can someone tell me where and what files need to be placed into my mass effect 2 folders for the sargerass patch

Just read the last couple of pages, everything is explained there.

The Sargassss fix is actually ENB series mod (enbdev.com)
and the patch is actually for Patch v11 for Silent Hill Homecoming :D
http://enbdev.com/si...ill5patch11.zip

BUT this works on other Unreal Engine games too !!

The most curious thing is that it fixes this BINK freeze and stuttering.
Come to think of it... the newer UT engine games have this PROBLEM. Another FPS shooter released a couple of days ago by another company ALSO have this BINK problem..

and GUESS what :D "Patch v11 for Silent Hill Homecoming" fix it .. lol :)

So credit goes to Sargassss pointing out that this MOD is fixing those issues ;)

You're talking about BioShock 2, aren't you? Could you please explain me, on a private message if u like, how did you manage to fix BioShock 2 bink problem with this fix ? I had the same idea and tried it, but couldn't do it unfortunately.

Hi guys I think I might have a new problem... Ok so I've done the no movie replacement of the bink movies, replaced the blk movie loading screens leaving the cinematic and every thing seems to have been working fine UNTIL I get the Normandy. I watch the video of the SR2 leaving dock for the first time and then I get the black screen of death. No sounds or anything. Then I have to do a hard reboot of the computer. Any suggestions? Would the IFF fix work?

Don't worry, it's only the counter resetting, not the download. Happens all the time when a download stream gets interrupted for a moment. Just look in \\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Mass Effect2\\ to see your data. You didn't lose anything.

I've now finished the game with the Sargass fix and the green screen load (only the necessary ones). Im running it on a amd64 singlecore 3gig ram and geforce6800, occasional stutter at ingame movies but no sound lag what so ever. Im amazed how well optimized the engine is as my computer is outdated, shame there hade to be unofficial workarounds to make it all work.

Good game, first was better, looking forward to the third =]

I have a question about the iff mission problem. well the prob I have is when sheperd says "I'll meet you on the shuttle". My screen goes black and there is the space craft sound playing, but nothing happens after that so I had to close it. thats the problem everyone is having right? Is there a fix for that? I have the simple load screen and the Sargass fix. everything was goin good up to that point.

forgot to say

I did wait for the intro movie and that didn't work either for the IFF mission.

I have similar problem in IFF mission. I tried "nomoviestartup", sargass fix, green loading screens and few combinations of these and it didn't work. I even tried without any modifications but it freeze at loading screen (just like when I start new game without fixes). Any help? I am so close to the end and I stuck... :crying:

im having the same issues here... the only thing i can think of is that im missing a file but i dont know which one... can anyone advise?

Battx -> yeah, I've just finished game because I found solution few minutes ago.

Before loading save just before IFF mission, I restored all original movie files except:
load_f01
load_f80_ESN
load_f80_INT

So, these 3 files + sargass fix (without nomovie command!) works for me for the rest of the game. Good luck :)

Although, with sargass fix game performance is slighty worse than normal (I played almost whole game withaut this fix, only with nomovie command).

no go... if i get rid of
load_f01 i cant start the game past the main menu
and if i leave it in but get rid of the others i still get the black screen at the beginning of the mission
thanks though

Tried every method listed in this thread of getting the IFF mission to run. Managed to get the video of the elevator going down and then black screen again.

This is crap. Minimum specs for this game listed a 2.4 Ghz single core processor and IT DOES NOT RUN ON A SINGLE CORE!

Bioware should either fix this very quickly or offer a full refund to those who have bought the game due to false advertising. Misinformation like that is tantamount to fraud.

I exported it all to my binaries, loaded the game it said your game is unsuported and may reduce gameplay (Well thats what they think) I didnt have green screen on loading and when i started a new game it crashed on me

specs:
Processor:Intel® Celeron® D CPU 3.20GHzMemory:2046MB RAMHard Drive:159 GB TotalVideo Card:ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)

Emm ignore the top bits, I want to somewhat shake sargerasss's hand, my game runs smooth i can watch cinematics without lag, restarted the game so i could play it from the beginning :)

Scan through these thread pages and look for someone mentioning the loading pages, you can download a file which nulls the loading screens making it possible to play without Crashing (Thats what i did im a single core processor user)

Also, in addition to the above posters comment, add -nomoviestartup to your shortcut. Create two shortcuts, one with and one without this addition, you'll need them both for Citadel.

Docking in Citadel.
Before you hit dock, save the game. Quit the game and load it without the -nomoviestartup. Load the savegame, hit dock and wait for the cutscene to finish and you are in citadel. Save again at this point, quit and go back tothe -nomoviestartup launch, load the savegame again. You'll need to do the same again when you leave Citadel to get past the undocking sequence if you don't get sent straight back to the ship from the mission.

Be prepared to come back again after the IFF mission where almost everyone playing with a single core processor is totally stuck.

Don't spread false information !

You don't need -nomoviestartup when you have Sargass fix. Just the fix + the green loading screens.

Just don't push the button in main manu (when ask you for pushing it), wait, see intro movie once, game returns to main manu - then push the button.-> and loading won't be stuck. You could play IFF mission now and with Sargaross fix without  freezing. Other loadins will be working too.

@WrexInsane   (post below)
Loading screens should work if you do what I said. Try.

@Michael Gamble [or any others that know a solution]

There is also a fairly major problem for some random people (lots of single cores, some dual, quite a few quads), where ME2 either freezes indefinitely on the loading movie or crashes to desktop ("MassEffect2.exe has stopped working"). This occurs when either importing or creating a new character on the load screen before the opening cinematics.

Is this problem on the list to be looked into?

Cheers

Sorry for may bad english...

I can play ME2 with poor pc very well... in 1024x860, FPS 30-33. I'm using the green loading and Sargass Fix, and watching inicial movie + original loading for the IFF mission.

I wanna know: the Sargass Fix works for ME1?
My problems in ME1 was Black screen + reboot after 30/40 minutes(high resolution) or 1h and 40m (low resolution) of game or after popup message, both with sound crashing.

PC:
AMD Athlon 3000 2.0Ghz
1 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

ME2 works better then ME1 in this computer

OMG!!!  You are right!  We may have a legal case against Bioware!  I'm going to sue Casey Hudson for 1 million dollars, and then use the money to buy a dual core processor to play Mass Effect 2 anyways!  Haha!  In your face Bioware!

By the way, the 3rd post in this thread tells you exactly how to get through the IFF mission on a single core processor.  Give it a try, it worked for me.

Where did you read that? The game DOES require a dual core CPU. This is the minimum sys req:

CPU: 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU

Tried it along with about 5 other proposed methods of getting past it. The most I managed to get is a short view of the elevator going down then a black screen again when it got to the bottom. Since then, I have tried various methods and have not even been able to get that much, just a black screen as soon as he tells Joker the ship is his.

The only way I can get this game running at all is using the -nomoviestartup. No amount of "hacks" will allow me to make it run without it. I can run it temporarily like with hte Citadel docking but have to switch back again because any cutscene after that will just result in a black screen.

Sorry JanKowalczyk  but my box clearly states 2.4ghz single core.

AMD Athlon64 3800+ Socket 939 Single core 2.4ghz
Geforce 9800GT
4gb Ram
Win XP SP3 - (Tried Vista and it's bugged to hell and back so I went back to XP)

Since my processor meets the minimum requirements stated on my box, I'd expect it to work.

Very strange. What version do you have ? In polish version (MULTI3) it says

1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU

Wikipedia (english) says the same, so i think it's the same in Western Europe version (MULTI5).

Are you sure you are not talking about Mass Effect 1 ?Because ME1 had this requirement.
