Sorry JanKowalczyk  but my box clearly states 2.4ghz single core.

AMD Athlon64 3800+ Socket 939 Single core 2.4ghz
Geforce 9800GT
4gb Ram
Win XP SP3 - (Tried Vista and it's bugged to hell and back so I went back to XP)

Since my processor meets the minimum requirements stated on my box, I'd expect it to work.

Very strange. What version do you have ? In polish version (MULTI3) it says

1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU

Wikipedia (english) says the same, so i think it's the same in Western Europe version (MULTI5).

Are you sure you are not talking about Mass Effect 1 ? Because ME1 had 2,4 Ghz CPU requirement.

PS. Just curious. What are the other requirements on your box ? RAM, Graphics card, etc.

Would someone be kind enough to explain where about in the game this 'IFF' part takes place and if possible without spoiling any of the plot for me? And is it a good idea not to go to the Citadel before this part to avoid some sort of crash? This is my first time through. Many thanks for any help.

When Kelly says that the Illusive Man wants to talk to you in the Debriefing Room, don't do it unless you want to do the IFF mission.

Also, with the Sargass fix there are no problems with the Citadel. You can visit it without getting lag or the game hanging.

No. When she says that, you will go to the Collector Ship, not the IFF mission. IFF mission appears on the galaxy map after Collector Ship mission and you don't have to do it until you want to.

FOUND A WORKAROUND
FOUND A WORKAROUND
FOUND A WORKAROUND

i just played again ME2 and it's stuttering 4 sec and then it goes around very well. i just opend and run my task manager behind and it were 100% CPU usage!!! for both cores. I meet the minimum of specs. I have:

3.0 Ghz C2D E6850, ATI HD 5750, 2Gig RAM, 500GB well formated disc space
min spec is behalf my retailer: 1.8 Ghz C2D!!!

It's time that bioware makes an announcement or i give the game back and play with my installed one till the end. That's not the way a customer should be treaten after the decision to buy a game!

€ FOUND A WORKAROUND FOR DUALCORE - PLEASE CONFIRM

I shut down my router, my antivirus (local and online viruscheck, but still working as a process - bitdefender 2009)

plus shut down some processes like these:

AiNap.exe
COCIManager.exe
Communications_Helper.exe
PnkBstrA.exe
PnkBstrB.exe
MOM.exe
Quickcam.exe

--> these dlls or processes are a part of my devices, so nothing should be malicious software or undefined processes

now it works smoothly no stuttering and played two hour of full pleasure.:P
(but still waiting the patch!!!)

Tried every method listed in this thread of getting the IFF mission to run. Managed to get the video of the elevator going down and then black screen again.

This is crap. Minimum specs for this game listed a 2.4 Ghz single core processor and IT DOES NOT RUN ON A SINGLE CORE!

Bioware should either fix this very quickly or offer a full refund to those who have bought the game due to false advertising. Misinformation like that is tantamount to fraud.

Looking at the ME1 box dude. ME2 box says dual core and so does the website. Back it up with pic or i call shanagins

Basically, if you cant afford to buy both a dual core supporting mobo and dual core processor, single core users are SOL. F'n great! Get to the IFF install, and cant finish the game!

You CAN finish the IFF mission on single core, just read this thred and you will know how. And are you sure your mobo doesn't support dual core ? If you have Athlon 64 s939 it WILL support Athlon 64 X2, you can buy it very cheap.

@down

Yes, I had sth like ebay in mind.

Well the only problem is socket 939 was phased out quite a long time ago, so finding anything now a days is pretty hard, unless you look on craigslist / ebay.

Huge disappointment. I've read all 13 pages of this thread and don't have a clue how to play this game without locking up. run this file, run these green movies, what the hey. this is not how I want to have to run a game (if I could figure out what to do).
Yes I have a single processor and no, I can't upgrade it because it's a laptop. I pre-ordered the special edition, couldn't wait to get it and now I just want to run over it with an M-RAP or better yet, put it on top of the next IED we find and let them blow it up. That's about as much entertainment value as I'll get out of this P.O.S.Image IPB

Yeah I am disappointed with Bioware on this one- first time ever probably though.

My game is lagging and stuttering all over the place and to be honest, with a game of this magnitude, this thread should not even have to exist!

Ive only read a few reviews of this game (PC Gamer subscriber here) but I dont recall any mention of technical glitches that should have been mentioned- but obviously the reviewrs are playing different installs Bioware hand picked for them.

Hopefully Bioware fixes this game soon.

My comp specs:

Intel dual core e6600 2.4 ghz
nividia geforce  8800 GTS
2 gbs ram
Vista

Thank you all for your appreciation. I am very pleased to realize that I was able to help his message many people enjoy your game.

Perhaps it is worth putting this decision in the first message threads, so that many more people could use it. At least it is important to release an official patch.

It would also be interesting to hear comments from developers about this patch. Since I am not a developer - I am very interested to see how it works. ;)

PS Sorry for my English - I translate with Google.

Thanks for the fix, I updated my first post, third in the thread to include it, so it should be fixed right up front.

Thank you.  I found it. So I Installed the patch, now what?  I still lock up as soon as I get the mass effect picture and it says loading.

Isn't this what the patch is supposed to fix?

No, it only fixes stuttering AFTER movies. If your game freezes at loading screens, you have to replace the files
listed in this post

http://social.biowar...72168/47#837079

with the green ones.

Sargass fix came from Bioware.ru forums. I'm checking those frequently. As for now there is nothing

new than old fix. Waiting for official patch...

forget those processes behind. in my case the bit defender interferred with the game. i turned it off (of course no inet connection) and voila... works perfectly.

I'm using Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 and have no problems with ME2. Maybe you should upgrade. 2010 is a lot better than 2009.

In the readme for the fix it says, that if you are having sound problems you can try adjusting DelayTime in enbseries.ini . Did you try this ? I understand u tried adjusting sound acceleration in dxdiag.exe.

Yes i tried the dxdiag sound acc settings, no help. And about DelayTime, its currently 0, i have no idea what seting to try and how much. My readme.txt says nothing about it :(

I was talking about the readme for the Sargassss fix, it says you should try values between 0 and 100 for DelayTime.

JanKowalczyk: Where can I find this Delaytime so that I can play with different adjustments?
