just wanna say thank you to the bioware ME2 team for making this patch for the single core users! Although I've finished the game on my brother's duel core last week but Im going through the game again playing as renagade on my single core desktop. Great game and please keep the DLC coming! XD

FYI, my system spec is P4 2.8GHz, 3GB Ram, Geforce 9500GT running on WinXP SP3. I turn every graphic option on max expect dynamic shadow off since it'll lag the game. Other than that, the game is running smooth actually 2X faster than ME1 so I think ME2 team is doing a great job on optimizing the game and they should revise the min req on this game and expect to sell more unit! Image IPB

just curious what the spec on you guys's computer since 95% of people posting here are running this on the single core.Image IPB

Athlon 64 3000+ (2GHz), 2GB RAM, Radeon HD 3850 512MB AGP as well. It is so nice to be able to play without all the workarounds.

Amd Athlon Xp (Barton) 2500@3200, 2gb ram, x1950pro, playing pass 5..or was it 6, dont remember, doesn't matter. Finally without the no movies flags, no green loading screens and SH5 fix.

Way to go BioWare.

Respect :)

So far the game runs like a beaut with the patch.

Thanks Bioware!!!! You guys really came through for us, the game is awesome & u guys rock!

To the rest of our single core club: thanks for all the useful tips, advice & technical - as well as psychological :P - support throughout these past few miserable sodding weeks we've endured.

Hopefully we wont have to meet up again anytime soon with gaming woes

*waves a final time before she disappears into ME2 bliss*

Damn, i am gonna miss our teamwork in trial & error game of what loading movies to remove so we can play at all. And 90% of us didn't wait for the patch, but we played it with all the problems :)

Yeah, I have to admit that despite all the hair pulling, bashing brain into desk, anger and frustrations, some aspects of it have lent themselves to this being a fun & enlightening ride ;)

Gawd... never thought I'd ever say that, but there you go, heh (probably still giddy with ME2 finally running like a charm - heck I still squee in delight every time I see a fancy loading scene, hehe ;p )

so... what did you guys do that worked? i have a core2duo @ 3.0ghz, nvidia 8800gt and 3.5gb ram (because of winV-32) but it won't work! i have updated drivers (obviously) and tried the no intro fix... still won't work with or w/o patch.

We are single core (L)users that had the game working before, but with some stuttering issues and endless loading screens. We got by with workarounds and stuff, but we could play from the day 1.

What is your problem? Game doesn't start at all, crashes, loading problems?

Patch works great-movies no longer have lags but games on my spec loss so many FPS now no matter what resolution is and what effects working.

I know my computer is out of date(Athlon 64 3000+/2GB/GF7900GTO) but without patch it runs smooth (even better than ME1).

Anyway thanks for support BioWare looks like almost everyone are happy now :)

I just need to step back and play without patch.

No technical problems with the game since the patch.

So... all signs indicate that ME 3 will still be developed for current generation of Xbox. If a PC version will be made (and I hope so!), may I kindly suggest that the fixes from this patch are included from the start next time? As long as the current console generation sets the maximum for hardware demands, a good single core CPU should always be able to run the games. You also could put single core CPUs on the list of supported hardware again for the next game. This would benefit BioWare/EA too, as potential buyers won't be discouraged by hardware requirements.

Wish I could say the patch worked for me. I suppose if your one of those people that only play and hour to 2 hours a day you'd never notice. But, usually beyond that my PC still crashes to black screen with garrbled sound -- then resets. This can't be good for me comp (same thing happens in ME1 for the past 2 years too ever since I upgraded from a 7800GT to GT220).

It's not overheat -- I have everything on low just to be sure (though my card can easily handel this game on max theoretically), and the vents are cool -- fans are running fine.

My specs are:

CARD: nVidia BFG GT 220 1GB DDR2 (processor cores 48), Driver: (all of them tested -- lowest 220 can go is 186.34, highest is 196.34 Beta) Curretly 186.34 as it seems to last the longest (set to allow application to control). PhysX Driver (set on Disabled) 09.09.1112 (came with game and it won't play without this driver installed).

Sound Card: RealTek ALC880 Codec, Driver: 5.10.0.5034

Comp: Gateway 838GM Win XP Pro SP3 (also seems to have Win XP Media Center Edition 2005)

Pentium 4 CPU (2 Processors, not Duel Core) 3.0 GHz

800 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache

RAM 2.7

Power Supply: 600 Watts

>>Cmdr. A. J. Shepard: it's likely your cpu. i don't think the game recognizes dual processors so it is tasking only to one core. also, i haven't heard much about how the game runs on XP but i was NOT able to start it on Vista 32 at ALL. i upgraded to win7 x64 and now the game runs beautifully.

That's a good place to start actually -- tried everything else. It's weird how ME1 use to work with my set-up though. My brain's as fried as my PC is, trying to think of reasons why, anymore =P Maybe I'll see if I can't afford a duel core processor. Or I should say -- I can't -- but, I'll see if I can't jedi mind f*** my way to one =D

I recall someone saying there was a way to get ME2 to recognize the 2nd CPU -- had to do with something at start-up -- hell if I know. But, the config launcher does say it is only recognizing 1 of my CPUs while the process affinity is saying both are recognized.

And, yeah -- I was think'n about that OS, heard good things about 7's compatablity with newer games -- but they're more expensive then a processor (d*** highway robery)

Anyway, thanks for the idea.

Finished the game fine on my dated single core pc, thanks to the latest patch. Though i did encounter some stuttering at a few ingame-scene's like the intro.

I didn't really mind the 2 seconds of stutering, however it also caused the sound to become out of sync. Which is very annoying, but thankfully that didn't occure that often. Still i would appreciate it if bw fixes this in the second patch...

The problems I had running ME2 prompted me to upgrade my system. I was thinking of just a new multi-core cpu, but ended up with a new mobo, new cpu, more RAM, and Windows 7! I just got my PC back, and it looks like Bioware has patched the game so single core now works, which is great. It sure runs well on my upgraded system! I am sure more and more games will take advantage of dual core processors, so I am happy with my upgrade, but hats off to Bioware for outstanding customer support!

Is the DAO x-pac out yet? (smile)
