Awesome because i want to download the nomovie fix, but i dont know where it is can someone post the link, on the thread. I know that there was a link on our old thread but i cant seem to find it?
You don't download it, you create it yourself. Go to the ME2 folder and locate the ME2 .exe that launches the game. Right click on it and select "create shortcut". Right click on the shortcut you just made and add " -nomoviestartup" to the end of the Target line. No quotes and put a space before the dash--drag the shortcut you just made to your desktop and you are in business. Hope this helps.....

80% of the time it plays extremely smooth!
But the 20% of the time when the problems occur, it's EXTREMELY annoying!

Hey mister bill i was just wondering, is the intro scene with the illusive man and the Normandy blowing up supposed to play with the nomovie fix because it is still playing on my game. I am guessing i did something wrong while applying the nomovie fix, but if i am supposed to watch the intro scene i will suffer through it. I was just making sure if i am supposed to watch the scene, pleease reply!
As I recall, you do get the initial Normandy crash scene with -nomovies. I think that is done with the game engine and not a movie file. Sounds like it is working for you--have fun!
When you want to go to the Citadel, take the mass relay to the Citadel system and save the game. Then start it normally with the launcher and load that save--it will stutter a bit on the Galaxy Map, but you can land and then get around just fine on the Citadel. After you are back on the ship, save again and go back to the -nomovies shortcut.....The -nomovies fix just gives you a black screen on the Citadel.

Did you try the no movie fix like this in the shortcut properties: "C:\\Games\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries\\MassEffect2.exe" -nomoviesPikie 1 dog wrote...
OK, so i tried the no movie startup fix. No dice I tried three times, but every time it froze right after you create your character. I may of done something wrong while i was making the no movie fix, but when i tried to just make a new character it froze on the first loading screen, so i tried the watching the intro fix and i got past the first loading screen. Then my game froze on the second loading screen with the no movie startup fix. Nothing is working!!!!

Edit: Works beautifully. Getting Windows to recognize the second core fixed all my problems and makes the game load like 3x faster.
Just a warning though: getting that second core working may be more work than it's worth for some people out there. Doing it the "recommended" way requires a Windows repair from the CD, which ended up hosing the OS, requiring a fresh install. There's a quick hack fix that requires manually replacing some dll's, but I imagine that could easily end with the same result. Of course, for me, getting the most out of my PC was worth the pain. I would've done it even if Mass Effect 2 didn't require it just to work.
Here's a page explaining the .dll hack to enable multiprocessor support in Windows XP when it's not already enabled, use at your own risk: http://www.handaware...ocessor_XP.html
Note that "replace" means renaming the new .dll's to the names of the .dll's you're replacing. Failure to do so will prevent Windows from loading, with an error message saying it can't locate the specified .dll's.

Oh so are u only supposed to put 'nomovies' or are you supposed to put 'nomoviestartup' on the target line (without the quotes of course) because i did everything you put down mcneil_1 except i put nomoviestartup on the target line instead of nomovies. I will try putting down 'nomovies' on the target line this time and see if that works. Thanks for all the help Misterbill and mcneil_1!!
It has been working for me using "-nomoviestartup", but maybe it just reads "-nomovies" and the rest has no effect. I did it that way because that was what was posted a day or two after the game came out in the original thread (which grew to 60-something pages before they closed it and replaced it with this one). Dont forget a space and the dash....

You have onboard graphics card. I'm not 100 % sure, but it might be to weak to run this game.

Not external, but you might be able to replace the graphics chip with a more powerful one.
