Ok so question, this patch Sargass gave us, will it overide the problem of the freeze on the first loading screen after someone clicks create new character/import new character? If so I'm getting it immediately.
For me it only solves the stuttering after movies problem. I still have to use the green loading screens to avoid complete freeze when starting a new game or loading a save.

"vars_pc.cfg" goes to engine folder, but in Engine folder are 2 more folders (Localization and Shaders)
Does this file go in any of those 2 folders on only in Engine folder root?
"D3D9.dll" and "enbseries.ini" go into the Binaries folder i guess, than what about the ATI & NVIDIA folders? Going also in Binaries folder?
Tnx ppl

I wanna try this Sargasss fix. But excuse my stupidity in getting it to work.

As far as i know everything from the zip file goes to the Binaries folder. That how it worked for me. You don't have to backup any files because no existing files are replaced.

edit:
Acquiring was without problems. Using it, was not without problems. I had to start the game normally with the original movies (no green loading screens) and wait for the idle trailer on "Press any key to continue" screen, then load the game. I was able to activate the IFF and see what happens. Otherwise i would just get a black screen and a ME2 Exe idling.

It works .... nearly - on the loading screen after i set my Shephard face, my ME2 crashes again ;-(
You also need to install the green loading screens, the fix only adresses the stuttering after playing bik* movies.

Someway it seems to start working, but something weird noticed. Some sounds sound crappy sometimes( are screeching) and animation talk on movies isn't synchronized to sounds. What's the matter?
A guy above said u have to have to the green screen thing to work (although Sargass said you didn't).
HOWEVER.
I do have to ask once you get to download the green screen thing do you save it to the binaries folder or just the mass effect 2 program files folder. or do you open it (cuz I tried that and it said error). what do I do?

The game works without those files in place... which binaries folder should it be in?

Yeah, it crashes on me right off the bat, says my graphics are not compatible... I have an NVidea 8600 GTS that's definately 6100 or higher. I deleted the ATI folder and it stops saying it's incompatible and just crashes before ever openning the game.
Try this: put only those 4 files in Binaries folder:
- d3d9.dll
- enbseries.ini (but not the default one, put the one form the nvidia subfolder instead)
- enbfixshader.txt
- enbfixshadervs.txt
Everything else is irrelevant i think. Tthat's how it works for me at least and i have Geforce 9600GT. It also says for me that my graphics are not compatible but i click OK and it runs with no problems.
PS. The Binaries folder is the one that Mass Effect.exe is in, not to be mistaken with MassEffectLauncher.exe

I managed to get it to work, i was right about the file placament, but now i have sound issues, like double talking, stuttering and such, funny how i completed the game 3 times wihout this fix and i didnt have those problems before.

I am running Windows XP with an AMD 2.3 Ghz SINGLE CORE
I feel sorry for Bioware, as they just got pwnd by a single programmer in an economically challenged country.
For goodness sakes Bioware, find out who he is and hire this guy! He just made your fix for you! And look, you didn't have to print "dual processors or equivalent" on your packaging! With this fix, it runs on my 7 year old dinosaur machine. I'm starting the game over from the beginning to see wheat I've missed so far!
Also I did a full scan of the zip file and the unzipped files. I also am in agreement that I was not able to find any virus or trojans in this zip file.

All greetings.
I do not understand English (I'm from Ukraine). But here's the patch, made by a Russian craftsman for solving the problem of single-core processors. This patch was made for Silent Hill, but also works with ME2.
Need to unpack the contents of the archive to a folder Binaries. The green loading screens should be abandoned.
Surprising that workers BioWare has not done what was done by one person.

It actually ended up being the nondefault ones that were the problem. I put in the default and now I've seen the entire openning for the first time. Very cool. I'm going to try it without the green screens, though I suspect that will be a no go. Still, worth a try.JanKowalczyk wrote...

-edit- Nope, I have to continue to use green screens, but other then that the game finally works, so badass.
