Alistair really drove home how poor a romance Kaidan was to me. He broke my heart as a straight man.

Everybody keeps calling Kaidan dull but I find Jacob utterly boring. I decided to be friends with him because he's just such a turn-off for me. Such a poor replacement for Kaidan!
Kaidan is hot, Jacob isn't, not one bit. I really dig Kaidan's personality. He does have one! Just because he's shy and quiet doesn't make him boring. I like nice guys. And I like people who stick to their principles. The scene on Horizon made me like him even more. He hates Cerberus and isn't willing to join, not even for Shepard. And right you are, Kaidan. I hate Cerberus myself! Sure, he could have a little more faith in Shepard like Garrus but I respect his choice. Garrus admires Shep and doesn't question her (his) actions. Kaidan admires her, too, but is more critical. He doesn't follow blindly. I like that.

Jacob, well... seems kind of arrogant. Plays the cool guy. Even after his loyal mission he pretends like everything is ok. Yeah, right, finding out that your dad went crazy is no big deal... does he even have a personal history??
I will romance Jacob just to see if he develops a more likeable side eventually. So far his character bears no attraction to me whatsoever. The worst aspect of that romance is the way Shep talks to him, though. They talk for about a minute and Shep starts coming on to him. WTF?! Oh, and Jacob's voice sounds right out of a porno, at least his German voice. I had to play the German version this time because BW did not provide the English version for download as promised and so fooled me into thinking the German version would be fine. So I ordered the English version from Amazon UK yesterday.

His shoulders look massive because of the armor plates built up around them.  His waist looks small because of the comparitively large shoulder armor and the slimming powers of the color black.  On his default costume, look* at where the black is.

Jacob is a good bro material for MaleShep IMO, whilst Kaidan is possibly best LI for FemShep. Though I prefer Kaidan, as he is Sentinel and basically good at everything + he is a nice guy and really care about Shepard.

I've never liked Kaiden too much. Jacob I've always thought added a degree of military formality that was needed on the SR2. I'm not saying I'm a die hard Jacob fan, I just think he's chill.

I'm just stating which character works for me and which doesn't. I don't hate Jacob. Just saying he's not a good LI, for me. Websites are full of Kaidan-haters and nobody seems to mind.

I can see how Jacob is liked by male players and a good fit for a male Shep. He fits into the Cerberus mission, no doubt. Kaidan would have seemed out of place, so not having him return in ME2 was a good choice.

Carth, Sky, Kaidan, Jacob and Alistair. They all seem like the same guy to me... Nice guys, but terribly dull and kinda regressive due to some tragedy/problem in their past. They pretend to not want to talk about it, but don't seem to talk about anything else, especially if the main character is female.

Kaiden was definitely written for the ladies. Does his horizon dialogue freak anyone else out? I saved him on virmire with my male-shep because I hate Ash with the passion of a thousand suns. But I wasn't friendly towards Kaiden at all. Then I run into him on Horizon and he gives me a speech about how losing me was like losing a limb. :/

When I played with a male Shep myself I was so disappointed to find out that the conversations are largely the same. Same with a female Shep and Ash. I'd like it better if they'd only tell you certain things if you romance them. Gives more of an incentive to try out various LI combinations.

I really liked Kaidan untill he turned his back on me. And now I decided to stay with Jacob.

At first, I didn't really care for Kaidan. But after a while, I ended up respecting him. So much so, that after he died, every time I see his face pop up in the Normandy Crash Site and at the Human Ambassador's Office, I salute him.



Jacob bores the hell out of me though. Jacob makes me wish Kaidan survived.

I like both characters, but sane human males are always going to have an edge with me. Kaidan is a better LI, but that's all 100% the writer's doing. Jacob's dialogue just doesn't have as much depth. I do wish Jacob had a better grasp on strategy and tactics, though, him being a soldier and whatnot.

I'm semi-ambivalent to both, myself. I don't dislike them, but don't like them as much as I wanted to. I hope the Kaidan thing goes somewhere awesome because I do have a playthrough for that purpose. It might be nice to see us get something more substantial out of Jacob than "But the priiiiize..."



But all in all I'd rather have Joker still than either of them.

Kaidan can barely handle a pistol....Jacob can work both a hand gun and a shotty....

Kaiden was a medic, the extent of his use was when I press Y for medigel
