But if he is, that drops my opinion of Maric quite a bit. I just can't see him sleeping around twice.

No worries. He didn't sleep around twice. Dozens of times more like.

I'm not hearing the similarities, but that might be because it's a different accent than either of those two characters, which doesn't necessarily mean it's not one of the actors. It's not like they didn't have actors playing multiple roles in Origins. Still, I'm not hearing it....

So is the fact that Anders looks and sounds like them significant, or is it just a devious plan by the devs to drive us all crazy wondering about it until March 16, when we will still receive no definite proof one way or the other so that they can laugh at us as we ponder and scratch our heads and tear our hair out wanting to know?!  :o

This. Just this. QFT. :D

Absolutely this.  In fact, i bet they have coffee-break, donuts and giggles over our flights of fancy.  What can I say, flights of fancy taste better with a boston cream?.  I'm happy to oblige with a bit of nonsense to go with the tim hortons coffee. :)

If you were going to release a character first, wouldn't YOU release the one with Cailan Alistair looks, Duncan hair and a deceptively familiar voice? Hmmm?   :wizard:

Might he be from Tevinter? Or was that just the roles?

I wonder how much some of this wordplay in DA is intentional. People keep noting that the name "Alistair" is a version of Alexander, which means "defender of man." Alex-ander. Anders.

Anders - Scandinavian form of Andrew. Greek 'manly'.

Same root word.  Andros = Ancient Greek for "man".  That's what I was getting at.  Anyway, just a minor curiosity.

It occurs to me that if another of the bloodline shows up, one who is able to reproduce, Alistair won't need to provide an heir anymore. Well, it couldn't be a mage, probably, but someone else....

I'm dead certain that Anders is one of Maric's sons. He just looks way too much like Alistair and Cailan for it to be a mere coincidence.

Anders being Maric and Fiona's son is looking pretty likely to me, too.  Especially since, given old Tevinter's thing for tracking mage's geneologies, magical tenancies may be hereditary.  But then again, who knows?  They might be pulling our chains.

re: Morrigan's age...the DA Toolset sets her at 30 years old.  So yeah.

As much as I hate to admit it, I can see where Anders being Maric and Fiona's son would fit into the story too. We already know that Awakening will have something to do with the Architect, who was featured in the book the Calling - the same one as Maric and Fiona, so it seems logical to bring in their son to tie it all together, and hey, maybe even bring Fiona into the picture! I would actually enjoy that a lot.

Then again, I still want Alistair to be Maric and Fiona's son, so we're back to anxiously awaiting March 16 and hoping that there are no delays. And if the PS3 version gets delayed....I might have to go and buy the PC version. Just saying.

The voice actor for Anders is Greg Ellis. He voiced Disciple in KOTOR2, E in Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and a bunch of other stuff. He's also voiced a lot of characters in DA:O and its add-ons--Cullen, Patter Gritch, and the Ash Warrior Leader in vanilla DA:O, Felix de Grosbois and Matthias in the Stone Prisoner, and assorted other minor voices.

BioWare must really like him, because they sure have given him a lot of work! Fortunately, he's very good!

It would probably be a good idea to avoid tainting any male Ferelden between the ages of 15 and 35, especially if he has blond hair and a propensity for being a smart ass.

Hey look, 0:19. Another Oghren Shot!

Also, there is a girl member with the PC when he says "I didn't do it!", my guess is that is the female NPC that joins the wardens. Although the face seems remotely familiar... Something like Anora...

Very good advice Nonvita. I listened to Anders and I said... I'm sure you're going to be just like your brother and father. ~Ducks pies~ :D

Morrigan doesn't seem that old...

She also looks nothing like Maric. And considering how dominant that man's genes seem to be in his children, I have a hard time believing something like Morrigan could emerge...

OR, I'm just clinging to the hope that not every character in DA is somehow Maric's illegitimate child. :pinched:

I thought that during conversations, Morrigan pretty much tells the player that Flemmeth adopted her? Anyone know for sure?

Anyway, if Anders is Maric's son, I suspect someone might try to use him in a coup against Alistair. The player could, for whatever reason support this, or give Anders the freedom from noblility Alistair no longer has.

If Anders is Wynne's son, it could provide new insight for the last dangling thread from her storyline(maybe Wynne become Anders' guardian spirit?). Also, it could explore why exactly Mage relations are discouraged, and why children born of two Magi belong to the Chantry. If Anders is indeed Wynne's son, maybe helping to change this policy would be part of his personal quest?

Regardless of Anders' parentage, I personally think that from a storytelling standpoint that he is Jowan 2.0. Even though the profile said he hates Blood Mages, Anders' video showed he could fairly wild and unpredicatable. Not to mention that David Gaider said in one post that a Companion Jowan would have to be "less whiny"Image IPB.

I rather do hope that Maric was a man-**** and has tons of royal bastards running amok out there. Whatever his faults, the man does breed some seriously smashing looking sons. Fereldon could use such an injection of attractive genes. Especially the Dalish, though unfortunately, they would only get human kids.

Maybe it's for the best.

I don't think he's actually from Tevinter, but he could have some connections in the country, which would explain the robes and give the Chantry people an extra reason to go after him beyond merely being an apostate (which, correct if I'm wrong, I believe he states in the trailer).

His voice is very distinctive; I recognized it.  So you can't count this information as official, as I did not get it from any official source, although I'm quite sure it's him.

Ah, looks to me like old King Maric has another bastard roaming about.   Good on him!  He really knew how to spread that royal seed around.

I think it'd be hilarious if there were a token "Maric's bastard child" in every DA release.
