In ME1, Wrex was deadly powerful - nearly unkillable, even on insanity (Barrier + invulnerability.. plus fast regen? Woa).
Story wise, Wrex was a thinking-man's krogan. He was intelligent, insightful. Grunt is the Hulk... anything and everything he says is overly cliche... it all pertains to smashing, cutting, killing, stomping, etc.
Whereas Wrex is versatile... he's a strategist and tactician... you can have interesting discussions with him that don't boil down to smashing stuff.
Realistically, I give Wrex as a squadmate in ME3 less than 1% probability... he'll make an appearance, for sure (for those who kept him alive in ME1) most likely even have a significant role in the story / end of ME3... but as a good ol squaddie? I highly doubt it

I preferred Wrex far more both from combat / gameplay viewpoint and.. especially.. a character viewpoint.

I love Wrex and missed him as my squadmate. Grunt is ok but I think I tend to dislike him just because I compare him to Wrex all the time and well, he isn't Wrex. It isn't Grunt's fault at all...I just want Wrex back and it makes me sad that everyone is so complacent about accepting that he isn't on the crew because he has an important role on Tuchanka. Eff that. Let Wreav sit on top of that pile of rubble and let Wrex back on the Normandy where he belongs.
i agree. as much cred as i give to grunt for being a balls out pure bred krogan baby, theres not a better krogan out there, then wrex. compareing the two, theres nothing ive seen grunt do, that wrex couldnt do with only 2 testicles. wrex is the king of the krogans, and when time comes for then end of the entire galaxy by extinction, kings dont sit on throwns, they lay waste to everything in their way and save the world with their best human buddy and hot asari and then once they are victoriouse hell walk off into the sunset set only saying one word....."shepard."

But honestly I like both of them. It felt more rewarding to gain Wrex's trust because he already was somebody of importance. With Grunt, he is bound to become someone of great importance, and you are there to guide him, he is a kind of Wrex from the past.
The only issue I have with Grunt is that he is only a soldier, I NEVER use soldiers. For all the playthroughs I did, I never chose to be a soldier. I want Grunt to develop the same powers as the battlemasters, then I would like him just as much, but use him in combat too. Honestly, in insanity, Grunt was not that useful.

He is just a baby, Who knows? Maybe he will develop biotic abilities like Wrex? All the best Krogan have them and Grunt is supposed to be the Ultimate Krogan, He can already get shot up without shields and keep on trucking, imagine him with a biotic barrier!

Prefered him a lot more then Grunt, he was way too boring imo. Though it would be cool to have them both there.

Honestly, I want a Krogan in my team and Grunt will become the best, so Grunt stays. And dammit this is Shep's baby Krogan, he stays with Shep, period. lol.
@TexasToast: I always imagined that one day Grunt would develop biotic abilities for the reason you mentioned. But i'm trying not to think too much about it, because if that does not happen, I will be sad :'(

I found Grunts history (including the lack of it), much more interesting. Wrex was just a steriotypical tough guy Krogan who turned into a leader offscreen. IMO there can be a lot more character development in Grunt in which we can hopefully learn what Okeers real purpose in him was. Just what was imprinted, for us to find out later, while he was growing in the tank?
You say Wrex is steriotypical but I have to disagree. Wrex si a though guy yes, but he doesn't want to fight. He never did he wanted to unite the Krogans but all of them only wanted to fight and not unite. So Wrex became a merc.
I think grunt is a more steriotypicaly Krogan all he wants to do is fight.
With all that said I think Grunt will be in ME3 as long as he didn't die. I think more of the squadmates will be in ME3 because that was the point of ME2. Unless they died of course.

The main difference between Grunt and Wrex as i see it is that both want to fight, but Wrex would prefer to do so for a good reason: the survival of the krogan. If there is no win for the krogans in general he is happy to settle for fighting for cash. Grunt on the other hand just want to fight. This makes Wrex more interesting to me but I like them them both and see no good reason I shouldn't get both in ME3.
Also, imagine DAO style squad banter between Wrex and Grunt, that could be some comedy and meme gold right there.

When did Wrex not want to fight? He did become a leader (although we missed that part) but he was still volatile retaining the typical Krogan tendancies. I found conversations with him in ME1 somewhat grating. So although Wrex may have been remarkable for a Krogan, from our point of view, his standout out qualities are still his stubborness and aggresiveness.expanding panic wrote...

As I said before, with Grunt I suspect there is lot more that we don't realise yet thanks to Okeer. He is more humerous and there is much more room for character development.
