The deaths on the suicide mission, especially the characters you really took to. Then you had to go forward with the mission no matter who got taken, even if it was your LI.

I also got really scared, like emotionally scared when at the end after you beat the big human reaper, one of your squadmates begins to slide off that platform thing; in my case it was Garrus. I was like **** no! I won't let you die. But he lived, so I was okay,

Same for me on my first play through when I was using Grunt and Miranda.

To many more emotional parts to name.

for me, a lot of the loyalty missions were pretty emotional. not exactly sad or whatever, but they made me understand the characters though good writing and empathy. mordin's confliction about the genophage, zaeed's thurst for revenge, miranda's love for her sister, samara's anger and sadness towards morinth were all valid and touching in their own way. also for me, since i romanced jack i sent her to lead the second squad once and when she died say something like "how'd you talk me into this" i felt super bad about it. also if you dump her when she comes to sleep with you. that was sad. well...for her.

- The reveal of the SR2. The music was just perfect.

- Seeing what a monster Liara had become.

- Watching Yeoman Kelly disintegrate was mortifying.

But oddly enough, my favorite moment was when Shepard pressed Legion for an answer about why he uses the N7 armor, and it couldn't think of an adequate response. Simply a pause and "No data." Really showed that the Geth are not simply a single state machine arriving at the most logical answer. They have impulse.

A couple of moments come to mind.

When Mordin was talking about the work he did on the genophage in front of the dead Krogan female. The dialouge and the camera angles were absolutely perfect.

Going into the final mission I knew people could die, I don't think a video game has ever made me that nervous before, literally on the edge of my seat.

After I decided to destroy the Collector Base, the final confrontation with TIM when Shepard said " YOU ARE NOT HUMANITY!" Just felt like the perfect thing to say.

I was so nervous going into the suicide mission. When Tali was trying to close the door I was like "come on Tali, HURRY THE %@#$ UP!" Then she closed it and it was fine. Then when Garrus got shot I was like "&$#% NO!!!" but he was also fine. Then Jack died at the very end and I was sad.

Also, I really enjoyed Jacob's loyalty mission. I thought it was really unique and satisfying. Especially the way it ends if you choose to leave his dad on the planet. BOOM to the face!!

Tali seeing her father dead was hard.

Oh, when I went up to my cabin and saw all my fish dead. :(

OP I totally agree with you about the vid log. It caught me completely by surprise and actually brought tears to my eyes.

I was also pretty bummed about losing Zaeed and Jacob in the last mission.

Very first "emotional" part (When you get the strange.. tingly sensation, and you just can't help but smile): Hugging Tali when she encounters her father dead.

Tali's Storyline was absolutely suburb, the best by far IMO.

And I loved the part when she would get nervous and just ramble on embarrassed for the romance.

<3 Tali FTW <3

For me the most emotional moment was seeing the Normandy SR1 torn to pieces like it was trash. I have spent waaaaay to many hours playing Mass Effect 1, and I have logged in lots of hours on the Normandy. So seeing her ripped apart like that, to only be replaced and forgotten about was a bit emotional for me. The Normandy has a significant meaning to me, especially with it's connections to WW2. I mean that little ship did the impossible. It was nice to get a sort of memorial to the Normandy via the crash site, but still....

I also cringed at the screaming of burning people when you do Zaeed's loyalty mission. A bit unsettling.

Agreed, that was a very special moment. Legion didn't understand why he did it, but we do because we're human. That small moment spoke volumes of what the Geth really are.

Also, the beginning was probably the best intro to a game I've experienced, trying to escape the Normandy and failing.

I agree that Garrus's scene where he gets shot by the gunship was pretty jarring. Also, the part where he wanted to kill that guy, I was pretty torn about what to let Garrus do.

One was definitely Tali's father. Hug interrupt! She's my femShep's little sister. Way too much stuff to list, but Thane romance scene too - even that mother who was crying and talking about her murdered daughter, Nef. That was part of Samara's loyalty quest, and man, that was sad too - a mother having to kill her own daughter. *wince* I think I said all this in the other thread too - heh.

-Garrus getting hit by the gunship. My first time through I didn't kill the mechanic, so I thought that the gunship tearing Garrus up was my fault, and I got him killed because I was trying to be a 'good guy'. I was incredibly relieved afterwards, and now I tend to take those Renegade options. ;)

-Grunt died after I assigned him to the 'distraction' team. "It was a good fight, Shepard. A good fight."

-Seeing Liara become cold and heartless.

-Walking through the ship during the intro, especially the part when you walk out into the vacuum of space...

There are many more... but I just want to play now. I love this game so much.

I'll just skip the Tali stuff, because that's a given.

When Garrus was gunned down. I was half ready to 1) blow up Omega. 2) turn off ME2 in rage because I thought he died.

Rage counts as emotional :P

Kelly getting dragged screaming into the elevator... ugh geez. Can I say I was NOT EXPECTING THAT.

a.) Jennifer Hale's last gasps of air during the intro. Such a huge difference!

b.) SR2 reveal. Just... wow.

c.) Garrus being gunned down.

d.) Tali overall was well written, but during (I believe) the second bit of romance the simple animation of holding and folding Shep's hand within hers... so amazingly subtle and probably the best bit of the game that will never be talked about.

e.) Headshot on the Harbinger through full barrier/health while Shep's was dangerously low. Infiltrator ftw.

as has been said to death a million times already, but still bears repeating, tali's paragon hug. i really got choked up in that whole scene when she found her father. the mesage log as the quarian says goodbye to her family before getting blasted by geth was moving as well.

also, like a lot of people, i cheered when i found out that archangel was garrus, and i damn near cried when he got hit by the gunship. i was actually sitting there going "you cant die! DONT DIE ON ME!!!"

also gave me chills walking around the normandy sr-1's crash site. the thing that made me uneasy was walking around collecting dog tags, and that kinda hit home being former military myself.

No real deep emotional reaction yet, merely profound admiration at some of the dramatic scenes (that one where Thane prays before his loyalty mission, and all of Jack's dialog during hers).

Disappointment at the reunion with Liara and Ashely - does that count?

Tali's voice actor did great work for this game. Finding her father and that hug you give her were the most emotional moments in my games so far. Her awkward, stammering lead in to the romance was perfect, but what sold me on her as a LI was her lament at being stuck in her encounter suit, "I want you to see what's under this helmet... etc". These were all great moments.

Samara's lines after you complete her loyalty mission... jarring, sad.

That poor salarian on Illium at the gift shop. He's realizing how short lived he is, and frantically trying to pick a gift for his bondmate to remember him by. His stepdaughter's trying to comfort him, having never known her own father who was similarly short lived. I don't know why, but that little ambient conversation always causes me to stop and listen in.

Miranda talking to her sister.

Seeing kelley dragged away by her hair as Joker... wow.

The character development in this game has been great, I've had a much stronger emotional reaction to this game than the original.

Samara shooting you down. Man, the music was perfect, but I felt like such a sucker. Maddening and saddening in the extreme.

A close second would be the SR2 reveal. The music was just amazing.

Hell, the music in the game was just AMAZING all around. I approve 100%.

When Mordin dies at that one particular part where they get to say something.

"Tell them that I...Held the Line."

I bawled like a damn baby.

Also Grunt's:

"It was a good fight Shepard...heh..."

I remember that part! Where he disappears right as the prayer is ending. That was pretty badass, and totally unexpected.

Liz Sroka. She's an excellent voice actor, and Tali wouldn't have nearly as much love as she does without her. Sroka pretty much *is* Tali, in a sense...and if the Talilovers start stalking Sroka...er...creeeeeeeeeepy.

I liked Tali's trial, but mostly because of the voice acting on all parts (especially with a femshep), and the camera work. The cinematography for those scenes was exceptional. Missed framing, quick zooms, unsteady cam in the up-close shots with smooth-panning high-up shots (the difference we see on screen between a hand-held camera without a really solid steadycam and a camera on a boom)...masterful piece of work.

Mordin's death was the most emotionally charged moment for me. I really, really liked Mordin. But to see him die when you chose him as the leader of the diversion team in the second part of the mission...his words are quite moving.
