Technically I suppose it would not be considered cheating since there is no actual romance with the ME1 characters anymore. Ash/Kaidan send you a little email that kinda sorta acknowledges something happened between them in ME1, but nothing else really.

There is no acknowledgment at all for Sheps that romanced Liara that anything at all happened between them in ME1.

Shep should be free and clear, it would be incredibly lame to have some sort of "consequence" in ME3 for having an ME2 LI considering that BW themselves ended all the ME1 romances without giving the player any options on what they wanted to do.

I'm not sure about Ashley, but with Kaidan's email he suggests that once things calm down you might get back together again.  Which shows he's still holding a candle for Shepard, and if you remain faithful you see that Shepard still holds a candle for him too with the whole "staring sadly at the photograph" scene.

An email and staring at a photo is a pretty large interpretation of an ongoing relationship. Still, its an email more than you get with Liara.

Yeah.. that she does. But it's just too easy to cheat on you ME1 LI, it happens before you know it.

Not really, this is a game, not a real life situation.  The email literally says that when things calm down Kaidan (and I suspect this does happen with Ashley too) wanted to see if things could maybe go somewhere again.  It's written awkwardly for realism, but you can get the hint that remaining loyal to your ME1 romance leads to something in ME3.  That's my theory anyway, and I'm sticking with it.

I actually think the game was made to make you do that by all their responses :o

I remember finally getting to Wrex, hearing him scream "Shepard! My friend!" warmed my heart.:crying:

I loved Liara, but after seeing her on Illium and not getting to see her diologe about what happened, my heart broke. So then while Chatting with Garrus, he talked about relieving some stress, and it just kinda grew from there. But Tali is my real love; if only they let her be romanced by femshep. :(

I am on an emotional rollercoaster X(

Not it's not. You either care for someone or you don't, whether you are in a relationship or apart. This being an RPG you get to decide to keep holding that flame or snuff it out, if you do that picture gets turned on it's face on the desk.... Pretty clear symbolism there!

Let me get something straight.  I didn't cheat on Liara.  One day, I was feeling vulnerable and she took advantage of me.

So we slept together.  So what?  It's not like we were married.  And even if we were, that's only "'till death do you part."  I'd be free and clear anyway.

So, y'know, it's not cheating.

It's not cheating if you did Liara and then someone else because she cheated on you while searching for your body and then became an obsessed lunatic.

lol not read the whole post but as when I meet Liara in ME2 she was far more focused on her revenge on the shadow broker than in me it seems highly likly that she considered me an ex and still a good friend there certainly wasn't the "god thought you were dead we need to get some time together to catch up" stile talk and the romance with Tali came after the meeting with Liara.

certainly not cheating if you have split up with your ex even if the split was somewhat unusual

I dunno, seemed more to me she pulled away at the last second and then shook her head no.  I'll have to go back and check a youtube vid, it might have just been my first impression.

I thought she did, pretty sure she did.
