I have no problem with dlc. I DO have a problem with it soaking up resources during initial development.

With the vast resource pool that a corporation like EA/BioWare has, I have to doubt that designing a few extra weapons and armor consumed any significant resources.

Wow you people cry about the dumbest stuff. Can't you guys just enjoy the game without coming to a forum and complaining about it. This game is amazing stop whining and enjoy it Jesus.

Our "whining" is a lot more productive than entering a discussion of something you dont care about and telling everyone their opinions don't matter.

Then why are there so few in the base game?

Most likely intentional game design.

They should not even HAVE a DLC department untill the game is finished.

It is fine to start devolpment of the sequal just before the other game is finished because they are clearly seperate.

Sorry mate. Your belief that Bioware somehow "cuts" content to sell it asDLC is nothing but a conspiracy theory. This has already been beaten to death in the DA forums and the devs themselves have answered this countless times.

If you think this practice somehow makes Bioware greedy/evil/sellout whatever, then I point to you that more and more games are choosing DLC as the only profitable way to make extended content for a game. Fallout3 does it, Borderlands does it, MW 2 does it. Stop living in the past.

Where did i say any of those things?

Never said they cut content, as a matter of fact i mentioned that they had a DLC department that made thinds intended as DLC from the beginning.

Where did i sayi have a problem with DLC in general?

Do you have a problem with my opiion. (which i apparantly have to clarify). I feel that DLC should be an additional thing which is barely even considered untill the game is out.

BW is a fairly large company, there are different teams devoted to different things... ME2 was being developed at the same time as DA:O... was DA:O soaking up resources from the ME2 team?

For heaven's sake...

It's a business decision people. Be thankful that EA's executives came to their senses (most notably recently their CEO), and have knocked-it-off with the absurdly over-zealous DRM schemes (Spore, anyone?). They saw all that backlash and finally said "****...well...if we can't stop people from pirating, we'll still take their money somehow." Enter DLC and pre-order perks.

TBH, I think they've struck a pretty darned happy middle ground here. They aren't treating paying customers like criminals with insane DRM, but they're still giving very, very strong incentive for people to cough-up the dough. The Cerberus Network Card idea is a pretty darn good one, from a business point-of-view. I say, kudos to EA and BioWare for cooking it up. It's a step in the right direction for the gaming industry; a fair middle-ground between the consumers and the corporations providing the product.

Mass Effect 2 and Dragon age are different projects that would have been allocated different resources

I couldnt agree with you more....except them starting DLC before the game is out (the exclusive stuff, where i order shouldnt impact what i get). The Collectors items/Cerberus network i am fine with. I am VERY happy for Bioware to get more money and EB games to get less.

^^^^What he said, the issue is not from DLC in general. It is more from all the promotional items that make it impossible to get these things that should have been in the game in the first place.

BioWare became as greedy as EA

If and only if it was designed as base content. Otherwise, it was budgeted, designed, and intended as promo content, and your notion of what should be in there is little more than self-entitled ranting without actual substance.

So then 25% of the armor suits in the game are "base" content and 75% are "extra" content.

Really?

Not a very intelligent observation when the pirates are enjoying all of the DLC and anyone outside of the US can't get half the helmets in the game and anyone else who didn't buy multiple copies, CE or pre-order can't get 25-75% of the armor suits in the game.

If there were 5-10 different suits of armor and then the promotional content, likewise with helmets, then people wouldn't be complaining so much. When the "promo" content outnumbers the base content in the game 3 to 1 people take notice.

Zaeed, the Hammerhead and Kasumi were clearly cut out of the game so they could be sold as DLC (and so that people don't buy the game used)

If you check the conrols on the PC version you can clearly see Vehicle Controls and there's a video on youtube running the base game in debug mode where you can see both Zaeed and Kasumi

EDIT: I forgot to add that one of the earliest concept art from ME2 that we saw is from an early version of Zaeed, here:

I would have no problem if the majority of DLCs were free except for a few important new content.

However, the fact that they took stuff out the game (characters, vehicle exploration) in order to sell as promo is absurd. Heck, the fact that the Hammerhead is still not released as DLC shows that the game was rushed. They had to meet a deadline, so they cut out contents of the game. Too bad for the consumers, this method enables Bioware to both be lazy and to earn more money.

There is still the problem with class balance. Honestly, ME2 is a huge disappointment. I was hoping they wouldn't stuff the game with DLCs like they did with DA:O, but I keep forgetting the giant EA sign.

There better not be in game advertisements. That really really pissed me off in DA:O, where an NPC which I can never get rid of with a giant ! above his head keeps asking me to complete a quest but I need to pay for it. What's worse? It's in the base camp, the equivalent to the Normandy. If there is a guy in the Normandy who acts as a promo and tries to sell me the Hammerhead or a DLC character, I'm officially done with Bioware.
