Jack and Grunt for me... hell, I took them almost everywhere all the time. Even though Jack seems allergic to cover *ahem*

Jack: "If I die out here I'm gonna haunt you, Shepard!"

Shep: "Try ducking, then..."

It's mostly strategy. I took Grunt and Miranda and breezes through it. Order them to stand at the end of a hallway (or long open space) and go trigger the husks, run back, and then just slaughter them.

Ok.... what really sucks is I'm playing casual.

That's right. casual. *waits for the flames*

Sooo.....Grunt/Jack or Garrus/Grunt??

Would Jack and Grunt probably be the best option?

It can take some getting used to the differences between ME1 & ME2 Adept and Vanguard.

As a Vanguard, take cover, send your team out to take point.
Spam 'pull' and 'shockwave' (ignore the little red markers that say the target is behind cover or shields, just spam them. Your biotics will do some damage no matter what.    When you do pull someone out of cover, or knock them over, then your team will pick them off.  Take shots using the Carnex hand cannon, and cryo rounds.  You will slow the target and your team will pop them.

Get used to thinking tactically, and strategically.

And don't get sucked in by the cutscenes where Shepard picks up pieces of wall, or I-Beam, like they were paper.
You won't be able to melee swarms of husks or varren no matter what. There will never be a convenient I-Beam lying around, to beat a husk with, when you need it.  Heck, I'd settle for a good old reliable crow bar ;)

Basically, avoid taking damage, even if you have fortification (which looks cool), barrier, or Geth Shielding.
At higher levels these will help to protect you, but melee and standing up to weapons fire is for soldiers, though YMMV.

Before you reach the point of being able to get some powers up to level3, you need to be able to duck, hide, spam pull, or shockwave, and shoot the hell out of any enemy foolish enough to be in the open.

Don't forget 'charge'.  Tactically, if you are about to be surrounded, and there is a lone target, across the room, 'charge', and then shotty the heck out of it and run away, to cover if need be.

Once you get the hang of the ME2 game mechanics, you might find that 'casual' is just way to easy, and you will find yourself on 'hardcore' in  no time.

On Insanity, my husk killing combo was a Sentinel with Area Reave, Mordin with Full Cryo Blast, and Grunt. Reave rips apart their armor instantly, and Cryo Blast stops their rush. Those powers cool down so fast you can lock down swarms of husks in seconds, and Grunt can handle any stragglers.

On lower difficulties you might only need Cryo Blast.

I took Tali with me as a logical choice for exploring the reaper tech. And I took Samara for a balance of biotic powers.

I think the husks ganged up and killed me once, but then I changed tactics and fell back away from them and picked them off from a distance with my concussive shots while Tali distracted them with a combat drone and Samara could use throw to blast them away if they got too close.

Also, if you notice there are explosive crates around so I used those to take out groups before they could get me. And the Abominations (red husks) explode when you kill them and can take out other husks around them.

If one of the husks got past the guns and came up too close to me, I noticed a popup message telling me I could use melee combat and I learned to punch them to death with my fists, which I thought was satisfying! Doesn't work on groups, but good for single husks!

P.S. shooting out their legs seemed to kill them quickly too.

As a Vanguard on Insanity I took Grunt and Mordin and it was almost unfair ... between Mordin's area Incinerate, my area Shockwave and Grunt smashing anything that got close, this was probably the easiest fight on Insanity.

Jack and Miranda are my ideal team for this one. Shockwave works wonders against Husk clusters, and Miranda's Warp is good against the Scions (in addition to her slam one-shot and healt/damage boosts). Grunt and Thane are also decent choices.

As a solider on hardcore I took garrus and Tali and dominated the mission. Garrus sat back and sniped, and Tali and I were in the thick of it, me with the revanent and tali with an eviscerator shotty. Combat drone provided distraction and 'splosion. Garrus and I used enough ammo to rebuild soverign but it worked

Really? I think I just gave him his special shotty. What's a second good teammate? Where the hell did husks learn to group like that?

Second teammate? Do biotics or tech work better?

I'd take a biotic.  Hopefully a character that has area attacks like shockwave, pull, or throw.  I agree those Husks are a pain.

I strongly reccomend taking Mordin. Heavy Incinerate is best against those damn scion's. For unique dialogue, take either Garrus or Tali. They both do fairly well, too.

Have played it numerous times on Insanity. About the only ineffective team member there is Tali. All the others have useful strengths, depending on who you team them up with.

On Insanity, as an Infiltrator, I had an absolute ball with Grunt and Zaeed, and Incendiary Genade as my bonus power. Area Incinerate scrubs their armor, and refreshes very fast. Concussive blast (Zaeed) is an insta-kill when they have no armor. Inferno Grenade is useful for larger clusters to do massive group damage. Use yourself and Zaeed and you can wipe off armor from even a huge scattered group. Grunt, if anything, is the weak leak in the team, but with his inferno armmo and concussive blast, he can mop up stragglers and/or shoot them down and charge them if they get too close.

Basically, any team works that can do a combination of mass-armor depletion and mass-armorless insta-kill through either: concussive shot/blast, area pull, shockwave, singularity, or any other ability that throws them into the air which is always an insta-kill on armorless husks.
