Which do you guys prefer? Whether it be voice actors, facial options, love interest options, etc.
I would have to say that it is much more enjoyable playing the female shepard. The main reason for that is the actor. For some reason, I feel that the male voice over is very... monotone and hardly lacks emotion. Every time I play a male, I feel as if I HAVE to play renegade just so I don't have to hear the actor's attempts of expressing emotion, haha.
Another option for femshep has to be Garrus! That man is my hero. Should Shepard die, you should have the option to play Garrus in ME3.. Na, j/k... but that would be funny.

Femshep for the voice tone. I love the not-quite-grating, why-am-talking-to-you undertone Hale has in some conversations.
ManShep for romance options.

It seems like every guy who plays as Femshep lives out their mancrush fantasies through her. Nothing wrong with that, though.
I play as Femshep because I can't stand looking at the male sheps for more than three seconds and the VA is much better, and interactions are just better as a whole. And yes... Garrus.

Voice Acting wise female shep all the way. In fact it's femshep all the way except for one, small, tiny but highly significant problem.
I can't romance Tali with femshep, so manshep it'll have to be.

Everyone poo-poos the MaleShep VA, but I feel like it's much improved in ME2. (At least for his 'paragon voice'.)
I have one of each, but paragon adept MaleShep is the main one in my mind.

Hard call. MaleShep I connect the most to, and is the only one who can romance Tali & Jack, so thats hard to beat.
But FemShep has the better voice by far, and better hair. But the female relationships in ME1/2 didn't move me as much. They were more enjoyable in Dragon Age (particularly Allister)

Oxymoron is oxymoronic.
Anyways, I choose the male. I don't think the voice acting is better, but I just find it easier to roleplay a male Shepard, since I too am male. It's hard to make the argument that Meer is better than Hale. I find the monotony works really well for the character I've created, though. I'm paragon (mostly) but I very, very rarely use charms.

I like femshep overall for the voice acting, though I can't bring myself to romance people when I play femshep.
Manshep has his moments - he does the "big stupid jellyfish" line better.

I always play femshep because its better to look at, but I've always felt the voice acter sounded like she was really bored and tired. You would probably replace all her lines with "wwhhhhhaaaateverrrrr........" and it would sound the same. Manshep sounds like a pretty strong, confident guy... if you were holding your hands around his neck slightly restricting the airway when he talks.
I don't like either voice acter, though I would choose manshep if I had to. I play femshep for the looks.

Maleshep, I can't identify with female characters. At all.

M Shep gets Tali but he has a creepers smile
F Shep as a renegade is more subtle so I find her a more intimidating character but she has a giraffe neck
Acting quality when looked at as a whole is the same in my mind.

Well, no ****. It does help running a FemShep to think of yourself as choosing where the grand story goes rather than being Shep.VettoRyouzou wrote...

I think Maleshep is better... he has a default face that is modelled off of a real life person which makes him look more realistic, and he has a better voice imho. I was never too keen on Femshep being voiced by Hale as much as I do love her.

Jennifer Hale is just a way better voice actor. They should have gotten Gary Chalk to play the male Shepard.

Male.
It's just more probably that a man could have risen to such a high rank and prestige in the Alliance military, and accomplished the feats that Shepard does in ME1 and ME2, rather than a woman.

I play and like both. Each has their pro's and con's, none of which really make or break one over the other for me.

FemShep Pros:
1. Prefer Hale over Meer
2. Better LIs.
MaleShep Pros:
1. Easier to connect with a male character for me.
FemShep wins.

I started playing as maleshep so in my mind that's what I think about when I play. The voice works pretty well with the way my character looks. Heh, I now have the two connected, so its really difficult to watch my roommate play a different character, because in the back of my mind I think the voice is "off". I tried to play as femshep the other day and can't do it since I always feel strange trying to romance guys as a female. I can't connect to femshep for some reason.

Why does everyone like the female voice acter? What do you hear in her voice that sounds so good? All I hear is "yawn yawn yawn".

They both have their merits, I mean you want to look at it, playing as a male or female Shepard creates an even further sub-category then just paragon/renegade. I think both voice actors fit their respective roles well. I work better as a male Shepard since well I'm a dude, that's just the way the ball rolls I guess.
