Femshep for me. Mostly because I'm female and it is role playing, so yeah, and I get to customize her appearance so it's not like she looks like a dog. I like mine anyway.

But the Femshep's VA is superior to Maleshep's and that's probably the trump card. She feels more integrated in the story because her lines are executed better than the Maleshep's. That's my take on it at any rate. My brother plays the Maleshep, and while I've tried to create one as well, Maleshep's voice actor is a major distraction at times.

EDIT* Also, as far as LIs are concerned, I've never really cared much about who the Maleshep's LIs were because it always feels weird to me to be romancing a chick. But anyway, Garrus was all I wanted and I got him, so there you have it. Can't beat that.

Why does everyone like the female voice acter? What do you hear in her voice that sounds so good? All I hear is "yawn yawn yawn".

I don't mind Meer, I just think Hale did a better badass commander sounding voice. Meer's just falls flat for me at times or can sound a bit awkward while at worst Hale sounds slightly bored, and even then only rarely.

Male.

It's just more probably that a man could have risen to such a high rank and prestige in the Alliance military, and accomplished the feats that Shepard does in ME1 and ME2, rather than a woman.

Nice can of worms ya' got thar.

Well it was a good laugh, .

Femshep. Quite simply, easier to relate and identify with.

I hate the way they handled female body armor, the chest plate just looks so hokey. If it weren't for that, I would probably run a femshep.

I hate the way it makes Ashley look as well. All the non-combat armor wearing fem toons look great though!

Also if you don't think male shep is better

Holy crap I had to stop watching. Almost spoiled all the juicy renegade moments for my second playthrough. I already did fem paragon, was gonna do fem renegade but screw that... male renegade all the way.

Prefer femShep, as much as I give credit to Meer for the big improvement he made in his voiceacting, Hale was better before and improved in ME2 even more drasticly, I can think of only 4 or 5 times during the course of the whole game where the VA was not perfect.

It is unfortunate that femShep is left with poor choices for romance, but there is still Liara, and if you can get past the looks Garrus is cool. I will not romance a male character though unless my wife specificly asks me too, and she found only Garrus worthwhile, I also agreed because if she would have request Thane or Jacob I would have said no and told her to start her own game.

Honestly cant see what women find attractive about men, we are hideous hairy beasts, while women are beautiful, but bleh, I am rambling.

Both Mass Effects have been the only games I played where all the dialog and story fit perfectly for a female and male. Most games leave female leads short changed in some regards or only use them as eye candy in an otherwise pointless game.

She sounds bored to me all the time, exept when shes flirting with a team mate. I have pretty sensetive musician's ears.

The voice acting all around went up from the first game.... I have to say that I loved Martin Sheen as Illusive Man. Who made the most improvement was Meer hands down. His Paragon and Renegade differences were great! I think Bioware picked great voice actors for both male and female Shepards.

Voice acting out of the way.... I have to go with Male Shep! I picked the original option for his face and haven't regretted it at all. I honestly think that his voice and face go together very nicely.

don't know why but I can't get my head around to play a female character. I'm a guy so I play a guy. Enough said.

FemShep. I like ManShep too, but I always play as a female the first time around and Hale doesn't disappoint in the slightest.

Female Shepard, the voice is just so much better. I can't play male Shepard at all.

I think the male shepard delivers the hilarious lines a lot better. My favorite's still the "I don't need this ****" line from the first game.

So male shepard.

Femshep because the Hale, unlike Maleshep in both games, doesn't sound like some bored frat guy phoning it in for beer money.

i enjoy femshep more i like starring at an nice ass for 30+ hours on a video game rather than a male ass.....

Yepper it is all about the eye candy, i am a little peeved that i can not make my femshep's ass look like Miranda's. As a male player i play Female characters anytime the option is avaliable when i have to look at the character for an extended period of time. If it is any type of FPS where i just see a gun, L4D2 for example it really makes no difference then. But if i gotta watch it wiggle then it will be a female wiggle.

That's cool, I've missed out on 9/10ths of the renegade dialogue.

Femshep. Reasons:

1. It's refreshing playing a Si-Fi game that doesn't have a stock male protagonist, and leaves the choice up to the player themselves.

2. I do prefer Femshep's voice to Manshep's.

3. I'm a guy, and I prefer to be looking at a form that is pleasing to me, for the 30+ hours of game play I know I'll put in.

4. I can "role-play" or "direct" better, I feel, when behind a female character, since then I don't have the urge to play said character as myself, should they be male. I'm not female, so Shepard isn't me, sort of thing.

I like both actors, but female Shepard was my main character in ME 1, but unfortunately the better romances are for Male Shepard (better being defined as Tali, lol). My female Shepard is a far more completionist run through, doing every quest and every planet (I will finish up male Shepard as more DLC comes out). She is also loyal to Liara...

This is one of the rare occasions where you get to play a female hero that's not deliberately made out to look and act oh-so-sexy as a sales argument for the male audience. Instead you have a "real" woman, and that's very refreshing. And yes, the voice acting is much better, in the German version too by the way. I always try out both anyway.
