I played a little of fem shep in ME2 and I liked Mark better Jen isn't bad but I feel she tries way too hard. Everything that comes out of Meer while playing Shepard just feels natural.

This.

If I'm going to spend a bunch of time in a game I don't want to be looking at the back of some dude.

I always play femshep because its better to look at, but I've always felt the voice acter sounded like she was really bored and tired. You would probably replace all her lines with "wwhhhhhaaaateverrrrr........" and it would sound the same. Manshep sounds like a pretty strong, confident guy... if you were holding your hands around his neck slightly restricting the airway when he talks.

I don't like either voice acter, though I would choose manshep if I had to. I play femshep for the looks.

I kinda of agree here. While I don't think either is gonna win an award anytime soon, they both do a good job and did much better than ME1. What I don't understand is why everyone thinks that Hale's VA is so much more superior than Meer's. She sounds so bored, and almosts rushes the lines. (Which I feel like she did really bad in the first one) I gotta go with Manshep here. Meer sounds right, Shepard isn't going to show an overly amount of emotion. Hes a hardened soldier, not some sally in a soap opera.

Well i love my MaleShep, because he was my first Shepard but my Femshep is just so badass and awesome it's hard to decide.

Male. Ever since the Mansel in distress, Femshep just felt wrong to me.

And while i love Jennifer Hale, there's no way to beat Tali ;)

I prefer Femshep. I like the idea of a strong female character that dosn't come of as a **** (atleast for paragon sheps).

The female faces are extraordinarily hard to get right. It's quite deep in the uncanny valley. I think I spent an hour trying not to make my femShep look like a neanderthal tranny.

I imported my maleShep without any tweaking, he actually looked better than in the first game for some reason.

The voice acting... this is what surprised me. Somehow I got the impression that Mark Meer improved a lot, while Jennifer Hale came off as... uninspired? No, that's too hard a word. It's just that - sometimes she gets the sentence exactly right, and she's good with emotions, but most of the time she has that neutral tone that - as someone posted here - sounded tired. It's weird because Mark Meer manages to keep his steely tone constant, at least, and even if he sounds a bit awkward during the more emotional moments, it actually feels right - Shepard, even Paragon, is anything but a suave charmer. I must say that I felt more of a difference in level between the two VAs in ME1. Now they both perform admirably, but I prefer my maleShep ('cause he was the first and only).

FemShep.

I still can't stand the MaleShep, I started a new game with him and everytime he opened his mouth it made me cringe. It's not necessarily that he is bad, but rather the fact that Jennifer Hale just is the best voice actor out there.

Woman have no place in any kind of combat MOS. But I suppose they need to make a female Shepard in order to appease the female gamer populace (lol). Seriously though, they should have just made it realistic with the FemShep such as a bandaging mini game to fix up your squad after a fight, and grocery shopping with coupons that you find while scanning planets, add in upgradeable oven mits and you have the authentic FemShep experience.

FemShep. If the option is available in a game, I only play my own gender. It's much easier to be immersed in an environment when the NPCs treat you as the gender you are IRL. And I've no desire to be male.

Edit: Garrus and Thane are the cherries on top. Especially Garrus .

I definitely prefer femshep, however I must say that Mark Meer is much better in ME2 than he was in ME1. Jennifer Hale is still the definitive Shepard to me though.

I am playing a femshep as rl-male just because I prefer to watch a hot ass from behind than some ugly walking male.

Why are you staring at pixel asses? And how exactly did you modify your camera angle so that you can see that low?

You're a troll, and an obvious one at that.
I'd slap you down myself but really, what's the point? You've already embarrased yourself.

And FemShep would kick you across the room.

Femshep all the way....and not only for the bonus hilarity (i.e. beating up the Turian off screen)

Femshep 100%. A character I can relate to and Hale's VO feels perfect for the role. I've tried to play as Manshep but I just can't do it, it feels awkward and the voice acting does nothing for me. Hell, I want to play as Manshep so I can at least have decent romances in ME2 that were denied from Femshep (curses!) but even then, its not enough to make me do so :(

Im a guy, but i play FemShep. I think Jennifer Hale's VO job was much better, especially for Renegades.

I believe Jennifer Hale still does a better job at delivering the lines in a way that I find plausible. That said, some of the femshep romance dialogues in ME2 were so cheesy and awkward that no one could have delivered them well. But apart from those (where Hale at least tries) I believe her voice acting is one of the main reasons I think the ME dialogues are top-notch. Not that anyone else does a bad job.

It's a tie for me, really. Maleshep has grown on me in this game, with bonus points for the romance options he has. Femshep still has a great VA to back her up though, and I just flat out like playing my own gender.

I think the voice acting on both is absolutely amazing, but i prefer the male shepard simply because i am a man and can identify more with a male hero.

I like femshep overall for the voice acting, though I can't bring myself to romance people when I play femshep.

Manshep has his moments - he does the "big stupid jellyfish" line better.

If you shoot Conrad in the foot he also delivers the line better than Hale IMO. One of the rare times he does. (Deliver a line better)

But while I think Mark Meer does a damn fine job in ME2 Hale is still better. But that's not really fair is it. I mean she is one of the best VA's out there.
