Anyone have any suggestions at all? She nearly destroyed my whole party in one or two attacks... *hangs head in shame*

Depends... There is quiet a cheat. Just give every character a ranged weapon. (you need a mage with the healing spell). Spread them out and fire away.
The boss do like 80% less damage with her ranged attacks then melee. If you still have problem drink a fire res potion.

Hmmm well I killed Wynne and I can't take Morrigan can I?

So you are not a mage... In that case just bring alot of healing potions. And give all characters a big fire res potion.

I hope that helps, thanks

It should. The thing is that the dragon is stationary. If you go into melee all your melee characters will take damage and the dragon have special attacks like "Me eat you" and so on... Staying ranged will reduce the damage you take if you spread out.

Ranged does a hell of a lot less damage than melee though. It'll take a lot longer and her flaming bolts still do 60 initial damage and about 20 burn damage. Then again I play Hard, so playing range keep away isn't something that's viable for me.
The best I've done is surround her in a melee triangle and whack away at her hp to 1/4... Then I ran out of hp pots. So at least I know with more pots I can beat her.

I play on nightmare right now. Ranged seem to be the way to go (all characters take less damage) also mages are OP.

Well, I guess if you range spec characters from the beginning it'd be fine, but my ranged damage is half my melee, is slower, and is less accurate :/. And yes, mages are OP till you fight bosses with high resistances. I wouldn't know because I only use Morrigan, however. Curse my stubbornness. I refuse to go lower than Hard.
I'll go away and level and come back with pots!
Unless lying to Morrigan and giving her the grimoire doesn't have much of an effect later.

She doesn't scale, so leveling up will definitely help.

Curse you BioWare and your strong characters. I can't in good conscience leave Morrigan to her fate.

I have three chars go ranged, and I look them in place spread out pretty decently
then my main character runs up and stabs her in the ass
Everytime she turns, my character starts hauling in the opposite direction, then stabs her in the butt again.
After about 15 minutes, she croaked, and I saw an uber animation

I used a team composition of Me(Arcane warrior mage), Wynne, Shale and Alistair. I was relatively high level though, and Alistair was wearing around 40-50% fire resist. at first I was using shale as a melee dps, but around mid night turned him into the stationary form to give some plus to alistair. Overall the fight only took around 6-10 minutes, same with High dragon although for that I swapped shale for morrigan
