Ok i know this is probably 3 years too late but has anyone else noticed the way the mass effect intro is exactly the same as the Intro to Top Gun?
So u have the intro text explaining breifly what the back story is, with a subtle music in the background, ok lots of stuff does that, but then you get the text:
- "the species of the galaxy call it... MASS EFFECT" or something like that, with really powerfull shift in the music.
In Top Gun it Goes:
- "The pilots who attend this school call it...TOP GUN", then the song Danger Zone starts up.
I would also be interested if anyone knows if this is a coincidence or if the developers did it on purpose.
Mass Effect Intro Basically Top Gun Intro.

Yeah, i kinda noticed that. But really, i don't care. I think it's rather unavoidable to not have cliches when so many things have come before. Bioware to try to make things original, but that really doesn't matter to me, aslong as the rpgs got a good story, fun combat and intersting companions.

Isn't part of the point of ME to emulate an old style 70-80s sci-fi movie? In fact, the entire reason behind the grain filter? Makes sense, then, that many elements would seem similar to movies of those decades.

Ya and instead of Jester they changed the name to Joker. Sooo obvious.
