Now this could have been a big problem if I hadn't caught it when I went to turn subtitles off. I just made a post about my sound cutting out after the cutscene in the apartment at the end of Samara's personal mission. After completing the mission and being returned to Omega, my difficulty was at casual, and I didn't put it there. Just to be sure I loaded an earlier save -- my difficulty was at veteran -- skipped through the cutscene, and it happened again. I think there may be some issues with this part of the game. Weird, wild stuff...

from what i have read or heard while talking to some friends we are having different bugs in different locations or at different times.
