So they are planning to do more Dragon Age action figures than these? These seem to be from series 1. Maybe we will see Alistair in series 2 then :)

They probably would be planning to do more figures if series 1 is successful.  They'd save Alistair for series 2 or series 3 so people would be buying more figures in anticipation.  DCU did the same thing with their World of Warcraft line, as the most wanted figures were the likes of Thrall, Night Elf huntress and Sylvanas and they've only released those recently.

I would really want Alistair, Sten, and Leliana (with bow and arrows in chantry outfit :D) figures though!

I doubt DC would hold those back like they did WoW. DAO has a shorter shelf life. I think they'll do this like their other lines based on a series - by quarter... you'll probably see everyone by late 2011.

August: Thane, Grunt, Tali, Default Male Shepherd
Sept.: Loghain, Genlock, Duncan, Morrigan

Those are already on the website of DC Direct (w/o pics).

Must figures (ones that must be made):

ME: Garrus, Miranda
DAO: Alistair, Sten, Leliana

Ones that I want outside of these:

ME: Ashley Williams (Phoenix White/Pink suit), Miranda (Black/Yellow variant)
DAO: Ogre (That should be Huuuuggeee - like the Toybiz LOTR troll)

DC Direct has done special big figs like the Draenei Paladin and Tauren. The Ogre should be bigger than those.

EDIT: Oh yeah... someone should get the license of making a Normandy scale kit. -_-;

I think if there's an Ogre Action Figure, it should be taller & larger than the Character Action Figures by a proportionate amount to how tall & large an Ogre is compared to the Characters in-game. If they do anything else, they won't have maximum immersion. & The Ogre should be fully capable of ripping Barbie Dolls apart. Posted Image

My 1 1/2 cents.

those action figures look funky. mcfarlane toys would have done them well. hell, i'd like it even more if they did some sort of twisted version of the figures as they did with christmas. i have that collection sitting unopened and in a refrigerated storage unit.

Eh, you probably just didn't notice me. I'm only 5' 7". And I'm a pretty sound sleeper.

Damn it I want Alistair!

Duncan looks freaked out. Poor Duncan. Gennie I think is the most accurate.

Also, I don't think Loghain's shield has the Cousland thing on it. Or am I thinking of Highever? I don't know.

Those will look perfect in my shelves packed with Mike Mignola and Alan Moore comics. I can just imagine Sten leaning against the Watchmen massive tome...

How are they out of the box? I've handled both DC Direct and McFarlane... for me DC's figs seem sturdier and more play-worthy. DC does a great job with the WoW figures. I'm keeping my reservations until I see the figures physically.

But really, as big a DC reader as I am I was never inclined to collect any action figs from their line because I never liked how they turned out. That's what I'm afraid of for this line. The standard comic book collector/toyfare reader has different demands from their action figures over gamers.

I think WoW worked because the initial "cartoony" look translated well to action figures. I really liked the 1st series Spawn figures when they came out because they based it on McFarlane's art style.

DA and ME border a bit on more realistic human proportions (well on the anorexic/thin side) much like some comic book characters. I have never really liked a Wonder Woman or Black Canary action figure DC has come out with. I don't know if I'll like how they translate Morrigan or Thane to a figure... I am however very confident that they'll do great sculpts for Grunt, Wrex, Shale and the Ogre.

Other companies I'd want to take a crack at Mass Effect and DAO? Revoltech or Bandai (Japan) - for Legion. Hot Toys (HK) -for a 12" modifiable Grey Warden fig.

The only figures I've bought made by DC Direct is from the World of Warcraft line, and I'm the type of collector that displays their in a cabinet out of their boxes.  Suffice to say, I'm still a bit iffy about them because one of the World of Warcraft figures (Valeera) was broken at the base from basic handling.  And I really am quite careful with figures as I've hardly ever made even a scratch on the rest of my collection.  And I agree about how the 'cartoony' design of Warcraft characters translate better onto the figure form with the style DC Direct sculpts with than the more lifelike Dragon Age characters.

If Hot Toys were to make a Dragon Age figure it would be awesome.  Their sculpt quality and attention-to-detail are unrivalled.  The price of their figures are also unrivalled.   I would definitely be interested in a Hot Toys figure/statue if they made one based on characters like Alistair or Morrigan, or as you mentioned, a customisable Grey Warden.
