eh, to each his own.  garrus has a nice following behind him as well, but its not anywhere near the fanatical/cultist following that tali has.  most people, ive noticed, that like tali, also like garrus almost as much.

frankly, tali and garrus will ALWAYS be my two go-to guys, without a doubt.  i used them extensively in the first game, tali especially.  most people are the same way.  as such, they have more of an attachement to garrus and tali since they are carried over from the first game, and you already have a history with those two characters.

Same here. Though, In ME1 I was a big Garrus fanatic, and almost never used Tali, mostly Him and Ash, but I personally do not like Ash at all now. Something about Tali in ME2, made me like her, a lot. Maybe it's just cause it's been a long time or something Posted Image. But yeah, Garrus and Tali will forever be my wingmen.

I was sort of disapointed in the lack or Garrus's dialouge options in ME2, though. It seemed the only times he wanted to talk was after his loyalty, and after his recruitment. Posted Image

ya, that bummed me out a little as well.  it was like after i did his loyalty quest, all he wanted to do was calibrate the forward batteries <_<

but, i did like that garrus turned into quite the badass in the second game, and some of his lines are quite memorable.

Or you could just have Tali with you the entire time, not letting her out of your sight :)

Agreed, one of my favorite Garrus related lines from joke would be "He got that stick out of his butt, but now he wants to beat people to death with it". That made my day.

my insanity soldier went like this:

tali in vents, garrus as fire team leader (both times).  i had samara and legion in my squad throughout the suicide mission.  i had jack do the biotic barrier, and i had jacob escort the survivors back.  no one died and i got my "no one left behind" achievement :wizard:

i got a good laugh out of it when garrus was going on about his grudge match with the chick on his ship, "again, i had reach, and she had flexibility."   the smirk on shepards face after that was PRICELESS.

At the time I didn't realise having a non loyal teammate would geporadize (spelling?) others ( I sided with jack in the argument with miranda). Being selfish, I always had Garrus and Tali with me Posted Image. I sent Legion through the vents, he died because the un loyal miranda led the fire team. I had Jack do the barrier, Thane send the survivors back. Miranda died at the end as well, though I don't really miss her.

I actually replayed it about a day after just to save Thane, wish I could've saved Legion too.

Legion was loyal. Miranda was leading the fire team covering legion opening the door, and he got shot, in the face Posted Image.

Well anyway, I think I'm gonna finish up a bit of the Portrait, and head to bed. Later Tali lovers Posted Image

ya, tali and legion are the two best choices for it.  it just also depends on who you have leading the fire team.  i had garrus lead them, and they all made it out.  also, some people will say that you have to kill all the collectors in the room with the final vent control panel.  i can neither confirm nor deny this.  but, i always kill everything before i opened the vents, so, so far it appears to be held true.

Its possible that since she can die in ME2 they wouldnt let her have a huge part in 3

I don't think this is the case.  I think they will do full parts for (most of) the ME1 and 2 characters that we've had so far.  I think this for several reasons:

1. Development costs are much less in ME3, considering that they're using the same graphics and stuff -- gameplay will be about the same as in ME2.
2. Simply writing out all the characters from ME2 will make our endgame choices totally weightless.  If the characters aren't going to be significant, why does it matter who lives or dies?  Story-wise, we just spent one game discovering the threat and one game getting the people and resources we need to defeat it.  Starting over again with new people despite the fact that we have a brand new crew just doesn't make sense from a story perspective.
3. Making new characters requires finding new voice actors, writing the characters into the story, giving them backstories, a visual style, etc etc.  Bioware will not half-ass their characters, so it may be more work to make 3 new characters than to bring back 6 old ones.
4.  Bioware's most important skill as a developer is their ability to make you CARE about the characters in the game so that you have an emotional investment in it.  Going into ME3 we have a cast of characters that they've done a fantastic job developing.  Leaving them out ruins the emotional attachment to our crew.
5. The characters don't have to be plot-essential to have a big part.  Garrus was a VERY well-written and endearing squadmate who has been with us since ME1, and he is romancable.  He is a very satisfying character, despite the fact that he is completely non-essential to the story since game one.  In other words, the characters can be full but modular -- removing one or the other doesn't change the plot in any significant way.  That way those of us who kept our squads alive are rewarded with lots of interactions with our teammates, while those who lost a few men don't have to worry about ruining the storyline.

Vent-person lives or dies based on your choice for the other fire squad's leader.
