And I've had a thought. If Tali and Shep got married, would she become Tali'Shepard vas Normandy nar Rayya?
Quarian names seem to go First'Family of [Ship lived on] born on [Ship born on]
Just thinkin

Also, late in the podcast, Casey reveals the Garrus and Tali were added as romance options in the first place because of user demand after Mass Effect 1.

I believe it goes that your birth ship is replaced with the ship you're accepted with. That's why they refer to Tali as Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, and not Tali'Zorah vas Normandy nar Rayya. So, I'm not for sure, but I guess if they did get hitched it would be Tali'Shepard vas Normandy.

Ooh, a wedding for Tali!  THAT would be a perfect (IMO) ending to ME3!

Mate, you don't need to explain to me how badass Shepard is and what happened in ME1/2.

What i'm saying that you are thinking too linearly here, over-estimating Shepard and his love with Tali.

He indeed is the single most important human in the Galaxy (maybe), but is not above an entire species. Like it or not, Shepard, his crew and the Normandy alone can *not* stop the Reapers. The Flotilla with its 50 000 ships actually has a much bigger chance to take some of them out. But that's not the point.

If the comes to the point where Tali has to decide if she goes with her love or help her people, it's not a question what does she choose. She would not hesitate a moment to go back to the Flotilla, should they need her.

Let's put it this way: you have to choose whether to be with your girlfriend or save the whole population of Earth. How will you decide?

Shepard and love are cool, powerful and all, but far bigger things are at stake. Thinking that one person on a ship makes all the difference in the final battle - even if said person is Tali - is naive and romantic.

I'm somewhat sad to say that from a realistic point of view your comments tend to be bang on the mark. That said, there are instances every day where if certain individuals had just managed to do, or not do, something a split second before or after a given event the entire outcome might be very different indeed. In that sense Shepard and his crew very much appear to be the "right people at the right time". That's not to say that there may not be other "right people" somewhere in the galaxy that could perform similarly but they are clearly an elite and a cut above the vast majority of other people in their given fields of expertise. Yet no matter how heroically noble (Paragon) nor brutally effective (Renegade) they may be, you are right in stating that against a force as large and powerful as the Reapers no single special ops team can stop them all short of discovering some sort of galaxy wide destroying device (which would be counter-productive) or some tech able to network and shutdown all of the Reapers (which does not appear to be the case based upon conversations with Legion as to why the Heretics found Reaper's message appealing).

I agree with your overall sentiment however, Shepard is a potent force for whichever faction he/she allies with and he/she is one of those fortuitous individuals who finds him/herself in situations where he/she has the opportunity to truly make a difference. We are all interconnected on some level and some tasks are so great that we have to come together in order to effectively overcome them and persevere. Mighty fleets numbering in the tens if not hundreds of thousands of ships will be needed if a head on fight with the Reapers is coming. That will involve millions if not billions of people in regards to active crews, support crews, logistics, research and development, construction, acquisition of necessary materials and resources, training/education facilities, etc. Just like with just about any given product there is usually a lengthy and intricate process behind the end result that most of us rarely truly fathom nor appreciate despite reaping some of the benefits.

Shepard has become an inspirational symbol for humanity and parts of galactic civilisation at large; Tali too (have to stay on topic! ^_^) as well as the other members of the crew who each manage to rise to the occassion and do their part in securing success for Shepard, for themselves and for the galactic community at large - whether they are actively aware and striving for this at any given point in time or not.

Games and stories of this calibre (i.e. superb) often have me feeling both inspired and wistful. I experience so many things vicariously through the story's characters that I would dearly like to see emulated in our own existence (though they can keep the giant, monstrous artificial constructs bent on galactic devastation :P). There's adventure and heroism to be found in our own world to be sure, yet we still lack the snazzy velcro space suits, super advanced capital class spaceships and FTL. "True" space flight (i.e. faster than light or theoretical worm hole jumping capabilities) is one of those things I have secretly dreamed for and hope will be something that I get to see in my lifetime even if I may never get to experience it personally. Then again, I suppose one should take care in regards to what they wish for but imagine the possibilities.....*sigh*

Ahem! I wandered off the beaten path there for a bit. Tali FTW! Huzzah!...And yes, given the choice between staying with her love (Shepard) or assisting in the saviour of her people I too think she would choose the latter. But why does it have to be an "either/or" scenario? It would hardly be the first time two people have had duties that drove them to go and do something for period away from their partner. True, the stakes would be great but it would certainly be possible for Tali and Shepard to stay together even if physically apart temporarily (FTL communications, a quick port visit, etc.) AND still carry on saving a people, the galaxy, etc.

ah i see, something i've been waiting all day to post about...

since ME2 is moddable i've been thinking about taking a look and trying it out (i'm an avid modder for CNC, Empire at war and pretty much any other game thats moddable)

so far the only thing that i might be able to do to enhance the Romance subplot is make the love scene replayable through the press of a button in Sheps quarters... i don't know if this is possible but i'll take a look...

if it's not possible then maybe i'll add some more shotguns and SMGs :D

This thread seems to expand at around 50 pages per day. I'm interested to know how long you can keep it up, people. 1000 pages and the devs will show up with concept art of her face and/or a promise to keep her...

Well realisticly if she didn't help the Flotilla eveeyone would die in the galaxy and she couldn't be **** Shep anyways...

which is why the fate of everyone who will play ME3 lies within our ability to talke about Tali until its confirmed that she's in ME3 as a continued LI and team mate... if we don't then this will be locked! (although another one will probably appear)
